Brook Lopez to Undergo Surgery on Broken Foot

Tough news for the New Jersey Nets’ big fella (who has never missed a regular-season game in his career), as Brook Lopez will go under the surgeon’s knife tomorrow to repair a broken bone in his right foot. Nets PR has the details: “Nets Center Brook Lopez has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot, Nets GM Billy King announced. Lopez injury occurred in first half of Nets preseason game at New York on Dec. 21. Lopez will undergo surgery on Fri. Dec. 23.”

Honestly, there could not be better news today for Lakers fans.

after watching gasol and bynum last night it makes you wonder if dwight is worth it… gosh what a toss up.

  • AD

If dwight wants to play for the nets it does not really matter where he is trades…. samething for la but get better brook….

stupid that they wanted brook and picks for dwight, but bynum AND gasol from the lakers. sure portland game in with gerald, but why cant the lakers get a 3rd team? maybe something like houston gets pau, lakers get dwight, magic get bynum and kmart. other fillers in the deal of course

  • AD

@joey do you expect to have bynum and gasol for the future…? the magic with gasol and bynum would be a good team but not for long…. Brook lopez can be a great center

  • AD

@ Joey do you think gasol and bynum would last five years later? if the magic made that trade, the magic would not be championship contenders… Brook lopez will be a great center believe it or not

I like Brook but theres no way he can be as good as Bynum. When Brook starts rebounding and Playing some D then we can talk

    Lopez plays with no heart.

excuse while I jump off a cliff right now

ok AD, Brook can be a great center. yes. but so can Bynum. now both have an injury history, the one and only thing that Brook had an edge on Bynum

well the head on his shoulders is a pretty big advantage.

Looks like he’ll be out for a couple of months.

You can’t trade a player while he is injured. The trade deadline expires before that so…

  • AD

@joey yea bynum can too.. but brook is younger lol

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

    6 months younger

we all saw how broken foots troubled big centers like Big Z and Yao. Then again they are 4-6″ taller than him. Either way, I think it is a sure warning sign. Bynum actually is looking like his knees are strong now. For now at least ha. Brooks doesn’t project to be a great center if only because of his rebounding deficiencies. It’s really too bad as he’s very mobile and smart as a player as well. Maybe he will work harder for rebounds, maybe not, but that could also lead to injuries colliding with his own teammate. I think that was part of the reason he was “lazy” as well. Another reason to hate Humphries! J/K I think he is a good solid basketball player. Good championship piece alongside an elite center. Nets were really looking good as they get more time together and young guys all developing. Now this throws them back a year since they don’t have an adequate replacement at C. Yohan Petro was their backup center? I looked and didn’t even bother picking him up for fantasy even though he will be starting. Pretty sad.

So, the Dwight-to-Nets hypothetical is dead I guess…

Brooke shoulda married Kim Kardashian instead. He’s gonna need another source of income.
