Chris Paul Aims to Bring an NBA Title to the Clippers

Chris Paul’s expectations for his new team are higher than perhaps anyone else’s. CP3 talked about winning an NBA championship during his introductory presser as a Clipper. From the LA Times: “He had joined the team when the Clippers acquired him from New Orleans on Wednesday for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and the unprotected first-round draft pick they got from the Minnesota Timberwolves. ‘I’m excited to bring a championship here to L.A. in a Clippers uniform,’ Paul said. ‘Knowing that they’ve never won a championship here, I wanted to be a part of something like that.’ That sounds like a tall order even for Paul, a four-time All-Star many consider the best point guard in the NBA. During the 30 years Donald Sterling has owned the Clippers, they have been to the playoffs only four times, the last time in 2006. ‘I know about the history of the franchise and different things like that,’ Paul said. ‘But this decision wasn’t about the past. It was about the present and about the future.’”

You can’t just steal one of the Laker banners and write Clippers on it, Christopher.

CP torched the Lakers last year int he playoffs. If he had some help, and perhaps DWest..it could have been a different story. Clippers are a C,PF (back ups) and a shooter away from being title contenders. No one in the league can stop CP. No one in the league can handle BG’s athletism. The pair will be great together. If Caron can stay healthy and the chemistry grows sooner than later…they have a legit shot. Billups needs to be gone, maybe Mo Williams and if they get those pieces…the west could get shocked. CP has the ability, every on the clips needs to join ship.

and yea, stopping that trade to the Lakers was obviously a set up for the Heat 2 be champions…Stern u da man…

Not to be a party pooper in Clipper land, but CP3 could be a free agent in 2013…

So, we’re all going to act like last year’s CP3 never happened? As far as I know this guy has a serious knee problem. This all looks fantastic on paper and I hope CP3 stays healthy but seriously I’d be a little more reserved if I was a Clipper fan, but I guess that’s sports, we all get excited for this kinda stuff, I do too.

“Paper Clipps” as I read somewhere…

LA’s hope rest on the knees of Kobe, Bynum, CP3, and Blake. This will be amusing.

I think its funny that the same people who cheered for Occupy Wall Street got mad that the league punished the most successful franchise to subsidize the least successful franchise. People always hate conservative ideas until they run face-first into a liberal one.

He can do it…love how if this was lebron james last year before the epic you guys would say instant championship. He isnt saying this year. They got pieces now him butler blake dam gonna say it is gonna be a i dare say it a team

  • Karley

the 12th man on the bench aims to bring a title to his team. Congrats CP3 your aiming for something that everyone else is also. stupid headline. he wont do crap for clippers except dish to blake which wont be enough for even playoffs.

Bahahaha at @Karley, I was just gonna post the same thing. If you aren’t ‘aiming to bring a championship’ then what are you doing?
Well, the obvious explanation is Tim Thomas.
You see how everyone is excited, and on the Clippers bandwagon? If LeBron had joined Chicago, instead of Miami, this is the fan support he would have gotten – no joke.

  • AqWord

Go CP !! The clippers will hopefully tare it up in the west more than a little bit. Shut up Karley !

  • bull22

noone can stop cp3??? yeah he was, gave a lakers a run for their money and was handed his playoff exit papers 6 games later… one-he has led a bad team into playoffs and will give him credit for that. 2-try winning MVP of the league, which he has not done. 3- try making it to a conference finals.. otherwise we just have another jaw-jacking fool just running his mouth.
that being said i will show some respect and say they will be 4th seed in the western conference.

the predicted starting line up for the Clip’s are 1:CP3, 2:CBillups, 3: CButler, 4:BGriffin, and 5: DJordan… with MWilliams coming off the bench? thats a decent line up!

  • Sparty’s Law

Umm, isn’t that what every player is supposed to aim for?
