Andre Miller: Blake Griffin’s No All-Star

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

When the All-Star reserves were announced last night, fans and media began complaining en masse about who was snubbed and those that supposedly did not deserve to be All-Stars this season. NBA players, on the other hand, took a much more diplomatic approach to things.

Well, most of them anyway.

Andre Miller lamented teammate LaMarcus Aldridge’s exclusion from the All-Star game, and used the opportunity to bash Blake Griffin and the hype that surrounds the explosive rookie. But, um, Andre Miller is no hater according to Andre Miller.

The Oregonian brings us the quotes:

When told Aldridge did not make the team, Miller cursed. “It’s all publicity and hype,’’ Miller said. “The league don’t appreciate the blue collar workers. They don’t appreciate that. They make their money off the high-flyers … That’s a slap in the face to LA.’’

What particularly irked Miller, who is in his 12th NBA season, is the selection of Griffin, the Clippers rookie. Griffin is averaging 23.0 points and 12.7 rebounds. “They are putting this guy on every ESPN highlight. Yeah, it’s cool because fans want to see that, but you isolate him from his team,’’ Miller said. “Especially … he ain’t made nobody better. It’s basically his rookie year, as an All-Star? LeBron James didn’t make an All-Star team as a rookie.’’

“LA was supposed to make it. He was supposed to make it,’’ Miller continued. “We have a better record than those guys (the 19-29 Clippers), and LA is putting up just as good numbers. Now, you are not goin’ to see a lot of highlights – Blake Griffin highlights and stuff like that – but they are giving these young guys too much respect. Too much respect to the young guys. It’s good for him personally; I’m not no hater. But I am biased toward my teammate. No. 1, we have better record, and No. 2, (Aldridge) is just as good and he has paid his dues.’’

Miller and Griffin of course have history — the two got into a highly amusing shoving match two months ago, for which ‘Dre received a suspension.

Andre Miller is right to a degree. There is a tremendous amount of hype around the Blake Griffin Show, but here’s the thing: it’s totally deserved. Despite the discrepancy in team records between the Blazers and Clippers, there’s absolutely no way LaMarcus Aldridge should be an All-Star over Blake.

Stop hating, Andre Miller.

hey adam sandler look alike juz chillax man

  • hey

even Chris Kaman was voted as an all-star last season by the coaches & clippers didn’t have a winning record either

maybe its just because Andre never been.. an all-star & its going to be played in his hometown

Blake Griffin is definatley worthy of being an all star. Even if Aldridge is making a better impact on his team or working harder or whatever, that’s not what people come to see in the all star game. People come to see the dunks, the crossovers, and all that. Some people were even angry that Kevin Love wasn’t going to be an all star. Sure, he may be an insane rebounder, but is that what you’re going to see in the all star game? No. Blake is completley all star material, and there’s no doubt about it.

What up Andre! You dont know because you havent been an all-star!

Blake deserves to be in the game.but Cmon people look up lamarcus’ stats. He’s killing in a position with a lot of talented guys. He deserved a reserve spot for sure. The one guy I can’t believe made the game was KG. He’s washed. That rite there shows it’s about the super stars…..

Okay, LA should have made it. So what blake can jump but La IS SUCH A DYNAMIC

  • Kourtney

Andre, get over it. If Aldridge has not said anything, then why you? Griffin is new to the game, just as Westbrook and Rose, so I think you have past history to dislike this young guy, right? So shame on you. A “suppose to be” professional NBA player, picking on a rookie in front of the Media. What does that say about you???? Hope you stay in Portland, would hate to have to see you try somewhere else. Did not see you mentioned as one of the top trades??Wonder why??? Attitude maybe???? Jealous maybe????Get over it, you would not have been selected, even if the Coaches had not voted for Griffin. If anyone should complain it should be a 2 time MVP and 7th in the NBA history in assists, Nash, did he complain???NOT. Now this is called showing professionalism, agree????

…Miller should know better. NBA is an “entainment” COMPANY, a business that needs to make money. To bring money, they need to entertain people.
I think Griffin is alot more entertaining to watch than ANDRE MILLER. He was already jealous Kobe’s pass to the backboard was chosen to the top ten and not his!
One question though. If he’s been voted to be an all star. He wouldn’t have refused it would he?

I agree with Miller on that, I mean Aldridge makes a difference in wins and losses over the high flying Griffin. He gets to much attention, sure he is fun to watch, he can jump over, wait on top of a car in a dunk contest. Wasn’t impressed by that either. Just goes to show its a popularity contest not based on better or worse. Griffin is a bad dude, I would love to have him on my team. I enjoy watching him on sports center every night throwing down over anybody and everybody. Aldridge however is putting up sick numbers, and winning games. despite his 2 missed free throws last night. Miller should be sticking by his teammate. He is sick.

put Aldridge as a clipper and lets see if he can play like an all star…
