Perkins: Stop the Westbrook Criticism

As Kendrick Perkins knows well, criticism can often be relentless, especially at this stage in the Playoffs: “How can a player so good be portrayed as a player so bad? This much is certain: Westbrook’s teammates are sick of it. One of them stands 6-foot-10, weighs 280 and wears an omnipresent scowl. ‘I am getting tired of the criticism that he’s got to take day in and day out,’ Perkins said of Westbrook. ‘We won the game. Eric played his behind off, and yet it (reporting) still came down to coach benching Russ in the fourth quarter.’”

I hope he intimidates reporters and a camera crew captures it.

All he has to do is play better and win games, then everyone will stop complaining.

Good move from coach to move Westbrook to the bench at the end, Russ has to learn how to play in late game situations.

everybody complaining about shot selection…Westbrook was 2nd ALL NBA. OKC won 56 this year Westbrook helped!!! Westbrook & Harden are the only 2 guys on that team who get any shot they want. So please everyone making this more than what it is. Remember RW is easy the 2nd best player on this team

I think they have a two-time NBA scoring champion that also can get any shot he wants.

Westbrook may be 2nd team all NBA, but that doesn’t mean he has good shot selection. 1st team has a guy named Bryant, Kobe. I don’t think he’s one of only two guys on the Thunder who can get “any shot they want.” In fact, he’s not that guy, and neither is Hardin, who is a good role player as well (14ppg is hardly a volume scorer). They have one guy who can do that, and he’s not getting the ball. I think that’s where the complaints are coming from… Westbrook can score, but if he were as good as you’re claiming, they wouldn’t be down, and they wouldn’t have won the game he was benched.
