Brandon Roy to Undergo Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

It’s no longer just a possibility; Brandon Roy’s knees will go under the knife. Blazers’ Edge has the official word from the team: “Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will undergo arthroscopic surgery on both knees, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Don Roberts in Vancouver, Wash. next week. There is no timetable for his return. ‘I’m trying to do the best thing I can to get back on the floor,’ said Roy. ‘We’ve been able to get a number of different opinions and it’s something we’ve decided.’ Roy, 26, has missed 16 games this season (three games from Nov. 16-20 and the last 13 games beginning on Dec. 17) with a sore left knee.”

even if he wasnt mad injury plagued, he wasnt going to get any better. he never was going to be in the upper tier. but still sucks. worst part, this is the first year of his MAX extension (thought he wasnt worth it even before this mess)

  • Darius

The knee injuries are the worst. It is going to take some time for Roy to recover

  • greg

how many of these surguries does he plan on its gonna keep comming back maybe the nba should play less games to avoid these repetitive stress injuries

I am sure that in the worst case scenario, he has saved his money. He seems to be cut from that kind of cloth.

Phil, even if he didnt save his money, he will, be fine, first year of a five year max ext. Hes set financially….. Physically, hes screwed. He will just never be what he was. Shtt happens

Hey Blazer fans, I feel bad for you. As a Knick fan who lived through the cap-crippling Allan Houston contract, I feel your pain.

woahhhh why are people saying b-roy would not improve? he was an allstar in his sophomore season and averaged 23 a game in 08-09, without a doubt his best season. last year he averaged around 21 a game and was plagued with various injuries but was still an all star AND an all nba team member. He wouldve been tearing it up had he not been injured, he’s THE NATURAL. come on give him more respect than that, a truly capable scorer and defender. Clutch, all around player.

Well, as for one, I still think BRoy is an amazing player. Since his college I’ve been a fan. But arthroscopic surgery on BOTH knees? Man, that’s something real nasty stuff. It’s going to be extremely hard to came back from there. I wish him all the persistence and luck in the world. He’s going to need it. It’s not a happy season for Blazers fans.

This is what happens when you play on a injury that you should not be playing with. This is grant hill all over again. now all we could do is talk about what he would have been. Playing with bad injurys is just not worth it.
Brandon Roy = Grant Hill 2.0
