Polladaday: Lakers’ Struggles?

After their loss to the Spurs, the Lakers have now dropped three in a row, including a game on Christmas in which the Heat blew right by them. What’s the cause of these problems?

What's going on with the Lakers?

Trust each other. That’s you Kobe (though I’m a fan) you need to get everyone involved.

voted get the role player involved more, but kobe has a problem with that. LA was playing better when Pau had the ball in his hand, he can score and passes alot(what kobe lacks!)

  • logues

theres nothing more i love to watch than to see kobe losing and getting mad, hes such a baby when hes losing and not getting every call. dwade shut him down and ginobili had him frustrated

  • Stepfan

that something else is ……. give Pau the ball.

  • Drew

They’re taking WAY too many 3′s. Seriously need to start using Pau and Andrew inside more…A LOT MORE!

  • JTaylor21

It’s funny how everyone ignores the elephant in the room instead choosing to blame the “role” players.

  • http://psp2423@yahoo.com Eboy

@Jtaylor it’s true if Kobe is having a bad game then the role players need to step up which they havent.
Matt Barnes is the only player in my head who plays good every game. This is for the people that say kobe should past it to Gasol, have You seen Gasol play lately he looks tired, washed up, and lost so there goes Lakers number one scoring option so Kobe has to step up and looking at the game yesturday Kobe missed some shots that he always hits. The real problem is that who is the third scoring option for L.A.

Ball movement. Feed the post. Teach Artest the Triangle? They are easily talented enough to beat anyone.

  • Stepfan

@Eboy now that I looked at the highlights again your right he did look tired. But If I’m Pau and I got Blair checking me I would be assertive and demand the ball in the post. Which was something he did not do last night. smh That why Kobe took all those shots.

They had all the right pieces the past 2 years, and if they kept them they’d still be the same team right? As a Laker fan I would rather have Sasha and Farmar than Blake and Barnes. They are a better team today on paper, statistics and talent wise, but I think Sasha and Farmar were like sparks for the team, do their 4-8 mins run, hit a trey let Kobes and Fish rest for a bit, and then the starters come back and kill it. Yes Blake and Barnes are more consistent better defensively, greater I.Q., to me they aren’t Lakers, just filling holes in their lacking defense.

Pau needs to step up and take the torch from Kobe ’cause Mamba aint passing ish. And I’m not saying it to knock Jelly Bean, I think that’s just how he sees the proverbial torch-passing.

Kobe Is Getting Old And His Era Of Greatness Is Over. Laker Fans Need To Accept That And Stop Making Exuses. Yes Kobe Is Good! Yes Kobe Is One Of The Best There Will Ever Be But People Have To Know That Even The Best Get Old And Have To Stop Playing Some Day. Thats Why Something Else Is The Better Answer And Thats Why It Has Soo Many Votes.

When Cleveland got eliminated in the play-offs, who was blamed? The role players. Jtaylor lets at least be consistent.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

    @AllBall247 truth.

  • will

Thats right and who was credited for those laker rings, not the role players

Wasn’t it obvious? There is a lineup that has won them back to back titles that we have not seen this year.

Bench:Odom and whatever tomato cans Phil wants to throw out on the court with him.

Yes. Kobe needs to step up. Yes. Pau is sorta looking tired. But why haven’t we started talking about Artest? His on-court decisions are almost cancerous to us sometimes. It’s like any ounce of his ball-handling to flew full-flight out of the window this season, and he really isn’t being effective AT ALL

  • Dagger

Part of it is that they’re saving energy for the playoffs. However, they also need to do a much better job feeding the big men. Kobe needs to be much less of a shot jacker and much more of a facilitator. Less fundamental problems: Artest has a tough time defending certain players (Melo, Bron) and when he’s on the court he can be a black hole on offence; the point guards can’t stop anybody, and Gasol is already worn out. It’s an uphill struggle to a third championship, to say the least.

the lakers just suck and cant play any good teams and KOBe sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIAMI IS THE BEST

Kobe or the role players don’t have to step up… oh wait, everybody has to step up! It takes a team to win. I know the Lakers can do a threepeat if they just work hard enough, but so far it looks like another team is wanting the rings more.

This Poll Has Been On For Like A Week!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

it’s only been on for like two days Jasmine

  • http://slam FLIGHT 9

the third year of the threepeat is the hardest one says the ZEN MASTER. Look at the bulls 2 3peat and the first by lakers….the third year sucks but when the smoke clears they are going on top… i guess….. only boston is capable of toppling them….I’m a BULLS fans though!! GO BULLS….. DERRICK ROSE 4 MVP!!!

It’s Phil. The players are either tuning him out or he’s slacking and letting them slack off to get it out of the way before the all-star break. That’s when they’ll (probably) pick it up, unless they’ve dug too deep a hole for themselves.
