Derrick Rose on Celtics: ‘We Know We Can Beat Them’

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

Despite the gnashing of teeth from the folks who pray at the altar of advanced statistics — the ones trying to convince the world that Dwight Howard is the NBA’s most valuable commodity — the Chicago Bulls’ decisive victory over the Boston Celtics last night, in front of a national TV audience, cemented Derrick Rose as the 2010-’11 MVP.

Rose was his usual spectacular self, scoring 30 points and dishing out 8 assists (while his defense helped turn Rajon Rondo into a non-factor for much of the night.)

Derrick then once again displayed something that can’t be measured through numbers, which coupled with the Bulls’ stifling defense, has turned Chicago into a title contender — a galvanizing, unwaivering belief that the Bulls can beat anyone come Playoff time.

Yes, that includes Boston, a possible Eastern Conference Finals opponent. Yahoo! has the quotes:

Within the Bulls’ locker room, they will privately tell you: The belief changed when the Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. Teammates remembered Rose’s vibe transforming the room, resonating with everyone. They have such great respect for the Celtics and learned so much from losing to them in the playoffs two years ago. The Bulls suspected they had completely closed the gap on Boston, but word of the Perkins trade ran through the room like a live wire on Feb. 24. The Bulls beat Miami that night and they’ve run off 20 of 23 games since the Celtics made the move.

With Perkins gone, everything changed for the Celtics and they knew it: the toughness, the tenacity, the presence in the post. “He was tough,” Rose said. “We could defend on someone that was big. He was really tough to go around. … They’re different.” Different doesn’t mean better. It means diminished. The Bulls beat the Celtics 44-22 in the paint, beat them badly on the boards, too. They assailed the Celtics the way the Celtics used to assail everyone else. “We know we can beat them,” Rose flatly said.

The surging Bulls are on the verge of locking up the top seed in the Eastern Conference, while Boston looks and sounds like a team unsure of itself (unsure of what the very near future holds.)

The postseason is of course an entirely different animal from these regular season battles, and we all know not to count out the Celtics, but it’s become increasingly clear: in the East, all roads to the NBA Finals go through the Windy City.

CHICAGO STRONG!!!!! at 58-20…. to all those BULLS fans from chicago who have waited a long time for a contender…. here you got it!! and DERRICK ROSE, the whole city has your back and support for what has turned out to be an amazing season!! LETS WORK HARD AND FINISH THE DEAL TO GET 16 WINS!! CHICAGO!!!!!

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Is it the real season yet? **snickers**

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

It’s safe to say Rose supporters can’t use the “humble” crutch anymore.

  • http://masterx1983@hotmail.com marchalmadness

chicago will lose the ECF against boston or miami! but they will have a tough task against DRose, thats for sure!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

Yeah, beat them in the second round. We’ll see you in the EC finals.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

    Oh, wait…

  • bull22

    @orange4ever, we are almost there.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

For Boston, no Perk = no finals. I’ve said it since the trade was made and I’ll stand by it. People underestimate his importance to that Celts squad. I think Boston will lose to either Miami or Chicago in a 7 game series.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    Derrick Roserson

  • bull22

@wayno, boston is still dangerous though, i dont think miami can get them, their bench is not strong enough, but who knows. iam sure the celtics are giving away nothing, like the last three seasons.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    @bull22: Guess what? I can’t wait.

  • bull22

@wayno but still can’t believe they coughed up perkins like that…

  • bubbarundt

Now i am a huge Celtic fan but ever since that Perkins trade i made a look-a-like doll of Danny Ainge and i ve been using it to wipe my a$$ after every man sized dump i take!
I m still riding with ´em but man it will take a miracle.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Danny was a 2011 chipblocker trading Perk like that.

  • bull22

@orange4ever and neither can i. all these arguments throughout the year will be settled and some users will start coming up on the missing persons list once their team loses or switch teams…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jahmai

Not ‘humble’, eboy you don’t sh*t about drose, what is he supposed to say: I don’t know if we can beat em. This has nothing to do with him not being humble. He keeps telling people to not call him the MVP, he blames every loss on himself, he calls Luol Deng the MVP, seriously, what’s wrong with you?

D Rose is the real deal and he’s only going to getting better! Scary thought! Lakers 4 Life!!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

Yeah, not saying they’re an easy out, they’ll give any team in the league trouble, I just think that trade bumped them from 1st in the East to 3rd.

  • vtrobot

Stop it. DRose is a humble dude. I won’t be that upset if it’s these Bulls who do end up knocking the C’s out. Deng seems like a good dude too. You could see him asking KG to not act like such an @sshole last night. I wouldn’t assume that the C’s are going to play exactly like that in the playoffs. Pretty much everyone had an off night, but that is partly due to the Bulls great D. Rose is unbelievable in the paint. Boozer seems to be waxing his eyebrows now. I think it gives him a bit more quickness. No matter what happens this year, when the Bulls get a good starting 2, they will be DANGEROUS for a while.

  • vtrobot

    @ Wayno: I’ll go with a close 2nd.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Just because the media tells you that Derrick is a humble guy doesn’t make it true. Just because the media tells you that Kobe is aloof doesn’t make it true. Just because the media tells you that Gloria James isn’t a moro…..oh wait.

  • Fat Lever

I respect D Rose’s game immensely, but let’s see if he can lead his team past the first round. It’ll probably happen this year, but still. Some Bulls fans still talking like it’s 1998 and not 2011. And the road through the east really goes through Boston(not geographically of course), because if they’ve proved anything, they aren’t as concerned about seeding in the regular season, they turn it on in the playoffs.

My father met Derrick at an airport a summer or two ago at the Las Vegas airport ( when they were practicing for the Olympics) and my dad said he was so humble and chill that it seemed kind of awkward for a NBA player. But nonetheless Derrick had a 5-10 minute conversation about the scrimmage they played the night before and how the Bulls are looking like for the next year. Thats how I know Derrick Rose is humble , not by just watching ESPN

  • http://www.dimemag.com Royal

    * World Championships

  • JTaylor21

I really think that last night doesn’t matter in the long run to the celtics. They know that they can go into any building and win on the road in the playoffs, so I don’t they are worried too much. Ray Allen is not going to struggle like that again, PP always steps up his game in the post-season, KG well is KG, Rondo seems to put up monster numbers in the playoffs and Doc is the best at making adjustments.
Anybody that doubts the celtics will eat crow come playoff time.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

You know who was humble? John Stockton. You never saw Stockton in shoe ads every other month did you? Let’s be real and not talk as if the kid is the second coming of Ghandi. He’s a high-level pro athlete with a shaky personal history coming out of his one year in college. It’s pretty obvious that anyone working on his marketing aspect have tried to mold him into a “humble” presence. I’m not doubting anyone that says the kids nice off the court….there’s no doubt about that….but he’s not humble on the court and off the court speaking about his own ability and his teams. That’s not humbleness…that’s confidence…there’s a large difference.

  • Dagger

Yeah, none of these players at the highest level are humble, period. The fact is humility might have driven them to excel up to a certain level, but I think guys need a bit of hubris, or at least confidence, to be a true franchise player. I don’t actually think Rose is much more humble than Kobe or Lebron, but, so what? He’s an amazing player and still seems like a decent guy.

  • Waggle

When you’re the most dominant pg in the league, why would you be humble? And who cares? You want your leader to have some swagger, dont you?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

“When you’re the most dominant pg in the league, why would you be humble? And who cares? You want your leader to have some swagger, dont you?” Exactly…..therefore….not humble.

  • http://www.dimemag.com Royal

I think confidence and humbleness can coincide, as long as that person is not over-confident and somewhat arrogant. I don’t see any evidence that dude is arrogant or has too much confidence.

  • JoeMaMa

‘Humble’ can mean a lot of things. Being humble doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have confidence. Being courteous and respectful also implies humility. Also, stating a belief, ie. “We know we can beat them” and beating them doesn’t mean he’s some cocky bastard. I don’t love DRose; I’ve actually been saying DHoward should be the MVP. But I still see an immensely talented, great young PG, who shows humility and respect in most instances.

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com/ airs

there’s a major difference between cocky and confident, and drose is the latter.
and pardon me, but did he say “I can beat them”?
he said we know we can beat them. the chicago bulls can beat them.
and in a sport where nearly every damn player is an egotistical, arrogant showoff, derrick rose is none of these.
have you ever seen him throw a puff of powder in the air? or put a show on hours after the game to shoot around for the media? how is having a shoe commercial not being humble? he almost never even yells or hits his chest after a big shot.
did you see his interview at halftime?
god, this is ridiculous. apparently to be great and humble is impossible

  • HAMMER

Man. Who gives a damn if he’s humble or not. He’s got his team winning. That’s the bottom line

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com/ airs

god dammit slam wtf is up with these comments not going thru. this one will of course.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Nice pic for the thread. On another note, we all know why the Bulls are doing so well this year…It’s cause they have BRIAN SCALABRINE! OH yea! =P

  • dsleepy

so I have a question for you guys…the celtics reportedly made the perkins trade “for the future” when they already had a team that was (imo) a heavy favorite to come out of the east and at the very least put up a hard fight for the title. so when is it ok to sacrifice the present for the future? at what point do you draw the line? if you have a LEGIT title-contender (missing perkins, almost won game 7 last year) do you make the trade? because i am pretty sure (although you can never really know what would happen) that ainge just gave up a golden opportunity at a ring this year. they might even lose to Miami now.

  • dsleepy

also, props for that picture of snoopy

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com/ airs

what do you want him to say?
“oh yeah, we were lucky to get that win tonight. in fact, we’ve been lucky all season. i have no idea how we’re first place with all these elite teams in our conference, its a blessing. i don’t deserve MVP, give it to dwight, he’s a cool guy.”
please, and wtf does being in a shoe ad have to do with humility.
in an sport with the most narcissistic athletes, you’d be hard pressed to find such a great player with and even better attitude towards the game. gtfoh with that sh*t

  • bashmo

Well theres Humble, then theres Confident. Lets not confuse the two. I think you can be humble, but also confident and Drose is both, lets not get it twisted. And by now…if people are still arguing MVP cases, come on, its been over.

  • JTaylor21

Rose has a better attitude towards the game?
The same guy that said “the worst thing you can do is give me confidence”, the same guy that said “why can’t I be MVP”
    Where they do that at?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Rose fans are starting to level out at Kobe fan levels. This is not a good development. If you are acting like you a Public Defender in a comment section for a particular player who’s personality (or lack thereof) is being discussed (not criticized) and no one is speaking poorly ABOUT HIS GAME…something is conventionally wrong with that line of thinking.

  • http://pickandroll.tumblr.com/ airs

how is that a bad attitude towards the game?
    honestly?
“why can’t i be MVP” is bad because?…
he’s been on record to say it numerous times that if he’s not striving to be the best then shouldn’t even be playing the game. what kind of attitude do you want him to have?? to be content with being a mid-level all-star?
and to have confidence is bad, very very bad.
    gotcha.

  • vtrobot

i’d always heard that stockton was an @sshole, but maybe it was the media who told me that. drose gave god credit for his abilities which, IMHO, is being too humble since there is no god. take the credit for your hard work, my man. i’m not going to debate this humble issue too much more, i’m just saying that i’d rather watch my team lose to a dude who values (or claims to) team accomplishments more than personal accomplishments and acts like he has respect for the game and his opponents, more than losing to a jaw-jutting prick. WWJ(Shuttlesworth)D?

  • http://www.dimemag.com Royal

I also think it’s slightly awkward when an individual goes through considerable lengths to prove that a player is not humble. Every instance when there is an article about a player making a confident statement a particular person jumps on the article saying something like “It’s safe to say Rose supporters can’t say he is humble anymore”.

  • JTaylor21

I give up Rose fans. The man has done more for the less fortunate than Mother Theresa, he found the cure for Aids, has been known to heal the blind, turned water into wine and fed a thousand people with five loafs of bread.

  • r2j

From Chi-town and 2 years ago, Bulls took Boston to a 7-game series in the best playoffs series in NBA history. Now that Perkins is in OKC, Rose is right, they are a different team without Perkins. When Rondo misses a open layup and the team misses the next 2 shots on the same posession that’s bad news if you’re Boston.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Come to think of it….the more accurate comparison between current Bull/Rose fans are to the Cav/Lebron fans of the last few years. Extremely annoying fanbases for two teams (in the case of the Bulls…still haven’t proved sh*t when it matters)that had/have done nothing of merit in playoff basketball. Lebron still has to prove he can do something in Miami too. Let these guys do some sh*t except winning best record in the league honors and MVP awards. This means nothing if you look at the Lebron James model from the words of his detractors.

  • jimmer

Chicago are going to win the East. Rj2 is right; the junior-school version of these bulls gave the celts everything two years ago, things have tipped irreversibly in the Bulls favour now. Also, the league office is going to want to see Phil Jackson’s two clubs square off. Miami isn’t even part of the discussion. They forgot this is the NBA, not the Premier League; you can’t buy a title, it has to be earned. They are an unimaginably poor basketball team, who happen to have three very expensive players. If there is a lockout next year, the magnitude of the mess they are in will increase even more.

  • paul

Let’s start by recognizing that no pro athlete is humble. Of course Rose isn’t humble, but he does seem to be a very levelheaded guy who humiliates opponents with his game, not his attitude.

  • izzo

Thanks to this comments section, the word ‘humble’ has lost all meaning and will be stricken from the language. Thank, guys! Now let’s work in that smh nonsense.

  • paul

Secondly, let’s recognize that the Bulls, great as they obviously are, didn’t beat the Celtics last night, so much as the Celtics beat themselves. Rondo, in particular, played miserably. Rondo and the Cs have always been volatile, up and down, but the Perkins trade has obviously taken something from their hearts.

  • bull22

This is really a debate about how humble a guy is? Who gives a fcuk? Is Kobe humble? Is Lebron humble? Is/was MJ ever humble? Is KG humble? Shaq? Does his humility, or lack thereof, make him a better or worse player? Sometimes the convos on here are just idiotic. You clearly don’t know the difference between humble and confident. DRose is confident in his team, as he should be given the body of work they’ve put together. He is humble because even as a superstar he believes he’s part of something bigger than himself. He didn’t state the ‘he’ can beat Boston, he said ‘we’ can beat them. When was the last time Shaq was healthy? Im sorry but Shaq will never be healthy enough to make a real difference.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

    Sorry.
Only Menudo I was ever down with was the big plate of menudo I used to eat sunday mornings to cure my hangovers.
Most Mexicans I know lived for Vicente Fernandez and Ramon Ayala.

@sutphin, i agree. i had no clue until today there was a seniority list around here, LOL! i was at my desk dying of laughter…. but cantrell came back more a little civil later, so i showed some consideration, and just got back to basketball… and yeah drose does have his dentriments on this site, but iam not one of them…

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

Eboy, most Mexicans you know are really Puerto-Ricans, Cubans, Dominicans, Salvadorians, Guatemalans, Ecuadorians, etc. who just got tired of having to correct you every time you called them “Mexican”.
LOL ain’t no Mexicans in Miami…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

You’re not accurate or aren’t a real Mexican. I’m teetering on the later.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

Eboy are you questioning my Mexican-ness?

Damn, all that’s left is for HAMMER to call me a Tío Tomás, Jalen style.

  • jimmer

Who cares about who’s a mexican? Stop being so American. Aren’t we talking about DRose’s character traits or something? Or basketball even?

  • zoom

Lmao I can actually vouch for what Enigmatic is saying. Most Mexicans I know aren’t really into the same stuff as those of us that are of Puerto Rican, Dominican descent etc. Sometimes I like to piss one of my Mexican homeboys off by playing some reggaeton (even tho I hate that sh*t).

@Eboy – OK, OK so saying there’s no Mexicans in Miami is a bit of a strecth.
Most people would say there’s no Mexicans in Alaska but…f*ck, here I am!
But would it be fair to say they are vastly outnumbered by Latinos of other countries?
@HAMMER- If I gotta keep it REALLY real…Jose Alfredo Jimenez is the GOAT.
But I’m bias cause I’m originally from Guanajuato.

  • http://shinefluid@aol.com just bcuz

i love how EBOY makes a statement and everyone goes wild. sometimes i think dude says thing just because he knows he can ruffle your feathers. The truth however is that he is envious and bitter. im sure he really believed the heat would be in the bulls position at the beginning of the season. furthermore, im certain he believed wade/lebron would have won a MVP. Beyond that i guarnatee you he thought boston was miami only compeition coming out the east this year. shocked ths sh*t outta him to see the bulls. i dont blame em

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Uhm…I don’t live in the city of Miami. I live about 20 miles north. In the surrounding areas near me….Mexicans (and Haitians) make up the large majority of the populace. Miami is almost entirely Cuban and Puerto Rican….but as you move north of Miami, the other Latin races make their presence known…..none moreso than Mexicans.

  • takashi

    @ Enigmatic and HAMMER
you guys forgot about Los tigres del norte lol

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Uhm….just bcuz (I can’t even keep up with this new degenerates) I could really give a f*ck who the Heat play in the postseason. You know why? ‘Cause their top two players are better than any other teams top two guys and to be honest, they have another gear they haven’t played yet. The bulls are playing at their peak (which currently is fantastic) and the Celtics appear to have lost that aura of invincibility. The two best wing players in the league will have the final say so in the Eastern Conference. That’s been my belief from the beginning of the season. If they fail….then they need to rethink the roster….but that’s some sh*t for next year. We’ll find out soon enough.

  • takashi

    @ Eboy
in homestead is where most of the mexican population reside

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

    Fair enough, E.
I still contend that I find it hard to believe that the vast majority of Mexicans you know are/were Menudo fans, because they tend to prefer listening to strictly Mexican music.
Then again, when I was younger…I liked La Sonora Dinamita and Celia Cruz.

  • jimmer

@just bcuz – you won’t get a response because you aren’t talking about mexicans but you are absolutely right. Miami have been worse than a disappointment; they are a bad basketball team. Drose is now the topic of conversation – and he actually earned that! He earned recognition, whether good or bad, rather than telling people to look at him! wow, go figure.

If we’ve learned anything from lbj’s cleaveland teams it’s that’s a red flag. i don’t think he can do that consistently in the playoffs..where teams will gameplan better and defend better..and if he fails his team does to.

Banda El Recodo with Julio Preciado was dope as hell.
@datkid – Ain’t nothing new about me being a Bulls fan.
But I can tell you Boozer, Deng and even Gibson or Korver off the bench are all capable of putting up big offensive numbers if need be.
And they won’t shrink in the playoffs like Mo Gotti used to.

Anyways, I do think Rose is relatively humble.
I mean, you can’t be TOO humble and be an NBA superstar.
    Can you imagine that?
“Nah, I’m not gonna sign a max contract cause I don’t deserve one”
“I don’t think I’m even close to being the best point guard in the NBA. I think Rondo, Paul, Williams, Westbrook, Harris, Boykins, and Blake are all better than me”
“I think Watson should start over me cause I’m not worthy of starting”
“Boozer should be our main option”
“I shouldn’t even be on the same court as these guys. I’m just gonna retire and try to work my way up the corporate ladder, starting right from the very bottom”
    F that.
I love that Rose is now more assertive and confident.
Yeah, even cocky on the court.

  • HAMMER

If u think bout it, the tecnobandas started that quebradita craze. The sinaloenses caught on 2 it afterwards. Like Recodo 4 instance. They, b4 quebradita came on the scene, were just a musical banda. They had no vocalist. And would only play rancheras. I thought that was kinda boring. Once they added Julio Preciado is when they took off. Both types of bandas r dope as hell tho no doubt

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

But ur not the 1st one that has said that bout the tecnobandas. And its a argument that I just don’t get. Yes the sinaloense type bandas r the ones that prevailed. I know, right?
I can’t and won’t fault him for having someone take the SAT for him.
The right to go pro at what he loves straight out of high school was taken from him.
If a kid’s good enough to make the leap, why should he have to go to college?
I didn’t have to go to college to join the military.
A welder, plumber or mechanic doesn’t have to go to college to do those professions.
But that’s another debate for another time.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Well, I fault him for being unable to qualify. That means he probably wasn’t handling his business throughout his school career, which is not a good look.
I undertand the unfairness of having to go to college, but he could have taken the Brandon Jennings route if he wanted to. Nobody forced him to go to school.
But, dude made a mistake. Eboy was reaching when he made it seem like Rose had “character issues.”

  • JTaylor21

Umm, why does it matter so much to the fans and media how this guys are off the court?
I didn’t pay 100+ for LP to watch how Bron interacts with people off the court or how good a guy Rose is off the court, I paid that kind of money to see them perform on the court.
Also why is it seen as a bad thing for a player to be confident in their abilities?
I would say race has something to do with but won’t go there, all I’m saying is that there’s nothing wrong with players have supreme confidence in themselves and letting the world known about it.
How many people can say with a straight face that they wouldn’t act and walk around like they were the sh*t if they were among the 300 best ballers in the world.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Dwight Howard has to be licking his chops for the Bulls in the 2nd round. The Magic will end the Bulls season. Book it.

  • doyouwantmore

Humility isn’t not considering yourself the best. Humility is knowing you’re the best at basketball and that makes you no better than the homeless guy you pass on the way to the game.

  • bull22

@iamorange4ever, the magic maybe a hardout because of his defensive prescence. its a maybe because the rest of this team can’t play defense. but i will give him his respect.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

Oh, Orange, please put the pipe down.
Dwight Howard may very well average 30, 20 and 5 blocks per against the Bulls in the second round.
But the rest of his team won’t help him much.
Anyways, speaking of League Pass, is there seriously idiots out there who shell out $50 this late in the season just to watch the last 5 or 6 days of the regular season?

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

The Heat and Celtics are the ONLY two teams in the East that could take out the Bulls in the playoffs.
    Book THAT.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Enigmatic, the Rose led Bulls getting out of the first round for the very first time, Rose winning MVP, along with Thibs getting COY are all positive steps in the right direction for the Bulls franchise. Don’t let the Magic ending the Bulls season in the 2nd round spoil what a great season the Bulls will have had. Real talk.

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

And while we’re thinking positive, maybe your Knicks can finish more than 5 games over .500 next year!

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

did bulls22 just acknowledge a flaw in his favorite team? wow… anyway i think if arenas becomes agent zero or hibachi again the magic could be pretty interesting. remember when he put 60 on the lakers? if not the magic dont look like they’re going anywhere. which they probably arent.

@eboy and @nbk thanks i appreciate the sentiment.

@bulls22 i actually agree with what you said to me…regardless if someone shuts down that engine…the bulls stall and drop. literally NOBODY else on the bulls can create or score anywhere near as well. luol deng is ok but no. and in general i still don’t like you.

@enigmatic-I never said you were new man. I’ve seen your comments here for months and they seem appropriate and well balanced. and again nobody on that team creates as well as rose does…to the point where they basically expect them to win it for them. that’s not a good look come playoff time.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

    dammit…this thing wont show spaces..

@enigmatic-boozer and deng are nice..established players..korver i know less about gibson is nice..but personally i just don’t know. we’ll see soon though

  • http://nobulljive.com Enigmatic

I’ll admit, there have been times I’ve seen some of the other Bulls stand around and watch Rose do his thing, like they were the ’05-’06 Lakers watching Kobe, but it’s been a relatively minor deficieny.
Though the playoffs do have a way of putting those kinds of things under a microscope so like you said, we’ll see.

  • John Hollinger’s Eyebrows

This is all wrong, Derrick Rose sucks. Dwight Howard should be MVP, only a beast like him could rock shirtless long sleeves on a basketball jersey covered in duct tape

  • flipnoyce

I’ve been watching you DRose, theres no doubt you’re a run away MVP.You’re game is tight boy and I’m pretty sure you’re team can beat any team in the league no problem. But, this Eastern record that the Bulls hold have no meaning to the Celtics except home court advantage. I’m still confident that my Celtics is still the team to beat in the East. Perks loss might have had a slight impact on defense but he was a liability on offense and thats a true fact. When Shaq comes back fully recovered you will see that Boston is still the same monster in the post season. I’m not saying he’ll dominate the series but his presence in the paint alone can alter games.

  • BostonBaller

The dad at an airport story was sweet but proves nothing about DR’s humbleness (which I think he is humble) I’ve had convos with players who everyone says is a ^&%^%$@$% and they were just as nice as DR or RAY so does that make them humble players? It makes them human and a players demeanor is often different off the court. I’m sure if some other players answered the same question the same way that DR did they would be labeled as arrogant.

  • BostonBaller

Rose needs to keep doing and saying what he is doing and saying. The media and fans will have you hating this kid before too long. lol

  • BostonBaller

My Celtics still have a great chance at another banner even though my fav center (HULK) is is in OKC. DRose said it himself that w/out Perk the fear level went down and the confidence level went up. I’m sure a lot of teams felt the same way. That shows you what Hulk brought to the table night in and night out. We need to pull it together right now b/c I don’t see us getting much healthier so we need to be more cohesive.

  • Animalxxx13

Rose and the bulls are unproven team in the playoff. I am predicting first round exit for them.

Good for DRose for being confident. Isn’t everybody though. The Bulls are relevant again, and so are the Knicks. Dwight Howard still gets no respect, and Kobe is STILL the man. LeBron is LeBron, DWade got better (is that possible???), Bosh got softer(didn’t think it was possible). Durant got wiser, and the Nuggets got lucky as hell. Celtics are the Spurs of the East. Blake “Quake” Griffin took the league by storm, John WHO? Everybody loves the underdog, but what about a sure thing. ATL and Indiana could shake things up.
