Rivers, Garnett See Chris Bosh As Series X-Factor

by Ryne Nelson

The Heat/Celtics match-up isn’t the most-anticipated series in Round 2 for no reason. Among the many storylines is which Chris Bosh will show up against Kevin Garnett and the Cs.

Doc Rivers and KG both know the Heat will be near impossible to beat in a best of seven if Bosh is playing on point, as he did in Round 1 against the 76ers.

Paul Flannery of WEEI has the report:

“The Celtics know all about LeBron James and they have dealt with Dwyane Wade in the playoffs before, but they will also be paying close attention to Chris Bosh in their conference semifinal series and for good reason.

‘When Bosh plays really well they blow teams out, Kevin Garnett said. ‘It’s not even close.’

[...]

‘LeBron and Wade are going to be LeBron and Wade,’ Doc Rivers said. ‘They were great before the series, they’ll be great during it and they’ll be great after it and this summer when you’re talking about it you’ll say LeBron and Wade are great players. That’s not going to chance. But when Bosh plays great, then their team plays great. He’s a key guy for them.’”

The Heat were 1-3 against the Celtics in the regular season. Bosh didn’t play particularly well, either, averaging 15 points and just over 8 boards against the Green in the regular season.

The Heat may still win the series without Bosh going Beast Mode. But it’ll be tough Miami to lose is if he does.

Jamison is the James Worthy to LeBron’s Magic Johnson. Shaq plays Kareem, Varejo is Rambis, Z’ll be back. The Lakers are in trouble. Big, huge trouble. I don’t know what else to say. If Cleveland stays healthy………………
    LOL!

Its a wrap cavs made the best two moves this season out of the contenders diesel and jamison it wont take long to implement jamison because lebron is unselfish hes never had a problem chemistry wise when cle gets a new player hopefully z comes back for the loyalty factor but its tight on the rest of the L everybody else is looking fragile and the lakers showed they dont want it without jamison this is another 20-10 problem cle 2010 champs
    LOL!

funny to read those comments now, AllBall, but I’ll defend Mvp and Philo by saying that if you went back and looked enough, you’d be able to find laughable comments and analysis from all of us.

Still, its funny. Phil, your my boy.

    @AllBall:
I’m sure that if you looked further into SLAM’s archives, you would find some comments of mine that could be considered quite assinine, AND donkey like.
Now, I even look back at some of my comments, and wonder what in the hell was I thinking…
Check out my comments on Stephon Marbury in China. I was going in with Jukai, and we even went to the e-mail. It was hillarious, to put it diplomatically. To this day, there are residual effects on both sides, I believe. (him, and I)
    As far as “Jamison being Worthy”, I’ll tell the truth to my brethren;

I got caught up in the moment of The King’s greatness. Then, Jamison froze up…
Then Shaq reminded us that he was old back then.
It was a humiliating moment. Then, when the revelation of the actions of fornication between The King’s maternal and Delonte West, that kind of gave me a sense of vindication, but…
    You got me.
    You… own me. lol

And, you are my guy, as well.
You are a beast, to be frank.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

LOL, I was actually not expecting to see your name there. I just typed in Jamison to Cavs and browsed around on this slow Sunday.
I looked for something stupid I have posted about CP to even up the score a little, but I skimmed through one TPU and got bored. By all means, feel free….
I will check out that Steph in China post now.

@ Allenp: Like others said before me – Bosh´s 24 and 12 from last year, dont concern anyone, cause…. well, they are last years numbers. He was playing for the Raptors, who was gonna get the boards? Bargagni? Dont think so……

Bosh is a good player, no doubt. But i am pretty sure KG is gonna eat him alive. Not from a skills standpoint, since Garnett is getting old. But – and that is very important in the playoffs – from a mental standpoint. KG is gonna get into his head.

And what the Celts said about Bosh being the x-factor? Old school mind games. Boston is slick like that.

And no, im not a fan of either team…..

Grabbing 12 boards a game is not an easy thing to do, no matter who you are–EVEN IF you’re the sole rebounder on your team. Just look at Amare Stoudemire–he was pretty much the Suns’ center for several years and never snagged over 10 boards a game, let alone 12. No offense to Amare…

That’s different Teddy, Amare is an awful rebounder when it comes to technique, most of the time it’s like he’s trying to box-out the air.

Bosh is an X-Factor, your career just went down the tube, because an X-Factor is a player who can play, but comes up short a lot (see Lamar Odom).

  • gol d roger

no worries. he played like a bosh

  • http://Slamonline.com Datkid

Word lightsout? Wade spent the entire game chasing ray around screens..to be fair though in general wade does look indifferent when he’s defending off the ball.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics lights out

you’re right, Datkid, he did put in the effort today off the ball, but yeah, he usually doesn’t.

  • jose

Everyone/alot of ppl dissim bosh; that just proves KG/Doc’s point they made about X-Factor, he plays well, the C’s in trouble

  • Brandon

Boston was lunch..the heat bench bench stepped on their necks

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

You gotta admit, I was right when I said Bosh would be scared out of the post….the only time he tried doing something in the post against KG he got blocked…..and embarrassed.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics Byebye

Bosh is so soft if he didn’t want to play today all he couldve done was said he was hurt an let Anthony play good grief

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics lights out

as a Celtics fan, i’m not worried about this loss. we played a terrible first half and still were in the game for a lot of the second half thanks to some great runs. we also made a lot of stupid mistakes (bad, unnecessary technicals, ball-watching which led to 25 points for Jones) and got pretty screwed by the refs (not saying that’s why we lost, but it’s true). besides that, wade played unbelievably, but i’m ok with that, since a lot of those shots were jumpers. i’m confident doc and the guys will make the appropriate adjustments and be more than ready to take game 2.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

Bosh is softer than Gasol when he’s not motivated

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    *When Gasol’s not motivated

  • giogolo

Plus celtics got back everytime Miami looked to get away bcoz momentum would stop everytime lebron would have the ball and wait for things to happen at the top of the key or around the 3 point area where here cieves the ball instrea of tyring to attck everytime and attract defenders. also after WAde’s surges he/they lose momentum coz he already expened a lot of energy on defense gurading rey that his efficiency just goes down cuz he’s tired to create already.

  • giogolo

and Spo doesn’t know and seem to spot that and let Wade get a rest and let the 2nd team with bron carry over for some time. and bron needs to be dynamic then just sit at the top with the ball evryrtime for waht seems like eternity as if waiting to make a great play or something.
