Deron Williams Thinks David Stern is a ‘Bully’

When asked about the Chris Paul trade fiasco, Deron Williams couldn’t hold back and give a PC answer to the media. From the Bergen Record: “First, Deron Williams said he didn’t want to get into it, the madness that is the Chris Paul trade situation. But seconds later he dived in head-first, taking a well-placed shot NBA commissioner David Stern. ‘You’re fighting a bully, man,’ Williams said. “David Stern is a bully, you can’t really go up against him.’ ‘He knows he’s a bully, ain’t no secret,’ Williams continued, laughing. ‘I think everybody knows that.’ … To be fair, Williams put his Bully-gate comments in context, saying ‘You’ve got to be [a bully], man. … I think every owner of every big business is a bully. That’s how they become successful.’ In a wide-ranging interview. Williams also said that him and Paul are friends, but he hasn’t reached out to Paul because if Williams was in a similar situation he wouldn’t want to be bothered. ‘That’s just a tough situation for him and I really feel for him,’ Williams said. ‘We’re friends and I don’t even know what’s going on with that and what’s gonna happen with it. I hear [the trade is] off now.’”

    I love D-Will. He’s a cool cat.

Real talk… Stern overstepped his boundaries on this one, he had no business vetoing the trade…. Definitely doesn’t help his image with the fans, players, or even the GM’s abusing his power like that

Watch Deron get fined for this.

I dont see why the players dont do Stern’s ass in. Hes pathetic. In every way. The lakers cant have CP3 but its ok to give Lamar to the Mavericks. Whatta joke. Oh lets not forget sterns pathetic misuse of authority in the Iverson days when he decided that black players shouldnt be able to dress how they wanted off court. God forbid they show they are individuals not a machine for stern. sterns new name should be sperm because thats what he is.

Co-sign D-Will . . . Its high time for David Stern to go

    @Caboose
No he wont, Stern cant or at least would fine anyone for a personnel comment at him, samething the Stan van gundy last year.

don’t know what u guys think, but although it’s a f*cked up situation for Chris Paul, people are acting like he’s about to die or somethin..this ain’t the end of the world, man..yesterday on NBA.com i saw DWade & lebron sayin how much they feel for him & how they hope he & his family can get through this “rough” time..is it just me or are these NBA players just out of touch with reality? i know we heard it many times throughout the lockout, but still, they need to realize how lucky they are..

    Agree TTC

ttc, I see where you’re coming from, but you gotta put it in context. NBA season is about to be in full effect, and many players like CP3 are anxiously waiting to see where they will end up. Of course its not life threatening or the end of the world, but this was a valid trade that should not have been pulled. It might not be “rough” per se to fans, but this is his life. The city and team you play for have a big impact on your life, he’s ready to close this chapter and start a new one. If you were told you we’re being relocated or reassigned at your job, that would have a big impact on your life. To be told nevermind and now be facing such uncertainty would probably be rough on you, too. It’s all relative, it’s rough on him and other players recognize it. Sure he’s a millionaire and doesn’t have to worry about money, doesn’t mean it’s a fun situation to be in. I have no problem with people sympathizing for him.

Fans who just finished pitching a fit because they might not have the ability to spend their disposable income on their chosen form of meaningless entertainmentare telling athletes to get in touch with reality.
    that is ironic.

You’d think STERN is a bully too if he HAKEEM’ED your layup.

Stern looks like a hobbit but on the inside he’s really Biff Tannen..

  • TheBoy

    totally agree

you guys do realise that the hornets are owned by the NBA? any major trade like this will allow board members, especially stern, to vote on the matter. there was no way stern would allow losing his franchise player for a bunch of 2nd stringers (however formidable they may be). 2nd stringer’d teams wont get you ticket sales and jersey sales etc. so it is obviously not in the best interest of stern to lose cp3 for what he deems as an unworthy trade.
on the other hand, pretty dog move

I really wanna see whether Stern OKs a deal WITHOUT Eric Gordon in it for NOH. If he does, he better have some LEGIT “basketball” reasons other than saying Aminu, Bledsoe and a risk with a top 10 first rounder are better than Odom, Scola, Martin, Dragic and Knicks draft pick………I mean, are you effing telling me you can’t turn Odom, Scola and Martin into someone better than Aminu PLUS some more 1st rounders to trade upwards during draft day to make a really young team?!?!
