Pistons Team Source: Rip Hamilton ‘Quit on Us’

More and more, Hamilton‘s days in Motown appear to be numbered. The Detroit News has the latest: “Hamilton’s non-participation in Saturday’s practice, along with his upset stomach that caused him to miss Sunday’s game and complaints about his diminished role have led some in the organization to wonder if Hamilton has quit on the Pistons. Hamilton’s been on the trading block for two years, and he would like a change of scenery. And, on Sunday, just before a game against the New Orleans Hornets, Hamilton, who was replaced in the starting lineup over the weekend by Ben Gordon, told the team he had an upset stomach and could not play. After the game, a number of people associated with the team questioned his ‘upset stomach.’ Team president Joe Dumars has said he is having trouble making deals because the team is for sale, but if Hamilton doesn’t take coming off the bench well, the situation could become untenable. With the recent trades around the league, it shows the market is opening up. ‘If I need to have a long talk with him, I will,’ Dumars said Monday on WDFN. ‘I’ll see how Rip is doing tomorrow when he gets in here. Rip’s been good for me.’”

Geez, it’s not like he’s done much for the team over the years huh? If I was “on the trading block” for over two years I might just quit too.

Pistons is such a mess. And to think, just a few years ago they were this close to chasing Jordan’s 72-10 record.

BG Needs to be the starter on that team anyways…RIP has phoned it in all season so far with the exception of a couple games. His scoring average didn’t drop because he’s not capable of being an 18-20 ppg scorer anymore, he just doesn’t care…can’t say I blame the dude after being the teams leading scorer since he got there, and not they have 8,847 wing players who he’s sharing the PT with.

The Bulls. It is the Bulls 72-10 record.

Nice Pistons. They put Rip’s name out there like that after the years of service to the team. classy and only makes it harder to trade him because it makes other teams wonder about his desire anymore but more importantly should make other players question whether or not they want to play for them.

RIP is a starter and shouldn’t be coming off the bench BG is a selfish player and plays a better role coming off the bench..

After his contributions he’s been on the trading block for 2yrs, sounds like they quit on him first. Ball club actions like this make it easier to justify Le Decision, loyalty is a two way street.

  • Randy Brown

I’d be quite happy for him to be traded, I’m a big Rip fan but he doesn’t have a lot of effective years left. Chicago, Chicago, here he comes (hopefully)

    Who is chicago gonna give?
Chi should’ve signed T-mac in the first place

detroit give up on rip.. i wouldve already been outta there

  • ClydeSays

On one hand, Rip gets paid to play ball, so he should show up and do his job. On the other, Dumars had made a mess of that team so he can’t expect any player to be happy being there.

When you have that many perimeter guys some one (or two) is going to be in a role they don’t want. Detroit needs to trade some one, if Rip wants out make something happen.

If the Nuggets trade away Anthony, they should be interested in Hamilton’ services.

“Randy Brown”, are you serious? I don’t want Rip Hamilton in Chicago! Sh*tty contract, and he can’t play worth a damn anymore. Geez, no wonder you were never better than the third string point guard and had to go and sell off your championship rings…SMH

If I were Rip, I’d tell Joe D to talk to my agent.

Try this on. Rip to the thunder. If they could do it without giving up anybody young that could really benefit the thunder. having him spell sefelosha would be interesting. Interesting, that is if he was willing to come off the bench.
