Elton Brand Suspended 1 Game for Flagrant Foul

To the surprise of precisely no one, the League came down hard on EB for his takedown of the JaValator last night: “Elton Brand suspended 1 game (tonight @ TOR) for his flagrant 2 foul against JaVale McGee last night.”

    Pushing someone when they’re vulnerable like that in the air is bushleague. I never thought I’d see Brand do something like that.

    I didnt see the game so dont know if they were going at it all night or whatever.. I think as soon as Brand realized he got beat to the basket, he rushed over there to give a shove and prevent an easy lay-up.. Too bad dude got hurt..

    This was a average foul in the 80s and 90s. Brand didnt mean to lay they guy out, was just a little late getting there to wrap him up.. Silly that unless you hug the guy, or slap him on the wrist, its considered flagrant..

    He didn’t wanna end up on a poster, the end. We have all seen the Blake Griffin facial, multiple times. He made no attempt for the ball. It was a desperate attempt to not end up the butt of a joke on ESPN, fail x ten.

    I can see the other side of it though, if an guy came into my building, threw one of my guys to the ground causing a (non serious) injury, I’d want to see the guy tared and feathered too…

    saw the game, it was a simple shove but not well placed for a guy who already leaped into the air for a slam… mcgee was certainly vulnerable but i think brand had no malice when he shoved him…

    I like people who never watched a game in the 80s/90s telling people it was an average foul in the 80s/90s. Not quite.
    Don’t think it deserved a suspension, just an ejection would have been fine.

    No punches thrown, no previous record…..no suspension, the difference in the 80′s & 90′s is that you wouldnt be able to walk away to the tunnel after this, you or your team would get up and make sure it didnt happen again…..

    Im 31 years old, I’ve seen plenty of games in the 80s and 90s.. Back then, a little pushing and shoving was to be expected… Maybe “average foul” was the wrong term to use, but A shove like that wouldn’t have caused a suspention..
