Mark Cuban Would Trade for Ricky Rubio

When it comes to the Euro point guard, if the Timberwolves are willing to sell, Mark Cuban is definitely interested in buying. The Pioneer Press reports: “Cuban sees better days for the Wolves. ‘I think (Minnesota) has a star in the making in Ricky Rubio,’ Cuban said. Cuban, who has a passion for basketball, said he has seen the young Spaniard point guard play several times. The Wolves chose Rubio with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft when he was just 18 years old. The Wolves are confident Rubio will play for them next season. But if they want to trade him, Cuban said, they’ll have a buyer. ‘We’re very high on him,’ Cuban said. ‘If they want to give him up, we’re very interested. We would do that in a heartbeat.’ The year the Wolves drafted Rubio, the Mavs had the 22nd overall pick before trading down with Oklahoma City to No. 24 and taking center Byron Mullens from Ohio State. ‘We tried to trade up to get Rubio,’ Cuban said. ‘But we weren’t close. We would have loved to draft him.’ The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Rubio is averaging just 5.9 points, 4.3 assists and 23 minutes in 38 games for the [FC Barcelona] team in Europe this season. The Wolves are hoping to buy out his remaining contract for $1 million this summer.”

Well the Mavs do have a need for a point after this season so they might throw in JJ and Boiboa for Rubio. I think Rubio doesn’t want to play for the Wolves anyway. Expect him to be traded this summer.

might as well trade for roddy buckets because rubio wont fit well with the wolves style of play. eurolegue stats are very misleading because it doenst really favour point guards statisticly like it does wing players. look at jennings for example. the nba is a more open faster paced game and that suits him much more

rodrique beaubois is a great young point that they need to focus on. Forget rubio.

Actually, Ricky Rubio is playing for FC Barcelona and not DKV Joventut.

Actually, Rubio is playing with FC Barcelona for the last 2 seasons.

    A Joventut fan.

Kaaaaaahnnnn! Ricky Rubio will be a Timberwolf next year (pending the lockout)… you can bank on that. Then, he’ll be a Knick in no time. Make it happen, Walsh.

Ricky is one of the best defenders in Europe, at least in terms of steals. He has Nash-like court vision, but it seems to work on defence as well as offence, allowing him to break up plays before they start. Too bad he can’t shoot like Nash, but its a hell of a lot easier to improve as a shooter than a defender.

Man you need to kick Rick Carlisle in the butt; you can forget the ring.

Give Casey a chance, Rick will have you out in the first round again, that is IF you make the playoffs. Rick calls the guys soft? He’s soft as a wet noodle.

Casey has great offense and rotation, watch the team perk up if Casey’s in charge

I’m sick of this crap …
