Blazers Pursuing Anthony Randolph

The Knicks are looking to unload AR in order to sweeten the deal for Carmelo Anthony. From the NY Daily News: “Anthony Randolph seems to be counting the days until the Knicks finally send him on his way, with Portland emerging as a likely destination for the seldom-used forward. A Blazers official confirmed that the team has interest in Randolph, but added that the team is not getting great reports on the 21-year-old. [...] The Blazers have two first-round picks and would be willing to swap Randolph for one of them. Knicks president Donnie Walsh met with Randolph’s agent, Bill Duffy, last week in New York and it is clear that the Knicks will attempt to move Randolph before the Feb. 24 trading deadline.”

First, we need to move him, he’s a non-factor.

    I would much rather get a good back-up 3 or 1..

Gerald Green 2.0, Randolph will always have potential and people will always think he’ll break out on his next team but he never will.

@Caboose there is absolutely no possibly comparison to Gerald Green, none whatsoever

This would be a GREAT pick up for the Blazers and really a GREAT move for the young man to make. He’s got a lot of talent and a lot of skill, there is a lot he can learn from guys like Lamarcus Aldridge and Marcus Camby.

Well, I would like to see what is AR capable of if got 25-30 minutes per game. Of course, first he has to prove, he deserves those minutes…

randolph is fragile emotionally, he might need a father figure coach somebody like alvin gentry, who actually helped goran dragic put it all together

they should trade patty mills to NYK. this young fella can play. the league is just starting to see his potential. he is too fast. He’d be great in D’Antoni’s style

TBRK: What makes you say that he’ll be a good help to the Blazers? If he’s not able to crack the Knicks thin frontcourt, why would he contribute to Portland? Did you also think that Dalembert would break out when he went to Sacto and Courtney Lee would break out in Jersey?

  • unrel

he needs good vets around him.. who did he have in GsW and NYK?

  • Sam

    phoenix could really use AR

  • Mike From Spain

    Rudy Fernandez to the Knicks!

@Caboose…not sure if you missed the recent happenings, but the frontcourt of the Knicks has become quite a bit harder to ‘crack’. There is a lot he can provide to this squad, if given the kind’ve trust and bode of confidence he was given by the Warriors his first 2 years. He’s a guy who can run the break with any big man in the league, play out to 20 feet, put the ball on the floor, and has the length and vertical quickness to stand stout inside on both ends of the floor. He’s a BASKETBALL player. Period. The kid is 20 years old and for some reason we are trying to compare him to Samuel Dalembert??? wherdeydothatat?

The reason he doesn’t play in NY is simple. D’Antoni can’t run his system with a completely horrendous ball stopping offensive player. The knicks lose spacing, and a passing option with him on the court. Oh and D’Antoni has always run a very small rotation. Randolph will come in and play for Portland right away, and he will contribute, defensively. Plus Marcus Camby is the best tutor in the league for bigs
