Miami Heat Defense Limiting Derrick Rose

DRose hasn’t been very MVP-like in the Eastern Conference Finals so far, and for that, he can thank the stifling Heat defense. From the Miami Herald: “Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Sunday morning that defending Derrick Rose is ‘like trying to contain a tornado.’ During much of Game 3 Sunday, Rose was more like a steady drizzle — irritating (from a Heat perspective), but not horribly destructive. And though he had some good moments at times in finishing with 20 points, he didn’t do nearly enough to swing the game in Chicago’s favor … ‘They’re doubling me every pick and roll. I’m trying to create for others,’ Rose said afterward. ‘That’s what I’m going to try to continue to do, sometimes try to beat the double team, sometimes try to pass and make it easy. They’re closing in on the paint.’ In the fourth quarter, Rose had three assists but also two turnovers, his only two of the game. He closed with just five assists, none in the first half. ‘We’ve got to find a way to find easier baskets,’ he said. Sunday’s performance followed a disappointing Game 2 in which Rose scored 21 but shot just 7 for 23.”

The Bulls need a solid 2 guard to run with Rose. Maybe Oj Mayo or Igoudala, Keith Bogans and Ronnie Brewer aren’t going to cut it against the elite in the NBA.

Love Drose but he has to step up now. This is where the big boys do it.

He’s doing what he’s supposed to: drawing two bodies and dishing it off to teammates. Problem is those teammates either can’t finish, turn it over, or make bad decisions, nullifying any advantage and allowing the guy doubling Rose to return to his man. We need some more playmakers, Rose is doing the right thing.

Oh well thats what happened to Labron in Cleveland the same exact thing
Drose has regular season players who can hustle their way to victories but in the post season that stuff is game planned for Labron been through it
Your second and third leading scorers have to be that deng has to shoot like game one

The MVP’s team having trouble because he’s the sole All-Star on a team full of role players? I wonder if this sequel will be different from the others.

if y’all are saying this bulls team is comparable to the cavs teams, this ain’t even a discussion.

Tornadoes have nothing to do with rain. Horrible analogy. Should have used duststorm or something.

I am also surprised Rose has not destroyed bibby yet, i mean bibby isn’t a defensive presence from my current knowledge on him

can everybody just cut the bulls some slack? They are overachieving this year big time. Next year they’ll be even better (steadier). The Heat are a fairytale team, with stars taking less salary so basically they assembled a team that would have taken a tremendous amount of luck for a team building from the draft and free agency to do. Not many other teams have stars making less than they could (Duncan, DHow come to mind), and definitely not all 3 top stars. You can call it collusion amongst them or whatever but really they made the financial sacrifice to form an awesome team and it’s coming together now with not just offense but their defense.

And I’m not a Heat fan. In fact I root against them since I feel that they should not have been able to form this team. But you gotta recognize that they are really gelling well right now. And when you have three superstars at their prime (yes Bosh is playing like one now) it’s near impossible to stop in the playoffs. The Celts were good even with 3 superstars who were past their prime! Get ready for some years of domination. Sadly for me the Lakers can’t even compete even if they traded for CP3 or Dhow (pipe dreams I know) because Kobe is getting older. Maybe he’s just hurt (part of the game tho for everyone), but definitely losing a couple steps.

is it me or does derrick rose sound illiterate whenever he talks?

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

^ I’m pretty sure Rose can read.
Did you mean he doesn’t sound articulate?
He gets paid to play basketball, not quote Shakespear.

@g, does Rose do his interviews from a teleprompter? Not sure how you tell if someone’s illiterate from the way they speak… Co-sign Rico. Rose just has a terrible problem with mumbling, his speech isn’t all that bad considering his background.
