LeBron James: Derrick Rose ‘One Player Away from a Title’

After eliminating the Bulls in stunning fashion last night, LeBron James had very complimentary words for DRose, but it remains to be seen if Rose will get the kind of support he needs offensively to challenge for an NBA championship. From the Chicago Tribune: “Before getting caught up in celebrating his team’s series-clinching victory over the Bulls on Thursday night, Heat star LeBron James embraced Reggie Rose, Derrick’s older brother, and whispered a few words in Reggie’s ear. ‘He said, ‘Tell young fella he’s a hell of a player and that he’s one player away from a title,’ Reggie Rose said, relaying James’ message. As much as he tried to carry the team on his shoulders throughout the entire season, it was too much for Derrick Rose in the end. The final game of the season is one Rose won’t soon forget, one he is certain to use as motivation as he prepares for next season. In the most important game of his young career, Rose admitted making rookie-like mistakes. And once again, he struggled to get it going in the fourth quarter. Rose finished with 25 points and eight assists but shot just 9-for-29 from the field and 2-for-8 from the 3-point line to go with four turnovers. He missed a key free throw down the stretch and committed a foul on Dwyane Wade’s 3-pointer with 1 minute, 30 seconds remaining, resulting in a four-point play. That play deflated the Bulls, who held a 79-72 edge at the time. Rose slumped at the podium after the game trying to comprehend how his team blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead with 3:14 remaining.”

Bulls overachieved everyone’s expectations! Nothing to be ashamed of, that was one hell of a run…I’m already anticipating next season (if there is a season of course).

I guess D Rose should call Durant and ask him to join the Bulls if in 3 years neither one of them would win a championship on their own.

Rose is a winner it’s just natural progression everybody has to pay dues

They’re a perrenial All-Star, another Drose-leap and some good fortune away from a title.

dont blame yourself derrick, iam with tibb’s on i would not have any other player…. you love my hometown as much as i do, and it took a dream team to defeat you… STAND PROUD MAN..

If Boozer played at or even near an All Star level things may have been different.

You gotta loves this guy and his leadership. He messed up big but he didn’t blame anyone else but himself. This guy is a class act.

    I agree with Bron.
But we’ll see if GarPax gets Rose the help, or if Rose will end up like Memphis Bleek, who’s had Jay-Z saying “you’re one hit away!” to him for like the last 15 years.

Who can they trade Boozer for, at the PF spot? Boozer is just deadweight. Also, keeping Bogans in the bench and getting some sort of upgrade in the offense at the #2 would help…

lol @ Rigo with the Memphis Bleek comment hahaha

The Bulls need a 2 most definitely.

  • Oh Nose

or perhaps trade boozer for a high-profile 2 (if possible…lol) and start taj (kurt/asik off the bench)?

    *a decent 2

  • Tyrant56

Chin up Drose but what will be nitresting is what will he do when put in a “The Descion” Situation because by now he should know that he,himself, and nobody else can’t get it done offensively because basketball at its core is still a team sport.

Funny he said that. I had a revelation the other day about Bron winning a chip for Miami and then moving on to the next squad that was one player away from a title. He should only sign one yr. contracts and become a basketball mercenary.

That’s like the Yankees saying all the Padres need is a few more superstars. I’m just hating, bring on the super teams.

  • Oh Nose

hahahaha that would be a unique aspect to the game Dutch Rich. A way LBJ could be better than MJ would be to have a ring from multiple teams

They just need to either trade Boozer or teach him to play some D. He was painful to watch out there — just put your hand up and guard the shooter, dude. And when Rose whips you the pass when you’re open under the basket, don’t take 3 dribbles and let the defenders close in on you.

hey DUTCH RICH thats what I do in 2k11. I have like 9 championships with 7 different teams

  • Oh Nose

@MUBWAR in my player? It gets so boring after the first season even on Hall of Fame :(

  • Deknowz

God knew this would happen, lol D.Rose was a ping pong ball or 2 away from wearing a Heat jersey. I’m glad that Chi-town back court never happened. That team would have been straight up unfair!

  • Darrell Robinson

Rose is really almost there. I knew Rose was good, but I did not know Rose was this good already. Third year in the league and he’s the Regular Season MVP and pretty much single handedly leads his team to the ECF. I’m very impressed. He’ll only get better and that my friends is down right alarming.

The best player the bulls can get right now is Andre Iguodala, he wants out of philly and is young, plus, if the bulls can get him and another role player by trading Boozer and Brewer it woulf finally let everybody stop worrying about boozer´s performance, just get him out and Taj will continue growing next season.
Just imagine what hell of a team it could be with rose/iggy/deng/gibson/noah and cj watson/bogans/korver/gotta get pf/asik
If the bulls can pull off a triple trade like that ill totally lose my mind, it´d be a little difficult because of brand, but if they get a right third team involved who would accept to give up a mid level player then drose can start getting his own larry o brien trophy tatoo
