Joakim Noah to Miss 8-10 Weeks

It turns out that Noah will indeed be sitting. Thumb surgery will keep the Bulls’ forward on the sidelines for quite a bit of time. From the Chicago Tribune: “Noah is scheduled to miss eight to 10 weeks, not returning until after the All-Star break in late February or early March. That would be at least 30 games for the heart and soul — and rebounding machine — of the franchise. ‘It sucks,’ Noah said. ‘It’s not what I want. But I have to get back to playing at a high level. I’m tired of taking anti-inflammatory (pills) every time I play. I’m tired of not dribbling with my right hand. I’m going to miss playing. It’s frustrating because I feel we have a chance to be really, really good. But I know in the long run, this is what needs to be done.’ Having the surgery now ensures Noah will return in time for the playoffs. ‘We’re disappointed for Jo,’ coach Tom Thibodeau said. ‘He has put a lot of work in. But our guys are confident and the bench is deep. We have more than enough to win with. Taj (Gibson) and Kurt (Thomas) have started a bunch of games in the league. Lu (Deng) has been very, very effective at (power forward). And Carlos can go to (center) some.’”

yeah that is very disappointing, if Rose doesn’t get that wrist sprain any better than the Bulls will end up being 8th seed again…

^^8th seed? Not a chance. The Bulls have enough bigs to fill the void.

Not 8th seed, but without Noah many games will be lost that should be won. It’s frustrating as hell. Just as we’re inching towards being one of the elite. Now I wouldn’t be surprised if home-court in the first round is out the window with the loss of Noah. We have depth. But Boozer, Gibson, Deng, Asik and Thomas combined can’t replace Noah’s hustle and energy.

Enigmatic, no worries bro. We’ve been down this road before with Joakim getting injured. The only difference is that we didn’t have the same kind of depth behind him. We’ve got Booz, Taj, Asik, and an elderly Kurt Thomas, but still. We’re not lacking any depth at the 4/5 spot. Plus, Joakim isn’t a “skill” guy, so it’s not like we’re experiencing a huge drop off there. Booz will continue to flourish and Taj has done well as a starter also. Yeah, it sucks having to 8-10 weeks w/o him but we’ll be fine. I don’t anticipate losing that many games. At least not enough to drop us in the standings that drastically.

That’s a huge blow for the Bulls. It is going to make competing in the league even tougher. It seems like the Bulls always start to battle serious injury set backs this time of the season. Luckily, Noah should be back just in time to make a playoff seed push.

Damn, that’s rough on Noah. He is growing nicely into his role and this when the team was just getting used to being back to full strength with Booz back in the line up.

On another note how long before the 1st KG wisecrack…?

Bulls will be alright. We have a fairly easy schedule for the next few weeks and we’re much deeper down low than we’ve been previous years. We might slip to 4th or 5th, but we’ll be ok.

I’m mostly concerned about our sudden lack of size. Only Asik is taller than 6’9″, and he has a really hard time staying on the court. We’ll still be good against smaller teams, but against the bigger ones I’ll be worried. Wonder what starting lineup Thibs will settle on while Noah’s out. I know we’ll see a lot of different combinations at the PF/C positions.

1st booz. Now noah. Just when we were actually lookin formidable, again were set back. That’s the frusturating part n all of this. We still gonna get a high seed. We got the talent 4 that. Don’t know who said we were gonna get the 8th seed. Were still not worse than the bobcats or pacers
