Mike D’Antoni Has Support of ‘Melo and Amar’e

The New York media backed the Knicks’ two stars into a corner, asking if they want the embattled head coach back for next season (and, presumably, beyond.) Both say they do. Newsday reports: “Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire raised some eyebrows after Sunday’s season-ending loss to the Celtics with seemingly lukewarm support for Mike D’Antoni. Monday, each spoke to reporters and expressed strong backing for the coach. ‘Mike is a phenomenal coach,’ Stoudemire said. ‘He’s been great my whole career. He’s been great in New York so far this year. I have high confidence in his coaching style and what he can bring to the team. Coach Mike is phenomenal. He’s been doing great all year with the different changes we’ve made throughout the season. We’ve been able to maintain and still have a winning record and also have a chance to do something special in the postseason if it weren’t for injuries, so I have high confidence in Coach D’Antoni.’ Said Anthony: ‘I think D’Antoni was very patient. I only can speak on when I got here. I think he’s been very patient due to the circumstances. We came a long way, especially when I first got here, with the expectations being so high so quickly.’”

I was thinking the same thing. Besides, what are they supposed to say “I hate him, fire the bum now because he cost us at least 2 victories in the playoffs?” No that would be too honest.

Mike D’Antoni is a good coach, yup i said it

i mean how many effing rosters can you coach in a 3 year span?

hahahahhaha, funny how players always use the injury card as to why our season was not special. it was not special because the KNICKS suck! see ya next year special ny suckers! thanks for the gift of being 0-4, it tastes so sweet…… hahahhahahhahahhahahhaha

They have to look good for the media so of course they are not going to bash their own coach. But dude is a horrible coach, i dont care what anyone says. Dude is trash.

Jerry Sloan is available….Just saying, so is Marc Gasol with the fact that the gRizz just have z-bo that 70 mill and they have darrell arthur, they may not make an offer to Gasol that can match the knicks offer

  • hambone

so melo and amare what do you think of your new coach Jerry Sloan?-make it happen Walsh

Knicks won’t have enough money for Marc

  • giogolo

    same old same ol..

  • ohgeefreeks310

@max yea they can they can probably pull something outa their asses for Marc

  • http://slamonline.com AllDayEveryDay

they want to continue to not play D and get 20+ shots. Thats why

  • Landry_legend

If they waive Chauncey they only have to give him 3.7 mill instead of 14….there’s ur room for Marc gasol and better role players

  • Landry_legend

Or even d’andre Jordan at a discounted price. But regardless they should draft a big as well

All NY needs is a legit center, a backup center, a starting 2 (unless Fields’ swoon was just the rookie wall), a starting PG (because Billups is an old 34), a backup PG (because Anthony Carter is 35), and an assistant coach that pushes D. Yeah, the Knicks should have gone Fo’ Fo’ Fo’ Fo’ and won it all. What a massive disappointment this season was. Fire D’Antoni! Fire Walsh! Trade Amare! Trade Melo! Bunch of bums. After a decade of sucking, this was step #1.

@bull22 – funny how I don’t remember ever seeing you post on here until the Bulls were on pace to win 60 games. I’m not sure whether to call you a front-running d-bag or a bandwagon blabbermouth. You can pick which one because they both fit.
