Report: Six Teams to Bid for Nene’s Services

The Nuggets aren’t expected to be able to re-sign free agent Nene, and according to CBS Sports, there are six NBA teams who will be pushing hard to land the big fella: “One of the surest bets of the soon-to-begin 2011 NBA free-agent period is that Nene wants out of Denver. Where he winds up, and how, will be among the most intriguing storylines when the floodgates open around Dec. 9. The Nuggets are operating under the firm belief that Nene will test the market as an unrestricted free agent, according to a person familiar with the team’s thinking. Six teams have registered interest, the source said: Golden State, New Jersey, Indiana, Miami, Dallas and Houston. Nene, the top unrestricted free agent on the market in the view of many team executives, will have a say over where he winds up — though not as much as free agents did under the previous system since free agents can no longer get max deals when leaving their teams via sign-and-trades. Nene, 29, has long coveted Miami and Dallas as landing spots, but would have to force his way to one of those teams via a sign-and-trade since both are well over the cap.”

i think it would be extremely cold for miami to ship ud to denver in a package for nene. he could have signed for denver straight up last summer and left 10 mil on the table.

Heat could trade Haslem and Mike Miller and Magloire for Nene. And then pick up Iverson in free agency to start at the point.
    PG- Iverson
    SG- Wade
    SF- LeBron
    PF- Bosh
    C- Nene
    2012 champions.

I pray the Heat don’t take AI lol. And I don’t see them shipping UD.

First, the Heat is not over the cap, yet, contrary to popular belief. they are at about 65 mil and the tax starts at around 70 mil. So, if Nene is willing to accept the mid-level, which is doubtful I know, he could land with the Heat. Maybe the no state tax thing will persuade him, who knows? He’d be in a place that has a vibrant Brazilian community. C’mon Nene, you’d love it here!

He’s gonna disappoint if he sign that new contract. Not hurt during contract year? Suspicious.

^doubt it.. Nene Hilario Shall be paper chasin. To the highest bidder! which could possibly be…. NJ.. Brook at the 5, Nene at the 4. pretty nice Frontline.

Why is Detroit not going after this guy?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

He will clearly be in a Nuggets uniform this season.

^ Joe Dumars, need i say more?

  • robb

the Heat will get this guy, that’s scary

Heat fans believing Nene wants to play with their “big 3″ so bad he’d consider taking their mle is funny. Hee hee! Ya Dig? Sho nuff!

I don’t know if it is possible but, if Lebron wants to renegotiate his contract and give back some money so the team can get Nene that would great for Heat fans. It shows he wants to win. It’s clear that they need a center and it is clear that Nene is the best center on the market, and he says he wants to play for you guys. I don’t think money will be a BIG factor for Nene at this point in his career. He wants to win a ring after all those years in Denver of having an okay team but not getting deep in the playoffs.

I believe Rockets should be the most suitable team for him. Dallas will sign Tyson back! and Miami cannot give me a max contract. Denver won’t never be a contender anymore, since 3 players of Denvers are in China league right now.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Denver only wants Wilson Chandler back. And Nene, specifically his wife, LOVES Denver. LOVES IT. I think Nene likely comes back to Denver. But if not, it will be for a bigger deal in LA (Clippers – if they don’t get one of the superstars they are trying to acquire), Golden State, or Houston.

I hope they don’t trade UD. That’d be ice cold.

@GP23; Two questions regarding the Iverson idea, first does he still have that much “game” left? (havent seen him play for a while),second, at this stage of his career I wonder if he would accept being a traditional pass first, run the offense, get the ball to your main scorers kind of point guard and not feel like hes got to be the man. Thats a whole lot of egos together on a team, wonder if Spo could take that on. It would be cool to see A.I. make a successful comeback though.

I feel like Nene, with his size and strength, and an overall decent skillset, should be a lot more productive than he is right now. He should at least be reaching 15 and 10 every night.

@Brion…A.I. is STILL my favorite ballplayer in the WORLD but no, he can’t carry on as if he’s the man. And I think him being out of the league for a season and pretty much not even sure if he can get back in, wakes him up a bit…He says he’s willing to play whatever role, for whatever team, just to get back in…I feel him coming off of the bench would be suitable because he’s older, but still has a quick step…I would rather see him in a Knick or Laker jersey, but him in Miami would be a good fit…

boston is in dessperate need for a centre but i doubt they have the CAP :(

Nene is overrated. You people will see.
