Glen Davis Wants to Re-Sign With Boston

Glen Davis‘ future with the Boston Celtics is currently in the air. Davis will be an unrestricted free agent when (if) the lockout concludes, and will weigh his options for sure. Yesterday, Big Baby cleared some smoke, stating his goal is to remain a Celtic. Via the Boston Globe: “Davis left soon thereafter, but his appearance could have been a sign that the strong sentiments about leaving Boston that he expressed in May have softened. ‘Most definitely, that’s my No. 1 priority – see if I can come back here and play,’ he said. ‘And if I can’t, go somewhere else.’ His words were tamer than they were in May, when it appeared Davis had grown tired of coach Doc Rivers’s treatment. ‘I think in a lot of situations you have to air things out,’’ said Davis, who because of the NBA lockout cannot have contact with the Celtics front office. ‘Especially with a player that’s growing. You’ve got to talk and clear things up, and I think that time will come whenever the opportunity comes. I’m just trying to focus on working out.’ As an unrestricted free agent, Davis would have no restrictions if he decided to play overseas during the lockout. FIBA, the governing body of international basketball, has ruled that players who sign with overseas clubs while under NBA contracts must return to their teams once the lockout ends. That doesn’t apply to Davis, who said he is intrigued by the possibility of playing in Europe or Asia. ‘I would definitely be interested, to get the experience and also to keep that edge,’ he said. ‘I just really think a lot of guys over there love to play the game. It’s not about the money. It’s about playing the game that we love.’

Davis is overrated and undersized. He is a hard worker and tough defender, but people value him too high. He’s best bet is to stay in Boston where they love and appreciate them.

    He found Glen Davis?

Glen Davis is not surprised by Glen Davis’ softer stance as far as Glen Davis’ Celtics future.

    Large Infant.

It’s a shame we don’t want him back.

  • Jay Cutler

I’m surprised Slam’s keyboard warriors haven’t made a fat joke yet.

  • robb

What he really really wants is a couple of KFC’s Double Down sandwiches.

A pretty good 3rd/4th big. But I think he’ll be overpaid.

Good points Jaamal, but that love is nearly gone and the appreciation is waning. Dude just runs his mouth all the time, yet rarely offers up anything substantial. 2 months ago he wanted more recognition and a starting role, now Beantown is his first choice…

I think they’ll let him walk. I hope I’m wrong.
His choke job in the Playoffs was epic.

    Glen Davis.

So he’d rather play for Boston than for a contender.

  • T-Money

EXCELLENT 4th big. adequate 3rd big. would be mediocre starter.

We are a contender thank you very much….Davis is more than serviceable regardless of his performance last year in the playoffs..I just hope we don’t over pay him.
