Knicks Still Going at Chris Paul or Deron Williams

Despite Raymond Felton’s strong play, the New York Knicks are still in the hunt for a top-tier point guard. Remember, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony raised a glass last summer and toasted the possibility of one day joining Amar’e Stoudemire in New York. From the Daily News: “Aligning a bunch of superstars in one city is the new trend in the NBA, but it’s far from an exact science. The Celtics Big 3 plus Rajon Rondo has worked like a charm while Miami’s Big 3 plus Juwan Howard is trying to keep its head above .500. The Knicks, of course, don’t have a point guard issue because Raymond Felton has played well through 19 games. And yet we should always remember that Felton was signed to a two-year contract last summer. The Knicks still look at him as a band-aid until Paul or Deron Williams becomes available. Paul is terrific but I’ve always preferred Utah’s Deron Williams. He’s tougher, he’s a proven leader, winner and he’s more durable. I think Donnie Walsh feels the same way. Williams is from Dallas, played his college ball at Illinois and seems content in Utah. Would he walk? I guess it’s a possibility.”

    I wonder how Felton feels?

really dont see this happening.. i jus freakin wish cp3 would end up in orlando somehow

The knicks have karma kicking them straight in the ass, and nobody wants to come near here until this dark cloud is lifted. This “organization” traded Clyde, traded Ewing, gave up on the King. traded Jax (probably woulda gave it a good run with Pat had he stayed, he went to the playoffs with everybody else), fired Willis as coach with a winning record, same goes for Lenny, fired Donnie, shoulda never got LB, and crapped on him too, crapped on Steph his last year (when it finally looked like he got it), gave Latrell hell, traded Oak, traded Starks, never gave Phil a shot to coach even after cba success, crapped on Ewing (no job offers despite good work at all his asst gigs), even took it to a new low repeatedly dissing Ewing jr (this time for shaun williams????), NO LOYALTY and all in the name of NO RINGS. I root for them thru good and bad, but they need to get it together and start by leaving Felton alone(for two more ringless superstars) heck it sems ok so far

^^I agree they shouldn’t try to build a super team because they’re doing ok so far with the core that they have. I think they just need a pretty good center and put Chandler at the 2 move Galinari to the 3 and Amare to the 4. At least I think it’s a good move.

Deron Williams isn’t going anywhere. He is committed to winning.. He isn’t appeased by the bright lights and billboards. He wants to win. That isn’t happening in NYC. He likes it in Utah and plays in a system built for him.

Maybe CP3.. But not D Will.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Yup, I don’t see D. Will in New York. He could care less about the bright lights and the big city life and all that. Dude just wants to win.

  • BxBaller

Ya say that now, but we all know $$$ talks.

Classic D’Antoni bs. Your point guard is performing at the top of his game but you still deflate his ego by wishing for some pie in the sky point guard. There are only 5 or 6 elite pgs in the league. How are the other teams managing? If this really was fantasy league ball, they’d have Phil Jackson coachig the Knicks. No guarantee that Chris Paul or Deron Williams would even succeed in NY. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

why would anyone leave a playoff team that could actually contend for the knicks? the KNICKS!?

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

I love how people in the media shape headlines. smh…Right now Felton is playing at an All-Star level.

  • Ctp

It is funny, after re-reading this article, I am reminded how often people make a story out of nothing.

Neither team or player has said ANYTHING to even hint at this.

After the Lebron and Bosh joke show over the summer, CAN WE PLEASE JUST GET A BREAK FROM FREE AGENT B.S.!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • MusketeerX

I don’t think the Knicks are looking past the next week right now, let alone two years from now.

Felton is playing well… really well. He’s hitting big shots, has a huge stat line, and is exactly what the Knicks need.

They should be less worried about a point guard or small forward, and concentrate more on a defensive minded center than can hit some J’s.

les we forget the era of the lakers and spurs that kept so many rings from these other guys…..amare 100% will bring a chamoionship to new york with the help of another superstar

  • AL29

I’ll never understand why the Knicks are always in the running for landing a major free agent when no superstar has played for them since Patrick Ewing did. Unless you consider Amare to be a superstar, which he isn’t. Also, it would be terrible for the league and for the city of New Orleans if CP3 left.

More bs free agents to kknicks rumors? Yaaaaaaaawn.

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

This is transitioning from annoying to amusing. They think they get their pick of PGs now? I’m sure there “looking at Rose, Westbrook, and Rondo” as possibilities as well.

  • http://j@j.com j

Oh that will be great! He’ll be perfect next with LeBron and Joe Johnson on the wings…oh wait.

  • O

Felton’s the best PG the Knicks have had since my man Derek Harper. Chris Childs was cool (when he was an alcoholic) and harlie Ward was cool, too, but come on. It’s been downhill since Harper broke boogie. Felton’s the division’s best PG next to Rondo.

  • O

*Charlie Ward. That’s not to say I wouldn’t like CP3 pickin’ and rollin’ with Amare and Melo in NYC though…

Does any sh*tty team in sports get more undeserved attention than the Knicks? Can the media please STFU about that team already? When was their last title, the Nixon administration? The way the media talks about them you would think they had some recent dynasty. Even the Dallas Cowboys at least generally make the playoffs…

Knicks should save some room and make a run for Ricky Rubio.
He’ll be ready and willing to play in NYC. It’s not like he lead his team FC Barcelona to a European title…oh wait. HE DID. And I heard a rumor that he won’t wants to play for the L-Wolves is he comes to the States. It’s just a rumor. Why wouldn’t he want to…Oh forget it.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/32JSE Yesse

Felton has been playing well. I don’t see a reason to get rid off him. Just get Carmelo.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

@Yesse: +1! Chris Paul who? Deron Williams what? The Knickerbockers got Raymond “Smooth” Felton baby! He’s gonna break his All-Star cherry this year.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    *this season

AL29 — In the same way as LeBron leaving Cleveland?

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Who leaves New Orleans first, Chris Paul, or the Hornets? POW! That’s a good question.

  • MikeC.

I wish the NY media would cork their word-holes for a couple weeks. The Knicks are actually playing quite well right now. Two games about .500 this deep in the season is the best they’ve done in almost a decade. Without working the Google to verify, I think the Knicks are actually the best road team in the league right now. Their home record is a pile of deuce, but they win on the road and have picked up a couple of quality wins. Donnie and D’Antoni have put together a pretty solid mid-tier team on the fly. Let them develop. From the way Felton has been playing, and the chemistry he’s developing with Amare, he seems to be the long-term solution at PG. Like others said, let’s worry about finding a solid 5 who can do the dirty work and stay out of Amare’s way, as well as some veteran depth on the bench.

  • GWills

@cklyn sazer… as a Knick fan I can not help but agree with everything you stated(except maybe about Ewing Jr. over Shawn Williams)… Why was Mark Jackson never considered for the coaching job? … big mistake…

A lot of talent on this team… deserves the opportunity to become one.
