Jason Kidd: LeBron Will Win Multiple Championships

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

The fact is that LeBron James came up small on the biggest stage during the NBA Finals.

He looked passive and unsure, and his numbers took a significant dip during the title round. James averaged a playoff-low 17.8 points in the Finals and scored a total of 18 points in the fourth quarters of all six games.

The fact also remains that LBJ is still the most talented basketball player on the planet, and the Miami Heat will be competing for titles for years to come.

It’s something Jason Kidd knows all too well, pointing out that winning a ring takes patience, and that the greats often have to suffer crushing defeats prior to achieving championship glory. Just ask Kidd’s teammate, Dirk Nowitzki.

ESPN has the quotes:

“I will reach out to him. He’s a good friend of mine,” Kidd said Tuesday during the team’s exit interviews. “I want him to have success and be successful. But, I think right now, it’s just being patient and all the great ones had to be patient. They had to take their bumps or lumps, however you want to look at it. But, at the end of the day, they all found a way to win a championship. And I think at the end of his career, he’ll have a couple championships.”

Kidd said James has to overcome the criticism and continue to work. “It’s like Dirk,” Kidd said. “Dirk took his licks for losing in ’06. It’s just that now LeBron is in the same shoes as Dirk.”

LeBron James wrote a message on his website yesterday, graciously congratulating Jason Kidd and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks on winning the title.

  • FuxedYoBizitch

Very classy and very cool. Lebron’s gonna win at least a couple championships in his career, it’s just gonna take some time and a little personal growth

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Bron Bron trying to be humble is like plastic trying to be organic.

  • http://www.scribesunlimited.com/ WritersWithCats

Until LeBron apologizes to the fans that hate him, and apologizes to the fans he let down for giving up in the playoffs year after year, he’s not getting anything.

  • rich

im still in shock that they made it to the finals having dampier joel anthony juan howard and james jones in rotation. this team really has some potential to be good in the future. i have no problem with lebron personally, but on the court he needs to work on his game and get a post or mid range game, that gets his 3s going and when u have to get close to lebron…. u get dunked on

  • J.G.

    ^^^ WEAK!!!!

    He’ll probably get two-three titles.

  • Vince5

He will, or at least he’ll win one.

Its true, all greats have to take their lumps before they get that elusive chip. How long were alot of folks (some on this site) calling Dirk soft, choker etc.. now people are praising him as one of the greats. Bron took the Heat to within 1 game of winning it all his first year w/ the Heat with no true center or point guard. But Bron must spend the summer in the post and watch some old Karl Malone footage.

a foregone conclusion, but yes, cosign Jason-don’t-call-him-Ason

  • http://slamonline Brion

    within 2 games (sorry)^

LeBron really had a great mid range game, lots of 3′s, and several incredible finishes throughout the Chicago and Boston series. Don’t ever forget that! The match-ups were just different in the Dallas series. LeBron us still the best player in the NBA. He played hard against Dallas, but like I said, different matchups, so his numbers weren’t as big. He’s already a two time MVP, he will get a few championships yet.

Alot of players, ex-players and analysts are saying he’ll end up with a couple of championships, I was pretty sure he was going to win this one, who’s to say he’s going to win anything? Injuries, bad play, bad luck or other teams stand in the way of a championship. Dallas, LA, OKC, Chicago, Bos maybe even NYK are all going to be there next year.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

I’m sick of people giving this dude championships before he’s earned them…Just let him go win them, stop telling the world that he for sure will.

  • MLK4Life

I think we all should just be okay with LeBron being a number two guy. He’s not MJ. Or Kobe. He doesn’t have to be. He seems to good with that. Otherwise he wouldn’t have signed with the Heat. He knew Wade wasn’t going to take a backseat to anyone. D-Wade is no one’s Scottie Pippen. He needs better footwork. A post game. A consistent midrange game. He has no go to move. He needs a few.

  • AQWORD

Yeah , they might but probably won’t b. Im callin it now Miami will win a title next season !

  • AQWORD

Wayno i think there might be a reason behind it. His game is ill. & if you dont see it. Back up of his tip for the simple fact …

  • Max

    Check it out.

  • ab40

    should’ve signed with the clippers

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

I never said he wasn’t a great player, I still think he’s the best in the league despite the fact that he did play that well in the finals. On top of that, I didn’t say that I don’t think he’ll ever win anything, I think there’s a pretty good chance of it. What I don’t like is when people give him 2 or 3 titles in his career before he’s gotten any…there have been alot of great players who have never won a ring.

  • JL

good point MLK4Life. I think all the lacking in travel calls has actually messed up his potential for a post game. Lebron simply doesn’t have good footwork. His footwork is either borderline traveling, or is. Moving both feet at the same time won’t cut it in the post. It’s too obvious. I even remember seeing in the finals where he caught the ball, shuffled his feet to side step a little, and then dribbling cuz he even realized it was awkward, and taking another two steps. Stop letting him do whatever he wants and push Lebron to be better. Please don’t let him waste his talent like Shaq did.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    Wayno FTW!

  • leDouche

LeBron is a douche bag and if you actually like this guy, you are a douche as well.

  • Exile

    Max… Pretty good!

  • Stillballin

Lebron is still young..he’ll learn how to win games.. Sooner or later..

  • Tyrant56

If LeBron worked with hakeem, duncan, ewing hell even melo on post and mid range game dude be straight.

  • Darius

LOL ^ Who is JL? I know what you mean though.. Jason Kidd is pretty classy

  • HAMMER

Not ALL the greats won a championship. And its no guarantee that LBJ will win one either. We expect 4 him to @ least win one given the talent he posesses and the talent that surrounds him. But a title is not guaranteed to any1, including Lebron.

    You know, my fellow brethren, something that I’ve been at odds with for most of this past Season is this;
We all seem to be witnessing something very compelling in regards to The King. We are seeing what some people may call odd behavior. The King procuring to the masses what we may call odd rhetoric from him. One of his status. Controversial commentary being put forth to the basketball world through his words.
Is he changing before our very eyes? The legendary Tim Duncan told The King years ago to not change.
The wise vet repeated it to The King over, and over again…
Before he went to Miami, one very, very rarely, if ever, heard The King even utter one word toward a fellow player that would even be construed as derogatory in manner OR tone. Now, he is seen on camera before the eyes of the entire family of basketball publicly mocking his peer. Wade has already had a history of such behavior.
As he appeared to be following in the lead of D. Wade’s watch.
    Which brings me to my worry;
Has The King gone out of his way to “rub Wade’s back”?

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

In interviews, when The King is making his oratory, one can see whether Wade agrees with a statement or not. When Wade approves, he nods in agreement. When he disapproves, he gives a blank stare. He even rolls his eyes in disapproval at times, right in front of the camera.
    D. Wade is in The King’s head.
    Bosh…
    Shout out to Chris Bosh.
The jury is out on Wade as well, in my opinion.
Thanks to SLAM for letting me ramble.

  • AQWORD

Talk is Cheap. It’s all about ball.

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

^There was that Boston game where during a timeout, right before The King was set to take some clutch free throws, Wade humiliated The King in front of the bench as a result of The King doing something on the court that Wade didn’t like.
Then, The King went to the foul line, and choked.

  • barnabusb

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a wife to punch in the face,” Kidd did not necessarily add.

  • rikson

    ^^ Exactly! Classy guy… gtfoh!

Alright Enough Already We All Knew That The Bulls Still Need More Talent And The Celtics Wer Beat Up And The Lakers Didnt Seem Like They Wanted It So It’s Only Fitting To See Who Won It And Why
