Dwight Howard Wins 3rd Defensive Player of the Year Award

That’s three in a row now for Dwight, and there’s no reason to believe anyone will unseat him from his defensive throne anytime soon. The Orlando Sentinel reports: “The announcement will be coming any day now — maybe this afternoon after Magic practice — that Dwight Howard will be named the NBA’s defensive player of the year. It will be a three-peat for Howard, who has won the award the past two seasons. I voted for Howard on my official NBA ballot. I expect him to win in a landslide, considering the other top candidates were Andre Iguodola, Grant Hill (yes, Grant) and Keith Bogans (another former Magic player. Wow, they could use the defensive help against Atlanta). The Magic have called for a ‘major’ announcement at Amway Center today at 1:30 p.m.”
