Zach Randolph Agrees With Kevin Durant: He’s the Best

KD was very complimentary to Z-Bo following the Grizzlies’ series-opening win in OKC, and Randolph was happy to agree with Durant’s assessment of his blossoming game. From the Commercial Appeal: “Someone informed Zach Randolph about what was being said about him in the Oklahoma City Thunder locker room, and the Grizzlies’ power forward shot back with a line as snappy as the one he put on the final statistical sheet. Oklahoma City’s scoring machine Kevin Durant basically called Randolph unstoppable and the best on the planet at his position. ‘I’ve got to agree with that. Thanks, KD,’ a smiling Randolph said while sitting in front of a microphone as the interview room filled with laughter. But a sellout crowd in Oklahoma City Arena spent slightly more than 2 hours Sunday failing to see the humor. Randolph’s feathery jump shot, and bump-and-grind scoring ability around the basket was on full display as he amassed a career playoff-high 34 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Griz to a 114-101 victory in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series against the Thunder. Randolph bullied his way around the paint and his low-post sidekick, Marc Gasol, added more muscle (20 points, 13 rebounds) to the Griz, snatching away home-court advantage by imposing their will and brand of basketball.”

  • BigFutureLG Posted: May.2 at 10:08 am
Yea man….Z-bo is getting even with the league for his all star snub just bc he isnt the flashiest or athletic player around…

  • Max Posted: May.2 at 10:19 am
    ZBOOOOO
I think he is the best pf right now, who’s better?

  • JoeMaMa Posted: May.2 at 10:21 am
I just wanna poke his belly and hear him giggle. I wish he’d wear Kanye’s bear suit while playing.

  • omphalos Posted: May.2 at 10:25 am
He’s playing the best of the PFs in the playoffs, doesn’t necessarily make him the best. Too small a sample size to make that judgment.

  • Riggs Posted: May.2 at 10:25 am
@RunNGun: the knicks had him but he wasnt in the right enviroment over here to change his attitude and life around. I’m glad hes gotten away from that stupidity.

  • robb Posted: May.2 at 10:27 am
    @omphalos agreed

Z-Bo’s great, one of the best PF in the league right now. But the unsung hero of this series? The defense of Shane Battier and Tony Allen. Trust me, swap these two with anybody else in the league who are in the same salary range and you would not get the same result.

I have a Zbo Knicks jersey, now I don’t have to hide it in shame anymore.

Kiss of death when someone gives a compliment. Nobody needs to kiss ass and start feeling themselves. Maintain that edge like nobody respects you. But, whatever works. This series is exciting. Two small market teams and lots of hunger and lots of athletes. Hope it goes 7.

why was pau and allstar over this guy? for that matter why was pau an allstar over his brother?

  • martey Posted: May.2 at 11:04 am
Been praising this kid’s talent for years…one of my favorite players..he use to be a black hole for offense but learned to pass and his outside game has polished..I’m a knicks fan and the team up with curry was a bad idea..and his behavior has been model like despite the bad rep…hope he in the all star next year

ZBo is doing for the the city of Memphis…. And we love love ZBo for what he’s doing for us! It’s not just him though tose youngsters in on the team have really stepped up….

  • Max Posted: May.2 at 11:33 am
    @ Angus the question is
WHY the F is Tim Duncan an allstar over ZBO when he’s averaging like 13 nd 8?

  • fruizm Posted: May.2 at 11:58 am
i bet he goes to town with all the southern food too!

Grizzlies looked like a veteran team in the playoffs. They’re executing plays and hustling after everything. They have a real shot at going to the Western Conf. Finals if OKC can’t figure it out.

  • 1982 Posted: May.2 at 12:29 pm
Everyone was ready to write him off as Eddie Curry a few years ago and now he’s the best PF? This years playoffs are doing wonders…

Just sayin: The Knicks beat the Grizzlies at Memphis on a Melo game winner, and then followed that up by beating ish out of them by 21 at the WMFA sans STAT. SERIOUSLY, let’s be real, the Grizzlies are not contenders in the Western Conference. They caught a tired and RIPE Spurs team that was sputtering down the stretch of the regular season, and got lucky and stole a game from a Thunder team that as a group are in the 2nd round for the first time ever. IMHO, whichever team wins the Lakers/Mavs series is going to the NBA FINALS.

    @Max
    Lifetime achievement award.

  • nbk Posted: May.2 at 12:39 pm
Dirk is still the top PF. ZBo is offensively in the conversation though.

  • Anon Posted: May.2 at 12:49 pm
They made it farther than the Knicks to didn’t they? Alright then

  • Max Posted: May.2 at 1:32 pm
    @ Tealish
That’s why we have the HOF

Zach Randolph is the best PF in the league. His offensive and defensive games are complete. He can destroy you from inside, and you can’t back down on his jumper or he’ll hit in your eye…Even from 3 point range. Zach was snubbed in the all-star selections, and has carried this Grizzly team on his back all year. I am so proud of him because he is burying everyone that ever doubted him.

  • nbk Posted: May.2 at 6:03 pm
its hilarious when people think Zach Randolph is even a decent defender. Sad when they say his defensive game is “complete”

  • unf*ckwitable Posted: May.2 at 6:30 pm
@ORANGE, stop talking bout the knicks son, they’re done.
