Shane Battier Inspired By NFL Fight

Apparently, Battier likes watching dudes throw down (though not necessarily on top of his dome, mind you.) He credits Andre Johnson’s brutal fight against Cortland Finnegan for his strong play against the Thunder. From the Houston Chronicle: “Shane Battier went from one of his worst offensive games of the season to perhaps his best. He made 1-of-9 shots in Charlotte before hitting 7-of-11 to score 18 points, including the game-winning running jumper on Sunday against the Thunder. Battier said he was inspired after seeing Texans receiver Andre Johnson, fresh from his fourth quarter fight with Cortland Finnegan. ‘I saw the champ,’ Battier said. ‘The champ goes from a tough game, showing what it means to be a fighter, coming, sitting courtside at the Rockets tonight. I saw the champ. After the crowd got hyped, I got hyped. The champ is responsible for this win. I will roll with Andre Johnson every day of the week. That fired me up when I saw him.’”

Funny how this works. Nfl fights are ok, enjoyed by most actually. But let an nba player throw a punch and its the end of the world, every ‘reporter’ would be hating, and stern would come with some new draconian rules.

true true. way to let the fight show in your game on the court. Punches are easy. Champions let the fight boil up inside and fire up a hunger for wins.
Battier is a champ. A funny guy with words but a leader and a champ. way to step up Shane Battier!

Why does finnigan throw his helmet away?? that meant he had his hands full holding the helmet and once he let go it was all over…

@Dacre I think it was his way of iniciating the fight like when hockey players take off their gloves and ish.

Lol that fight was hilarious because Dre is one of the most soft-spoken, hard working guys in the league who avoids most situations like that. But AJ snapped lol
