Miami Heat Interested in Nene

It’s pretty unlikely that they’ll be able to can afford the 6-11 free agent center, but regardless, the Heat have plans to contact Nene when they’re allowed to do so and make their best pitch. Via the Miami Herald: “Though the Heat isn’t very optimistic about its chances, expect one of the Miami’s first post-lockout calls will be to Denver free agent center Nene, who opted out of his $11.6 million contract for next season. It’s difficult to see Nene accepting a mid-level exception from Miami if there is a $6 million one in the new labor deal, but he told us previously that Miami is appealing to him. And he told The Denver Post: ‘If people think it’s about money, they’re wrong. I’ve saved my money. I could retire today.’”

You could change the title of this article to “Miami Heat interested in any center who doesn’t suck”

  • Shem

If Nene signs with the Heat they’d surely be title favorites.

“It’s pretty unlikely they’ll be able to afford” END OF THREAD

  • Matt Park

What team isn’t? Other than the obvious…

  • Stephun3

    Thay need nene bad

Nene won’t wanna play wit a soft PF in Bosh

  • add

    no sh*t

Nene posting people up and swatting shots away. Bosh’s excellent versatility in the pick n pop and pick n roll game. We all know the other 2 headed monster. If it goes through, it’s 70+ games season(if there is 1). LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN PAT

    money aint a thing….go get a title..a whole handful partna!!!!!!HEATCHEKK!

  • Yesse

    Sounds better than Curry..

  • EJ

Sounds much much worse than Curry, unless you’re a Miami fan.

  • Lp

That’s like saying the raptors want Dwight…. Won’t happen

  • Hugo

    jukai wins the comment-of-the-year award

Hopefully Nene wont go, that would just be unfair to have four effing all-star caliber players. miami getting hella greedy. Damn, just try and get a good big, not another all-star.

  • T-Money

Not likely but not exactly random either. According to credible sources, Neneis indeed exolring that option as Miami is a serous contenderand the Brazilian pop is huge down there.

  • irondan21

Well what team isn’t interested in Nene to be honest?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

If this goes through, we know wich team we’re going to play in unranked games on 2k12..

  • http://www.BGates.net Bill Gates

Money does not matter to Nene and he can EASY sign with Miami Heat. He can get money with endorsements just by signing with El Heat….

  • http://bedotwater.bandcamp.com BE.water

they’ll be able to can afford the 6-11 free agent center

I didnt know you could “to can” something..

  • ShawnKempJr

    I dunno… what’s he worth? 10-12 million? That’s before taxes.
If he accepts 5-6 million from MIA wouldnt that be tax free?
Seem’s a possibility, small, but still possible.

  • sam

What’s he gonna get in the West unless he signs with a contending team, and all of them don’t have enough cap. He’ll join the East probably and sign with a contending team there. Heat would be a good choice, considering they were two wins away from a title.

  • angus

if that happens miami will win 45 games this year! (cuz theres only gunna be about 50 by the time the season gets started)

  • Carlos

Go to the thunder! buttt they got Perkins. C’s shoulda stayed Perk imagine that if they still had Green they’d be reealll good

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Tocan Afford is the 6-11 free agent center.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    Jukai’s right

  • Jono

This guys not leaving Denver. Play pick-up with him and I know for a fact that his wife, a Colorado native, is reluctant to leave and Nene is very comfortable in Denver. As long as the Nuggets offer him the right sum, this guy will be ours until he retires.

It’d be funny if Nene went to New York; Melo and Nene have great chemistry, and his ability to run the floor would suit his transition game. I want Nene to end up in Indiana at the PF though.

  • Nene

I have decided to take my talents to Dole. It was tough leaving Chiquita, and I thank them for a great seven years.

  • Justin

If Nene goes to the heat, I feel bad for every team in the Nba.

    Pg – Norris Cole
    Sg – Wade
    Sf – LBJ
    PF – C-Bosh
    C – Nene

Who has a better starting 5? If this is possible!

  • red man

This would be a dream team in its own rights… so in Miami it would be the Dream Team not the Big 3.

  • http://dfklf.com Jukai

This just in, big news, the Heat are also interested in: Glen Davis, Nenad Kristic, Troy Murphy, Joel Pryzbilla, Kwame Brown, Kurt Thomas, Tyson Chandler, Chuck Hayes, Solomon Jones, Kris Humphries, Aaron Gray, Jared Jefferies, Samuel Dalembert, Joey Dorsey, and Kyrlo Fesenko. F*cking anyone who can do more than have one highlight block a game and cause two highlight turnovers, and make it across halfcourt with more than 10 seconds left on the shot clock.

  • MLK4Life

So Nene’s going to guard Dirk? And is LeBron still going to disappear in the fourth quarter? Nene or no Nene, if LeBron still doesn’t show up, the Heat won’t be winning anything.

  • brandon

    gr8 fit

  • DeAndre23_

well Nene said he doesnt want the money so its a strong possibility , steve nash also .. they both need rings .. steve nash deserves one more than anyone in the league now so you never know .. people said Bron , Bosh , and Wade would never happen but guess what?

  • triggerhappi

miami’s only choice for their 5 position is tyson chandler or nene

who ever they dont pick will most likely end up in dallas or boston

coz they r the only teams that would hve space and a contender for a

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

DeAndre: Nash wont have a chance to chase that ring until 2012.

  • Niio

I really don’t get people always hating that Miami is too stacked. What about the “Jail Blazers” back in the early 2000′s? That team was stacked to the max and no one cared. Or how about the Dallas Mavs of last year? That wasn’t a stacked roster either?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFYwueh05mM nbk

When your comparing a team that has the 2 best players in the league, and another guy in the top 15, then no you wouldn’t consider those other teams stacked. But I also wouldn’t consider any team with Joel Anthony in its starting lineup stacked either, so it’s an opinion thing

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

I consider the Chicago Bulls with Mike-Scottie-Dennis to be just as stacked, or the Boston Celtics with Bird-McHale-Parish (and others), or Showtime Magic-Kareem-Worthy. I don’t think the Miami Heat are that unique in their 3 future HOF line-up at all; only how they came together.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Also, instead of listing the Bulls/Celtics/Lakers individually, I could have just said “Everybody’s three favorite teams ever.”

  • Luther

When I first heard about Nene possibly signing with Miami i thought it cant happen because we couldnt afford him…BUT Nene said himself that he was going to test the free agency market and the three teams he desired going to is Heat, Mavs & Rockets. Now, the rockets is far from being championship contenders, Mavs will do everything they can to sign Chandler…so that leaves Miami…Nene also said that the idea of playing in Miami was “appealing” to him…his words, not mine. I know he’d lose out on millions if he signs with the Heat but look the guy said he could retire now if he wanted to, which means money is not an issue, he wants to win a ring. I believe he knows the magnitude of signing with Heat and he also knows how close they were to winning a championship. Its possible he could go to a different team and sign a big million dollar contract but DO NOT rule out the possibilty of him leaving millions on the table to sign with Miam Heat to chase a championship ring.

  • http://slamonline tim parnell

i think it would realy set things of with nene because hes a big man they realy needs,an then with the big three, there going back to the playoffs again.

  • theo rhatiff

Idt nene is an all-star though he has the skill and talent to be so. My question can he guard the opposing teams best post player? And will they actually run an offense?
