Brandon Jennings: ‘I’m Not the Go-to Guy’

Jennings is less than pleased with his role in Scott Skiles’ offense this season. Brew Hoop reports: “Brandon Jennings, after struggling and then not playing at all in the fourth quarter in the home loss to Chicago [Saturday night]: ‘It ain’t like last year. I’m not the go-to guy as I was last year. So I’ve just got to roll with the punches and when I get the ball, I guess I’ve got to do something with it. Because I know I probably won’t get it back … Just in general, last year, I was more the go-to guy. Things were running kind of through me … So this year I just kind of have to wait. And if it comes back to me it comes back to me. If not, then, hey, it is what it is.’ Since the offense apparently isn’t going through him anymore, I asked Jennings who the offense is going through now: ‘Obviously it’s not me, so I don’t know. So I just wait for it. And see what happens.’”

Well, if your starting PG doesn’t know “who the offense is going through”, then you have a problem.

C’mon Brandon, don’t be THAT guy.

you’re not the go to guy as you were last year because you are not playing at the same level as last year. You’re just not very consistent this year bro.

  • Drew

If he’s the starting PG how does he not know who the offense is going through?

Does anybody still really fear the deer?

  • MikeC.

@BossTerry – the front of my car always fears deer.

to be fair even with all his talent he shouldn’t be atm, he’s too young and has better talent around him. he’s a good number two in a decent 1-2 punch though

    Haha @ MikeC

I think that was a shot at the coach personally because Jennings said last year it went through me…Last year they made the playoffs & had a better year. He’s saying this year it’s not & you see where it’s getting us. Honestly Jennings probably just wants to get out of Dear town….Jennings would be a great fit for the Clippers & if he keeps talking the price won’t be to much

Jeez, talk about being passive aggressive there, Brandon. You don’t get to be the go-to-guy when you shoot 37% from the field.

last year you were the go to guy who shot 37 percent from the field..which was lower than your 3 point percentage. Go to guy indeed. He held it down in the playoffs tho.

So much wrong with this. First of all, he wasn’t the go-to guy last year. Bogut was, and that’s what opened everything up for Brandon. Bogut has been a shell of his former self since the arm injury and that’s why the whole team has struggled, although injuries and Salmons ineptitude haven’t helped either. I love seeing Jennings want to be the man and not being satisfied with how they’re playing, but this isn’t the way to go about it. I agree that Skiles isn’t the right coach for this team though. His offense is completely ineffective and he has refused to make any changes to it all year.

Why would a sub-40% shooter who can’t finish in the paint be a “go-to-guy”?

  • Sam J

Dammit it Bogie, why couldn’t you have just held onto the rim…

  • Fab-5 Elite

    He was never the go-to-guy
