Blazers to Shut Down Brandon Roy for 3 Games

The sadness that is Brandon Roy’s season lurches forward, as he will miss the next three games. Per the Blazers: “Trail Blazers G Brandon Roy (sore left knee) will miss Portland’s next three games and will be re-evaluated later next week.”

Swift and sudden fall from grace…

    Damn son.

the beginning of the end…. hate to say it

Three games? That’s it? That’s not really shutting him down, that’s giving him a little time off. My dude Noah’s gonna be out for over two months. Now that’s getting shut down.

I heard he got no cartillage left & I don’t think they can do knee replacements yet. It’s Ova Chicken .

Ovachicken??? Wtf! 3 games will not get him right. Blazers fans are one giant sad panda

Fox News is reporting that Roy is telling the Blazers that either he or Miller need to be traded.

After reaching the playoffs the past two years, us Blazer fans were starting to get some real expectations, after the injury-prone season, this summer was starting to get very exciting expecting everybody to be 100% (or close to it), Now, the injuries continue and Roy is starting to get a little annoying with all this talk, IMO Matthews has been more valuable then him (so far) this season…

Can you imagine Dre and Roy getting into a heated discussion? That would be like listening to Mickey and Minnie mouse argue.. Im sorry, I love my team and players, but we always get the guys with squeaky voices. (Rubin Patterson, Z-BO, etc.)

Lmfao at bossterry. What if richard jefferson happened to be around and tried to seperate them?

If the reports about Roy are true – his career as we knew it is over. If the cartlidge in your knees is gone, no surgery or anything else is going to make it any better. Without being able to insure his contract/knees, I don’t see any team wanting to trade for him. I feel bad for him and hope he invested wisely because his big money days are coming to an end.

I just want to say that hte comments Roy made about Miller were really ridiculous. That is all.

  • greg

when u get ur acl reconstructed they put artificial cartlige in the knee. kenyon martin did cortozone shots and some other treatment and he was reasonably ok considering all the surgery he had. if amare is dunkin all over everyone and oden didnt lose any hops why cant they fix brandon roy

    sad…sad…sad…

  • dma

@Tarzan trust me, richard jefferson wouldn’t be trying to separate them if you catch my drift.

I think the decision to “rest” roy is merely to see what the rest of the team can do without him and showcase the rest of the team. It’s no coincidence that Rudy surpassed his career high tonight.

^ co-sign… If Roy wants to be “the man” he needs to do it.. Miller is not the problem, Roy’s unability to hit a shot (this year) is.. Not hating, but damn.. Dre is at least a few steps up from Blake..

Just trade Roy to Washington already!!

  • OvaChicken

It’s a long story but basically , if your two goals down with a minute to go it’s Ova right ? WRONG Mr Ovechkin scored 3 magic goals & now it’s OVA-CHICKEN !! Greatness personified or Chickinated chick your poice.

    ..yeaah,mmh,right,OC..
well, they CAN make knee replacements-it just hasnt proven very compatible with the pro ball-playing thing..i mean really sad-i have no idea whats wrong with his knees and have not picked up on the rumours mentioned here-but whatever it is, it must be serious to some extent-cause when i heard that his knee was bad (with not just tendonitis) about 8 games into the season, and they opted not to take care of it surgically at that point but to see if they can somehow get through the season pacing him in some way or form-i mean that sounds like a recipe for disaster with about 75 games to play within 5 months not counting playoffs.
blazers really have it tough nowadays..
btw:how did that enourmously deep roster get to basically 4-5 nba worthy players seemingly within one off-season??yeah i know oden, ghostface and all,but that must be some kinda record..

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Lamarcus Aldridge has been killing without Roy.

  • MikeC.

I just feel bad for Blazer fans. Welcome to salary cap hell. On the bright side, at least Oden didn’t get a max extension right before shutting it down for the season.

What can you do, but sigh and feel bad for Portland fans?
With that said, re. some of the comments here…..dude was NEVER elite. Don’t get it twisted.
I know what Kobe said, and I know what Ron Artest said. I don’t buy it. Why? Because he’s obviously on that second tier.
Kobe knows they aren’t on the same level and wouldn’t be mistaken as such, so he’s free to rain praise on him.
Case in point: you’re NOT going to see Kobe or Artest say “LeBron is the best player, and most difficult to guard”. You just won’t. It’s too close.
But throw some praise on B-Roy, that’s no problem. It’s a false concession.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

But I get it, he’s a fan favourite. A guy who lacks the flash, and the extreme athleticism. Makes the regular joes look on with a hopeful smile on their faces, seeing someone like that excel at the sport.
But second tier stardom is excellence as well. Let’s appreciate that for what it is without hyperbole…at least in retrospect.

  • TrailBlazing&SportingLisbon

deshawn33, I get what you sayin, but Miller, Roy, Wes, Batum, Rudy, Dante Cunningham, VanillaGorilla, Camby, Oden?, the 3 rookies and Patty Mills are not 5 NBA worthy players…as for Roy his max deal is insured but I dont know if that makes him more tradable to start the rebuilding process
