Dwight Howard Not Backing Off Trade Demand

There’s been talk in recent days about Dwight Howard being taken off the trade market by the Orlando Magic, but that’s apparently news to Dwight. Because he still wants out. From the Orlando Sentinel: “He is sticking by his request to be traded from the Orlando Magic. ‘It still stands,’ Howard said. Asked whether he fluctuates day to day, he answered, ‘There is no back-and-forth.’ Howard’s statements, responses to specific questions from the media after practice, came one day after Magic General Manager Otis Smith, in consultation with Magic CEO Alex Martins, turned down a blockbuster trade. That deal would have sent Howard to the New Jersey Nets and brought, among others, center Brook Lopez from the Nets and swingman Gerald Wallace from the Portland Trail Blazers to Central Florida. Magic officials say they hope they can change Howard’s mind before the March 15 trade deadline. But what remains unclear is whether the Magic front office actually believes there is a reasonable chance of a Howard change of heart.”

Oklahoma City has the pieces to get a deal done for Dwight Howard. Pair Dwight with Durant.

Did anyone hear Stephen A. Smith on the Mike & Mike show this morning? He claims that Kobe is so pissed about current events that he will demand a trade from the Lakers. Stephen said he stands by this info.

@Brion – could totally see Kobe doing this. Although it might be a short lived flare up like a few years back. He has to be asking himself, “What are we doing.” Other teams are stacking the deck and the Lakers are folding their chairs..

  • 2dope

Wait I thought Dwight loved Orlando, or was it New Jersey? Nah…he wants to stay..or maybe it was go.

  • Jono

    STFU and play in Orlando

Would OKC have been able to sign Dwight hadn’t they given Perk that contract?

  • Zabba

Dwight Howard needs to be a Nets.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

How about Perk, Westbrook, Sefolosha and some picks for Dwight Howard? Perk has lost a lot of weight, and he’d get reunited with Big Baby. I think this is a good deal for both teams.

dwight really needs to shut the freakup and play… but its become apparent that number 1 he will not get a ring this year with his whining and distractions, and number 2 he does not care about the fans in orlando…

  • http://slamonline.com YKnoT

Stephen A is about as relevant as his hairline!

@IamOrange, interesting. I seriously don’t know about if that’s too much though, but first person I heard suggest that.
I guess everyone’s thinking that Kobe and Dwight will end up together. Whatever team gets both will have nothing else, and with Kobe’s age they don’t have time to build. Dwight isn’t gonna get gifted to Lakers like Pau was.
Just go to Chicago already Dwight. Although, I’d love to see him in NJ.

Steven A will say anything for some cheese doodles.

If the Magic front office seriously thinks they can change Dwight’s mind this season, they’re crazy. There’s going be relentless media scrutiny all season if they don’t trade Dwight, along with rumours and constant speculation and nitpicking by critics. Top that off with a trade market that knows that the Magic are dealing from a position of weakness…trading Dwight now seems their only option other than losing him for nothing later.

  • bull22

dont want dwight in chicago, we would lose half of our team getting him and he is not going to like coach tibb’s down his throat all of the time. he wants to go where he can do what he wants and be able to mandhandle the coach and be a gm in training…

  • All Day

@ YKnoT: That was LOL funny!!!

I honestly can’t see him in a better situation than in Orlando… am I wrong? Kobe will get annoyed with his antics (it will remind him too much of Shaq). New Jersey will be a serious high risk/high reward situation for Howard – the pressure will be too much in NJ… At Orlando he knows whats going on…. I don’t even know why he wants out??? They should be upgrading players AROUND Dwight not keeping everyone else and getting rid of him.

Dwight is gonna Slowplay his way to La, ala ‘Bron and Bosh.

orlando has been on the decline since their finals run. they are no longer relevant nor will they be relevant with howard due to mismanagement (vince carter, resigning hedo), outrageous contracts (rashard lewis`), and miscalculations/bad moves (signing arenas who is not the same player he was before the knee injury nor will he probably ever be).

last season, orlando loss to an atlanta team in the 1st round who they embarrassed just a season before, the writing is all over the arena walls. It`s over. Obviously, putting soft, offensive-minded, 3-pointer shooters around howard has lossed its appeal. orlando looked ridiculous last year in the playoffs and nothing is going to change that.

the best team for howard to go to is NJ where they have money to spend, a point guard who would definitely resign if they acquired him, and a defensive-minded coach in avery johnson who has been there and done that as a player and coach with san antonio and dallas (a team who couldn`t even grasp the concept of defense under don nelson before johnson led them to the finals in 2006 where they choked).

I am not saying howard should demand a trade but he needs to get out of orlando well before march like RIGHT NOW. It`s time for him to stop being so indecisive. You can`t satisfy everyone. Get over it and get out of orlando.
