Derrick Rose Sure He Will Win ‘Multiple Championships’

In a sentiment shared by absolutely no one else, Derrick Rose thinks the Chicago Bulls’ roster is perfect as is. He’s also convinced that multiple titles are in his future (a not so unfamiliar theme with DRose). From Hoopshype: “Everybody is working out hard right now. If everyone comes in and work on their game, I think that we have a good shot of winning without getting anybody to come to my team. I think everything was just so new… Last year was my first time getting past the first round of the playoffs. Everything was just new to everybody, and that thing is gonna help us. Last year was the base for our team and the sky’s the limit for us.’ … Time has passed since you won the MVP trophy award. What are your feelings about it now? DR: ‘It was great but I’m not satisfied. I won’t be satisfied until I win a championship. I’m not satisfied at all. There’s not a doubt in my mind that I’m not going to win a championship. I’m going win multiple championships. It’s not a doubt in my mind.’”

    …here comes the sh*tstorm
well i mean, ppl laughed when he said he could be MVP right?
i think the bulls are a 2 guard and a couple years away from a chip.

Derrick, you are good, you are very good, but not THAT good.

I can’t wait to hear Enigmatic and BC defend yet another arrogant statement from the resident “humble” guy.

  • http://tempdog1 stephen

    So humble yet so hungry

  • jay rose

I’m with drose on this..bulls made it far without a two guard. If korver and boozer bring their game day in and out the chip is there’s.

Unfrozen caveman lawyer, you do realize that no one takes a person who writes in caps lock seriously? Also, if you’re an unfrozen caveman lawyer, isn’t it redundant to call yourself unfrozen? I believe a lot of the human race could claim the same.

Pooh, don’t you know that you’re supposed to say that your team sucks, you’re not that good, you didn’t deserve the MVP and you’ll never win ONE championship, let alone multiple ‘ships? Anything other than that, well, people get upset and get on their anti-Chicago ish. These same people also feel that you’re not a player who is allowed to exude confidence of any kind, especially not verbally. This seems to rub them the wrong way. They were PISSED when you asked why couldn’t you win MVP, then went out and did it.
They were pissed that you led the Bulls to the best record in the East and they were hoping that the Pacers would knock the squad off and were mocking you and the team because every game wasn’t a blowout and you weren’t playing like an MVP, allegedly. Boy were they upset that the Bulls had the nerve to not lose in the first round. Then they thought the squad would have no chance against the Hawks, but you led the way to knocking them off too. That didn’t go over so well, either.
Then you ran into the Miami Heat and people absolutely rejoiced when the squad lost in 5. They called that 6-8 cat who was guarding you a “great” defender even though it was obvious that by that point, you didn’t have anything left and the weight of carrying Chicago on your back all season had finally caught up to you. Not to mention the fact that they wanted the Heat to win it all, but you know how that turned out. You still have just as many rings as that dude from Akron does.
So don’t pay these cats no mind. They live in the Internet. You just keep living in the real world and keep putting that work in because you know how much hard work pays in the end.

  • shuref00t

    D. Rose needs to realize that you can’t make statements about winning multiple championships without rising from underneath a stage, massive amounts if pyrotechnics, and loud music blaring in the background. He needs to hire a new publicist.

  • http://www.slamonline.com UNFROZEN CAVEMAN LAWYER

even though it was obvious that by that point, you didn’t have anything left and the weight of carrying Chicago on your back all season had finally caught up to you………………..LOL, CRAWFORD IS SILLY

  • Riggs

all he needs is a good 2 guard and a good carlos boozer…..crap.

  • ChristyO8

He’s right… We were one momentum shifting basket from being competitive in the ECF. If Korver had of shot his average and Booz had a showed up, we might not have won, but we would have been competitive… If we HAD made it to the Finals, the Bulls could have competed with Dallas. Might not have won, but we wouldn’t have been dominated by them, esp with home court.

Having said all that… OF COURSE we need a 2guard, duh. DRose might be setting himself up for disappointment if he thinks we can win it all w/o an upgrade at the 2. At the end of the day, circus shots and MVP play alone won’t get it. SOMEONE HAS TO PUT THE BALL IN THE BASKET DURING LULLS… That’s what killed us in the Miami series. That, and some, OMG I don’t believe those shots went in from Wade and LeBron… That caught up to them in the next series though… #lawofaverages lol!

  • A.

One guy says he going to win not 1, not 2, not 3…championships and it’s the worst thing ever. Another says he WILL, without a doubt, win multiple championships and…. he’s humble and hungry. Am I missing something here?

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Come on son, stop it. The same cat that hated on Bron when he said MIA’s going to win not one, not two, not three…..is now praising Rose for saying that same thing. Purest form of double standard at work here.

  • MLK4Life

Bryan Crawford is dead on. The Bulls are a two guard away from being title contenders. The Heat will not be the dynasty that some people think they will be. Mainly because LeBron and Wade play exactly the same way. All the Bulls need is another guy who can create so that teams like the Heat can’t just double D-Rose all the time. Boozer needs to step it up as well. The only people who will have a problem with D-Rose feeling this way is bandwagon Heat fans. Even though he was tired from carrying the team all season offensively, he still showed flashes of craziness, namely the monster dunk on Joel Anthony. I’d venture to say that if Ben Gordon was still in Chicago, they would’ve gotten past Miami.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He and LeBron aren’t that different. Only their fans want them to be. I’ll bet they have mad respect for each other.

  • MLK4Life

LeBron was talking about himself and his two new teammates. The rest of the team hadn’t even been formed yet. So he was basically saying that he, D-Wade and Bosh were going to win 7 championships regardless of who else they added. Derrick was saying that his team, as constituted, would be good enough to win. Even while everyone else is saying they need another guy. There’s the difference. He believes in his TEAM. Let’s be honest, if you’re a die hard LeBron fan or a fan of any other polarizing player, you will step up to defend him at every turn. It’s obvious just by reading some of the comments. LeBron has a history of arrogance. Derrick doesn’t. So people digest comments that they make in different ways. Some people are just incapable of having an objective opinion.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

    YAWN!!!
I’ve got respect for DRose, always felt that dude was a mini-bron. It’s just that people try to paint him as this angelic, Mother Theresa-like figure when the guy is like every other great athlete, competitive and uber-confident in his abilities.

  • EJ

It’s the image. Rose is a quiet dude and Lebron’s a goof. Everybody’s always gonna think the loud guy is a douche, and the quiet one’s humble. Even if they make the same statements.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I think arrogance is in the eye of the beholder to some degree.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

No Derrick Rose said “I’m going to win multiple championships” – Finally, all the DRose Lovers and LeBron Lovers can stop arguing about how arrogant their favorite players are. They both said they’d win multiple titles, move on.

  • SILKWORM

Without reading a single comment, you had to know this section would be littered with Stans and homers being hypocrites.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

I must’ve missed the part that said these comments were made at the United Center… On a stage in front of thousands of thousands of people, with John Paxson looking on and pyrotechnic folks who get paid by the hour.

So this is different because Rose said he would win titles to a reporter? Instead of too an arena full of people? Because it means something different? Ohhhh that’s right because LeBron is the Heat’s Public Relations guy, and the concert thing was all his master plan to make the world think he’s the most conceited player of all time. How could we forget. He also asked his interviewer to ask him the question about championships because he had concocted that arrogant ass answer before hand….right. how bout they are both uber arrogant, its part of what makes them so good at what they do. (And if you don’t think Derrick Rose wouldn’t have said the same thing in the United Center with every fan who has ever been inside that arena in front of him your lying to yourself.)

  • MLK4Life

Derrick doesn’t even seem to like talking all that much. He struggled to get through his speech at the MVP awards ceremony before he even began to discuss his mother. He didn’t look like he wanted to say much when Stern gave him the award before Game 2 against the Hawks. So no, it’s not a lie to oneself if they believe that DRose wouldn’t participate in a concert in the United Center and pop the collar of his jersey before announcing that his team will be winning 7 championships. It’s the truth based on what we’ve seen from him.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

I’m not talking about Rose saying what James said. I’m talking about Rose saying what Rose said, in front of (1) Reporter, or 20,000 Fans, it shouldn’t make a difference.

  • mannyec0409

yep D ROSE!!!!!!! Im a bulls fan and have been a Bulls fan since I was 6 years old and I finally feel like this team is capable of doing something great. I share his sentiments that the Bulls can win a championship but they definitely need a 2 guard to create more of an offensive threat so he is not doubled and even tripled team like he was in the eastern conference finals.

Also, can we stop with the comparisons between LBJ and D Rose?! they are both great players and arguably the best players at their position. You dont have to like them personally, just like their amazing style of play.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Derrick Rose, arrogant? That’s a first. I’ve never heard him called that before. But of course if you think confidence and blatant arrogance are the same then you clearly have an inability to differentiate which would lead you to make that statement.

  • Chef ISU

If you don’t want to win multiple championships and be the greatest ever, why even bother to play? LeBron is a douche not because of the championship thing but because of everything else. Rose is humble. just because you believe in yourself and in your team doesn’t make you arrogant. I’d be mad if he said he didn’t think he could do it.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

    Definition of ARROGANCE

: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions

—- To say “I’m going to win multiple championships, it’s not a doubt in my mind” – Seems a bit presumptuous, just a bit. Confidence and Arrogance, in professional sports often goes hand in hand. And I know you know that. – Confidence is knowing your can win multiple titles, Arrogance is stating it, especially if you haven’t even won (1).

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

haters, cant compare this to lebron. smh

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I ain’t even read all the comments but to JTaylor’s initial comment I’ll say – weren’t you the one you once said you admired Rose cause you’re as humble as he is?
    Ha.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Definition of ARROGANCE : an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions — So like a rally in an NBA arena with thousands of fans, a hydraulic lift, fireworks and smoke machines while you have no team assembled yet you proclaim that because of yourself and two other guys you’re going to win, “Not one… Not two… Not three…” championships?

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

    They are both arrogant.

  • LA Huey

@BC, I’m associating Stans to fans with loyalties to individual players (ie. LBJ fans) and homers to fans with loyalties to their respective teams. You’re a Bulls homer. Cats like JTaylor is a LeBron stan. He does the same with LeBron as you do the Bulls. I respect both your undying and ridiculous loyalties. I enjoy the fireworks that accompany articles like this one. Carry on. =)

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Each of them are arrogant* I’m sorry the wording of my last comment was really bothering me.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Well, following in his footsteps, I’ve decided to show my a**.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Whatever you say, nbk. Rationalize and justify it in your mind in whichever manner suits you. I’m not here to tell you that you’re wrong, just slightly misguided.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

The difference between Bron and Rose is that Bron said they were gonna win multiple championships…without ever playing a single game together and without even knowing who else would be on the squad.
Rose said this after a season where they won more games than any other team, despite multiple injuries to two or their best players and a rookie coach.
For those who don’t know, Rose is ferociously loyal to his teammates, that’s why he didn’t go out and recruit Wade or James, and that’s why he’s now saying he’s good with the squad he’s got now.
Because despite the fact that we all know they need a two-guard, in Rose’s eyes Bogans and Brewer have been there with him and he’s not about to throw them under the bus.
Now, when I read what he said yesterday I bristled a little, because I don’t like it when any athlete predicts championships.
Unless your name is Michael Jordan or Bill Russell, you should just dead that.
But I’ve come to expect this from Rose.
Confidence. Arrogance. Call it what you want, it’s all good.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Looks like someone doesn’t know what presumptuous or assumptions mean.
    Pay attention in school, kids.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

By definition of the word, they are arrogant. Your trying to argue that Derrick Rose is not arrogant, because LeBron James is MORE, Blatantly arrogant? Just because DRose doesn’t throw himself parades and 1-Hour Specials doesn’t mean he doesn’t think he’s the greatest person to lace them up since MJ (I’m not saying that’s really what he thinks, but he clearly sees himself as superior to the rest of the league, and its not necessarily a bad thing, just plainly obvious).

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Rose did not say “we the currently constructed Chicago Bulls will win Multiple Championships” He said “I’m” — “(I) won’t be satisfied until (I) win a championship. I’m not satisfied at all. There’s not a doubt in (MY) mind that (I’m) not going to win a championship. (I’m) going win multiple championships. It’s not a doubt in my mind.’”

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

If my favorite/hometown/best player HAD to speak about his abilities on the basketball court, I would want him to come off as arrogant. Anything less, and I’m looking for a different star player.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Look up overbearing and then get back to me…

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Look up relevant, and then say something that fits the definition.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Yeah, Soop, but the question preceding that comment was “Time has passed since you won the MVP trophy award. What are your feelings about it now?”
They were asking him about his feelings on an individual award, and he said he wasn’t satisfied with that award and he’s gonna win multiple championships. They didn’t ask him “what are your feelings on your team” or “how far will your team go?”

  • ThaWindy

Bulls inexperience definitely proved to be the back breaker in games 4 and 5. Time and time again they were at least two or three plays away from getting the win and maybe getting the upset. I just hope this lockout soon.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

First, nbk, I wasn’t referring to you. Second, because I blew holes in your theory which then caused you to make multiple rationalizing statements in support of your initial comment, isn’t a cause to get upset or toss around the irrelevant claim.
You know better than that. Or at least you should.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

I understand why he said what he said, and honestly, I think it was the right thing to say. Doesn’t mean the kid isn’t arrogant. Honestly there is nothing to even defend here, he’s arrogant. LeBron is more arrogant. They both probably should be, I don’t know of a star player other then Tim Duncan that has ever won a title and didn’t actively act like they were the best thing since sliced bread. — Sh*t y’all are from Chicago, where Michael Jordan played, y’all should welcome arrogance like a long lost puppy.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Nobody likes a smarta$$. Take your lumps like everyone else and KIM.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

You blew holes in my theory….haha what theory? By definition of the words, Derrick Rose is arrogant. LeBron is arrogant and overbearing (whether that’s what you were referring to with the overbearing comment is irrelevant, because LeBron is overbearing with his arrogance, or he was last summer atleast) I’m not wrong, and I don’t really have a theory other then the you Chicago natives should welcome arrogance, because IMO with what y’all have been privy too, you should.

  • Zabba

Crawford for the win. nbk, shut the eff word up.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

The overbearing part was in reference to the Miami production, not LBJ. I thought that was pretty obvious. And you’re basically trying to say that a 1-on-1 conversation with a reporter is the EXACT SAME THING as what went on down in Miami. The difference there should also be obvious. But if you want the two to be the same, OK, I guess.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

LOL so the difference is, Lebron made the statement without knowledge of his team. Rose made the statement with the knowlege of his team. So, if this is the argument BC is bringing… then Lebron is arrogent and Rose is stupid. Really stupid. Especially if you claim Rose had to carry his team and had no energy against the Heat.
    Gotcha.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Hey, the angry Buddhist showed up!! Must be a more boring than usual day in Rochester, today.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

LeBron dominated Rose, I don’t want to hear about how he was tired. Maybe if he picked his spots better, he would have had more left in the tank.

  • Rainman

@ 1st comment, u said it. a SHOOTING GUARD and a coupel years. D Rose said his team can win it AS IS, no upgrades at ANY position, THATS what comes off as ludicrous.

Cuz if they get an upgrade at SG? its very plausible they get multiple Rings, but as they are now? nope. U dreamin D Rose.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

It’s funny how the LeBron had no help argument was a damn near universally accepted excuse, but DRose having nothing left in the tank against Miami will not be allowed. OK…
I said this right after the ECF and DRose acknowledged it not too long ago. But LBJ is the only player in the NBA who is allowed to have excuses be made into legitimate reasons.

  • Rainman

u shot under 40 % in the playoffs btw, be more a PG and pass it around dude, dont shoot 30 times a game, push ur GM to get that shooting guard who can take soem of that pressure off u, dont make him feel like he can relax.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

LOL Crawford, yer gonna have to explain the Buddhist reference, I must have missed that one.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Bryan a stadium full of people that will be relayed to the world, a reporter who will directly quote it too the word. Same thing to me except one is more blatant (by design, and not James’) – except one statement was overwhelmingly arrogant (overbearing – for the sake of it), and the other was just arrogant. LeBron’s actions don’t lessen Rose’s arrogance though.

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

Or, AllBall, maybe if he didn’t have to carry his team every single night just to get as far as he did with those guys, maybe he would’ve had more in the tank? Or, if he only took 12 shots/game like Chris Paul, he would’ve REALLY been rested up then.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Yeah, I like that part. Rose was so tired and his ankle was broken in 5 places that he couldn’t hit a jumpshot to save his life nor could he drive past a player that has 50-60 pounds on him.
Oh, poor DRose! I feel so bad for him having to do something that no other player in history has done.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

But was it really Rose having nothing left in the tank, or was it just Bron can use his length, play off him, and lock him up? Bron ate Rose alive.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Cosign Crawford at 2:33 – wth people

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

lol, CP likes to stay rested.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

Derrick Rose was DEFINITELY sapped, he was sapped throughout the playoffs. Rose had to carry his team every game because of the injuries, and he’s too young to know how to pace himself. Lebron certainly helped shut down Rose, but that was only 50%, the other 50% was being tired as F*CK. No one in the league can lock down a fully energized Rose. When he is older, he will know how to pace and we will see him have MANY great playoff games.
He’s still coming off as an arrogant dbag here though.
It’s basic math: “Rose thinks his team can win a championship + Rose carried his team = Rose is arrogant about his own abilities.”
And really, outside from the haters and Lebron overreacters (COUGH JTAYLOR) there’s no reason to be pissed about this.

  • Heals

Crawford who is this majorative “they” you refer to? Your Pooh was a runaway media darling last season (even pushing KD out of the picture abit). Bulls fans took over Staples (v Clippers), the Highlite Factory in Atl, the Garden and most other Chi-town transplant cities. So I don’t get your whole us vs them POV. For the folks coming up wth all the “ifs” for the Bulls postseason; guess what most teams that lose would have won “if this” or “if that” had happened differently. You lost cause they didn’t happen, move on…

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

When your legs are tired, the FIRST thing that goes is your jumper. Anybody who plays who basketball knows this. I’ll just leave it at that.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Enough with the “he was sapped and on his last breath” exucse. Every player at that point in the playoffs is fatigued and running on fumes, so let’s stop acting like Rose was the only fatigued player. Maybe if he took less than 30 shots a game, he wouldn’t be so tired.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Sigh…it’d be nice if my other comments would show up…

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Yeah, he should’ve paced himself like Bron did, who went all out against the Celtics and Bulls, celebrated like they won the title after each series clincher, then had nothing left against the Mavs?

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Oh, and I really don’t care if Rose comes off as arrogant personally. But that’s just me. I root for dude cause he plays for the Chicago Bulls, not because I want him to be liked by everyone else.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    All of you are funny.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

JTaylor: No, that’s not true. There is a rich history of younger players doing too much and not having anything left in the playoffs. It’s also for the coach to decide that Rose should stop taking shots— Rose was encouraged to take those shots cause he was the offense.
It’s a valid reason for why Rose played poorly in the playoffs— he was tired because he’s the reason the Bulls had that #1 seed. The team simply wasn’t great enough to pick up without him. Perhaps it can’t be used as an excuse to some, or many, but it’s a valid reason for why Rose wasn’t playing like an MVP in the playoffs.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

and Enigmatic’s 2:53 comment for the reasonable win!

  • http://SLAMonline.com Bryan Crawford

    I approve of ‘Matic’s 2:53 message.

  • http://slamonline.com AllBall

Bron did celebrate pretty hard. That wasn’t energy efficient.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

BC: “I defended Rose for five hours against people calling him arrogant, but hey, I don’t care, I love him anyway!”
    Oh Bryan, you card!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

And that’s a good reason Enigmatic.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

But dude did sound a lot like Lebron here…
    LOL

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

    Enigmatic, fair enough.
Jukai, I’m not arguing that the bulls had enough pieces to beat MIA (even though everyone predicted that they would), what I’m arguing is that the “he was tired” excuse makes no sense. Lots of great players in the past had to carry their team while being the only option but I don’t remember any all-time great shooting or playing as badly as Rose did in the ECF. The guy shot 39% for the entire playoffs and 35% in the ECF. No matter how tired or banged up a guy is, no great especially the reigning MVP should play that badly when the team needs him to be at his best.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

But he did play that bad, and it seemed to be because he was exhausted. Will it matter ever again? No. And guess what, he’s almost 23!!! – I think he’s got time to work on his conditioning, or pacing himself. — Our expectations of these guys are ridiculous, what Rose accomplished this season was nothing less then an over achievement.

  • Matt Park

I agree that he doesn’t absolutely need another player. The reason for their average offense this year was because Tom Thibodeau did not have a lot of time to organize his offense with the team. Derrick Rose was forced to take a lot of shots with 10 seconds left on the clock because the team could get into its offense quickly enough… However, getting a better shooting guard would definitely be a plus.

    I like Enigmatic’s 3:53 comment.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I’ll try my damndest to not be.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

He actually shot under 40% for the entire playoffs. So unless he was “gassed” from the opening tip vs Indiana, what’s the excuse?

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

what’s wrong E – you’ve become to mature for the comment section? Or you realize all this doesn’t really accomplish anything more then wasting time?

    But I haven’t commented at 3:53 yet…:D

Hey Eboy, how is the view from your high horse? Beautiful?

Pretty much, Jukai. The same inane stupidity probably has gotten to me after 3/4′s of a decade.

    You all are haters

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    I meant around here.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

so rose makes a lebron like statement but ya’ll still love him and and beg him to have your children? and still hate lebron passionately for no reason? cool.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

every superstar is arrogant…it’s deserved and it probably helps them cope… EVERYBODY even tim duncan… he probably was just better at not showing it… personally tho i do think rose was tired which is why he should be begging his gm for a better shooting guard.. and not saying he can win as is. also nbk is right him and lebron are alike… they probably do have a lot of respect fore each other.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

Rose gonna kill lebron next season. hopefully there is a season.

  • T-Money

LOL. It’s pretty funny to see fans rationalize the differences between the two statements. They’re pretty much the same to me and I’m not bothered by either one. If one of them bothered you but you’re okay with the other one… your bias is showing. / I promised myself to not partake in these kind of arguments because, for the most part, these guys have mad respect for each other even though their fans are nuts (e.g. Bron and Kobe). / One correction though: Enigmatic, it’s not entirely accurate to say that Rose didn’t recruit out of loyalty for his current teammate. He didn’t recruit Bron and Wade.. but he kept blowing up Bosh’s phone. One could interpret that as him being ok to add a big but reluctant to add a ball-dominant wing that would take said ball off his hands. But that’s just an opinion. / Carry on… this is fun.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I’ve never heard or read anywhere that Rose was recruiting Bosh.
If anything, Joe Johnson was the one player Rose wanted the Bulls to sign more than any other FA, and you can’t tell me he’s not a ball-dominant wing.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

cosign t-money… similar statements…. let’s cut the hypocrisy out.. and matic can’t joe johnson play really well off the ball tho? can’t say the same about born and wade necessarily.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

and btw …follow me on twitter.. @legroelnegro

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Rose was after Johnson as far as I heard. Never heard of Bosh talking to Rose. Although I did hear one report that said both Bosh and Wade were Chicago bound with Luol Deng leaving in a sign and trade with the clippers but that obviously was false. (And DatKid – Yes Johnson is very effective off-the-ball, check his last year in Phx when he led the league in 3pt % — but he obviously was against that role, especially if it meant putting it over money)

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Both are arrogant in their statements…… BUT, Rose is a 3 out of 10 on the Arrogance Scale, and LeBron is a 9. We all see that right?

  • MUBWAR

I taught this dude was as humble as durantula. I was right when I taught he was a mini lbj. have u seen the strength. If the dude was 2 inch taller, he’ll be a perfect 2 guard.

  • http://gmail.com z

Im just going to skip over all the posted comments so far (because i KNOW that with this subject matter the threads are going to be littered with stans and homers being hypocrites) and say that this isn’t a particularly outrageous statement. Rose has hella game. It just gets to me when youngsters (think 15 and under) try to tell me that drose coulda taken the answer…WHAT?! no disrespect, chicago, but allen iverson could outscore drose any day of the week (in Ivey’s prime). Now i have the misfortune of knowing how jordan fans feel when us kobe lovers try to say kob’s better…

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

Lakeshow i actually don’t think lebron is THAT THAT arrogant… i thought it was fair to say the heat had a chance to when multiple championships… bc they do. i mean it’s I mean you have two game changing wing players and an excellent power forward. but yes i guess lebron is probably more arrogant than rose

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

@z – not sure where you heard that from, but despite me being a Rose fan and never really being a fan of AI, I mean, I think prime AI would torch ANY of these new school cats. Dude was wired to score.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

Allen Iverson and Derrick Rose would light each other up. Neither of them could guard the other, no chance in hell.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

AI would strip him 1 more time a game tho^ lol

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

If you are first team in the NBA, you should be arrogant, you have earned that.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

Bye. I’m back to trading one-liners with eBoy and Matic on Twitter.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

According to Sports Illustrated, the offer from the Owners to the players in the labor talks would reduce salaries by more then any of us previously thought. the example they use is Lamar Odom, he made $8.9M last season, if the players agreed to the new deal he would make roughly $2.6M next. That’s $5.2M of Lamar Odom’s contract going to the owner, and only that $2.6M of his already agreed upon contract (on a profitable team nonetheless) going into his pocket. — sorry for the off-topic comment but jumpin jehosaphat that’s a raw deal.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

z inversion would destroy rose in his prime.. literally i think he was better at everything, even passing when he felt like it. and for the record slick rick… rose can’t take lebron

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

To be fair, we haven’t seen Rose in his prime yet.

  • http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Don-t-tell-Kobe-Bryant-what-he-can-t-do?urn=nba-233572 nbk

    ^^ Valid

  • kobe tai 24 xxx

A Championsip? Yes. Multiple? Not so sure. D Rose good, but to walk the walk he must become much better. And if u just say ure gonna win multiple champions, u wont win it the next year. If u tat the larry o brien, then u will win it. Dont talk, Just Tat.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I mean, saying prime AI would whip a 22-year old Rose is like saying prime Michael Jordan would whip a 22 year old Kobe Bryant.
    Well, no sh*t.
But what about if both are in their primes? I’d still say MJ over Kobe, but it wouldn’t be nearly as easy.

  • MLK4Life

All of this and he’s only 22. I can’t imagine how many comments a D-Rose post will get when he’s actually close to his prime…which will be scary. At that point, he may be so good that whether he has a good two guard or not, there will be no hope at all for opposing teams trying to guard him. The Bulls-Thunder will be a great Finals matchup to watch in the future.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

I don’t know Roses’ limit as a ball-player. Cause, honestly, the way Rose is playing now, I thought THAT would be his height. And he’s 22 and he’s ridiculous. So, yeah, my heart says its foolish to say AI wouldn’t kill Rose but my head says, hold up a bit, let’s see how good Rose can get.

  • http://360special.blogspot.com/ dev0

the first comment^ was to be my comment. People laughed when he said he could be MVP. He wasn’t supposed to be this good, this soon. Don’t doubt him, the Bulls had the best record last year for a reason

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

enigmatic and mlk4life… you guys make good points… it’ll be interesting to see how d.rose develops

Don’t sleep on him. He carries weight on what he said. Youngest MVP in the history right there. You haters may call him whatever, but hate on this: that will never faze him
