Yao Ming, Greg Oden on the Warriors’ Radar?

Time to get excited Warriors, fans! Your squad will reportedly consider signing a center with a harrowing history of devastating injuries this summer. From the San Fran Chronicle: “If the Warriors can’t find their coveted center upgrade at the trade deadline or in the draft, they would consider injury risks Greg Oden or Yao Ming at a discounted rate in the offseason. ‘When you’re looking at what you can do to get better, you have to consider the possibility of what an injured player today might be able to do when he returns,’ said general manager Larry Riley, who can’t name players under contract with other teams. ‘A lot has been done down that road, and more will be done … It’s not a secret. We have either got to get the players we have to play better in and around the basket, or we have to get somebody else,’ Riley said. ‘That’s really where we are, so I might as well say it.’”

    at discount rates, low-risk high-reward.

yao’s dead weight and the blazers ain’t giving oden away anyway, so basically what are they going after…
and they ain’t doing anything notable with monte as their 2guard (best player at the moment) by any means
he would be a great sixth man on a championship roster, that’s it

Given the large population of Asians in and around the Bay Area and the fact that San Francisco is a major market, of course the Warriors want Yao Ming. Even if he hardly plays, he’d be a cash cow. As for Oden? Best of luck buddy.

2 worst fits evar? These dudes would never make it past their defensive half court.

Oden to the Raptors. Not sure if Yao will comeback, but hopefully he will pull it together.

Don’t be so sure about the Blazers not giving Oden away. Only thing he’s proven them is that he is incredibly injury-prone.

That way they’ll be able to have even more injured players than last year!

@Elmaar… for real? Monta would not fit being a 6th man on a championship team… He is a legit 2 Guard

As a Rockets fan, I would LOVE to see Yao gone, that way we can FINALLY get past the Yao/T-Mac/Van Gundy era FOR GOOD. Yao was always a disappointment to me anyway. Always injured, and when he wasn’t, he was soft. at 7 foot 6, you should be leading the NBA in rebounds every year. Really, the only thing he was good for is that he could finish games to make sure the Rockets kept their lead to win and the money he brought in because of all the Chinese support. (from China and the large Chinese population in Houston.

Yao Ming?? Seriously? I would rather try and tempt Patrick Ewing to come over…and I’m not talking about coaching.

This would be a terrible decision for the Warriors. Yao’s career is over and the Warriors would just be wasting money on him. Oden still has some potential if he can ever stay healthy because is young enough. This is why the Warriors will never win a championship.

Keep in mind if Yao changes teams, all of his fans in China will buy his new jersey…a team could probably use just jersey sales to make up for the entire contract…

@Jon how can they never win a championship when they already have?

  • Boss Bailey

Both of them need to try to find a way to sign with Phoenix.

  • elmaar

    @boss terry
how could you say monte won’t fit that role he fits that perfectly considering he’s too small for his position who can’t guard big 2s and is a high volume shooter which would distrupt chemestry on a great starting unit…that being said I believe he and guys like jeff green, lamar odom who are great scorers and not so great at defending their position are the prototypical 6th men in this league if we talk championship

  • ab40

yeah cuz vince carter is jumping again in phoenix… right? haha be real. Greg oden needs to get down to 260 and slowly add weight not get injured at 250 and go back to playing at 290 and being surprised your knees buckle. That their medical staff is so incompetent is beyond me. Yao should lose some weight to. The next five years there is no next shaq in sight. Players like wilt and shaq come around every 25/30 years.

  • Mike From Spain

@ ab40 you are so right, I lost 15 pounds, b4 I’d get sore knees if I played ball two times a week, now I play much harder and longer and hardly ever get sore knees… I cannot begin to imagine the change with 30 pounds weight loss.

5:35– not me, I’ll stay outta your guys argument, just know elmaar, your not arguing with the REAL BossTerry.. (Seriously, is it too much to ask that people get a little creative and make-up your own s/n?)??
