DeMar DeRozan Moving on in London

by John Hobbs / @johnswisshobbs

LONDON — A relaxed DeMar DeRozan took to the O2 Arena floor a different man to what he was the previous day, when he had not long got off the plane. He was energetic and joking around with teammates, then THAT question about the recent Dunk Contest popped up.

The Raptors‘ rising star though took the question in his stride — the second-year pro rolled his eyes and laughed.

“As of right now, personally, I don’t want to do the Dunk Contest anymore. I did it two years in a row, and it was definitely fun, and I had a great experience with it, but for me, it’s time to move on from the All-Star Weekend,” DeRozan stated.

Many people thought DeRozan should have advanced to the final round, but it was not meant to be. The man from USC brushed that chapter away now, and is ready to go here in London.

“We’re looking forward to taking the floor here. It’s different than what we’re accustomed to, no doubt. But, it’s just another regular-season contest, and we’re going to play to win, simple,” DeRozan explained.

The final game before their trans-Atlantic adventure was a 96-90 victory over New Orleans, where DeRozan hit 17 points, skidding a two-game slide.

“We want to finish this season off strong, we’ve had a tough season, and all we can do is finish strong,” DeRozan admitted.

    Why is it still news?

He’s done with All-Star Weekend for sure if he’s not entering the dunk contest.

    Hey…it’s mid February again!

  • JTaylor21

Looks like he cares more about dunk contests than winning actual games.

Yo JT, I don’t think you watch DeRozan. He was the second best player in the Dunk Competition, talent-wise. Secondly, look at his team in Toronto; he doesn’t have much to work with. Thirdly, he has the point-increase amond sophmores. He can shoot well, play defense, get to the free-throw line, and he can dunk on your family. I would advise you to keep quiet.
    Peace.

By next year Demar DeRozan will be THAT dude. I think so highly of his game that i’d trade him for kobe bryant (i’m a lakers fan btw). This dude reminds me of young kobe. His stats for his 1st two years look really similar to those of kobe. he’s gonna be great

To bad he’s forced to answer these dip sh*ts same questions over and Over making it appear like he does care about that rigged, piece of garbage dunk comp. And in the process it killed his mood to, like during the all star game when they showed marv pestering Melo on the bench in the middle of the game repeating “so where you playin ball next week ni**a” … In so many words. Bugging the hell out of a player just trying to have a good time like Demar in London. Fools need to watch a guy named cabral richirds (cabbie) and see how a real interview is done.

    co-sign Chukaz

It’s kinda sad that he got ripped off on his both dunk contests. I really would have wanted to see what Demar had up on his sleeve in the final round of the last dunk contest.

“He’s said this at least four times now since all-star weekend.
