Report: Michael Redd to End Up With ‘Title Contender’

There’s been recent chatter that Miami is interested in Michael Redd’s services, and according to the Journal-Times, Redd will likely play for a good team somewhere in the Eastern Conference once the NBA resumes operations: “I’ve heard Milwaukee Bucks management approached Michael Redd before the lockout about returning for another season, although my impeccable sources insist he’s going to wind up with one of the Eastern Conference’s title contenders.”

aka The Heat or Bulls. (I’m thinking Bulls, they need him more)

  • Overtime

would be nice on the bulls. I wouldnt act mind seeing him on the Lakers

  • angus

uh pretty sure lakers have there starting 2 ^ , magic or bulls really only title contenders in the east who need a 2 unless you want to throw knicks in

  • rikson

Hell be BU… Doesnt matter where he lands (except Bulls maybe)!

He would really help the bulls if he can regain even some of his old self. He could be a shooter and create for himself when needed

Bulls or Celtics. Miami doesn’t make sense, he would be log jammed on the bench behind Mike Miller. In boston he can step into that reserve for Ray Allen role and be one of the first 2 or 3 guys off the bench. In Chicago he could probably start

It really depends on how his shooting is, is it still deadly? The dude hasn’t had a good start in the last two and a half season due to injury. Bulls definitely a good fit.

The question with him going to Chicago is whether or not he can move laterally, if he can’t defend then he won’t work there. ALso – I wouldn’t rule out Orlando, Jason Richardson is a UFA and didn’t give them what they expected last season. Michael Redd fits their system, even if he can’t play defense

Of course Redd would help the heat. They don’t play the normal rotation. They are talking about getting a legit PG or having Lebron run point, and having another SF or SG on the floor… Even if that didn’t happen he’s automatic and Redd wouldn’t be asked to do the same things that got him hurt with the Bucks.

at this stage in his career i don’t know if he’s better than kyle korver. he should probably go on a team that needs a shooter. but looking at how miami utilized james jones, or how little they did, he’s really not much of a help for them if added. seems like teams like the lakers could use him. Their outside shooting stinks. he should be a pretty good outside spotup shooter, kinda like the peja role on the mavs. no D, lots of shooting without hesitation.

  • T-Money

not sure what he brings to chicago at this stage of his career that is not already provided by korver

My bulls dont want this garbage scrub player.. why is it that all the crappy players think they have a chance to play for contenders?

  • http://bulls.com airs

ehhh, i mean i wouldn’t mind him on the bulls.
    but tmoney already said it.
    how about gilbert? thanks.

Redd would be a good back up player to come of the bench for the Bulls. I don’t see him helping Heat or Orlando or Celtics. He would be a good fit on 76ers to add some veteran leadership or Bobcats if he wants to stay in Easter Conference.

Yeah, I’m not feeling him on the Bulls.
Sixty one games played in the last three seasons? Waste of money unless he signs for the min.

  • http://bleacherreport.com/articles/791470-lebron-james-vs-dwyane-wade-who-is-the-better-player/page/8 nbk

Matic he has too sign for the min if he wants to play on a contender. none of them have cap space. And no way they waste the MLE (IF it exists) on Michael Redd. No team can be that desperate for a shooter who is widely recognized as one of the worst defenders in the league. But Michael Redd at the minimum, if he can still somewhat move, I think that’s a worthy deal to at least examine.

  • Chukaz

i don’t see why a contender would want him. Hell, the heat had jerry stackhouse for a month last season b4 they waved him. Jerry stackhouse could handle the ball, post up, and even at his age was more athletic than redd ever was. after a ton of surgery on his knees i doubt he can move. what you want from you wing players off the bench is long range shooting and defense. he can’t do the latter and its yet to be seen if he can still do the former

  • rikson

Redd no defense? You remember he was drafted in the second round mainly bc of his defense… It was ray that gave him the offensive spark that made him the milwaukee franchise player. Bottom line: Redd can play D!

  • Coney Islander

I can see it now…REDD ROSE IN CHI-TOWN! It only makes sense, Rose collapses the defense and Redd taking wide open shots all night.
