Lakers Can’t Appeal NBA’s Decision on Chris Paul Trade

According to the LA Times, the Lakers can’t really do anything about the NBA’s ham-fisted decision to nix the Chris Paul trade last night: “The Lakers planned to appeal to the NBA office after the Chris Paul trade was nixed, but there was a problem: The NBA considered the trade to have been blocked by New Orleans, not the league itself. It’s a sticky situation because the NBA owns the Hornets after purchasing them last December. ‘This is technically a New Orleans decision,’ said an NBA official who did not want to be identified because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the trade. In other words, one of the three teams involved in Thursday’s trade technically got cold feet, but it’s hard to deny the existence of a contributing factor to the death of the deal. Some small-market owners were irritated by the Lakers acquiring the league’s top scoring-passing combo at point guard.”

According to Stern this decision was made in the set interest of the Hornets and the Hornets alone. Which is a load of bs

Stern is just like the pigs in Animal Farm.

look forward to the biggest lawsuit against the nba cause of this block. stern just buried himself. might not have a case right now but come next year when NO loses cp3 for nothing and he loses 30-40 million$. Hell will rain down

The Hornets franchise is owned and operated by the NBA. Good luck on that lawsuit.

Can’t those teams just come up with the exact same trade again and see whether the NBA has enough cojones to nix it for the second time?

@allenp, yeah but he is the BIG PIG devouring everyone else while everyone elses whining about it just falls on their deaf ears and we are just simple observers… time to get over it and move on.

Rumor has it Stern would have OK’d the trade if Kobe would agree to playing the rest of his career with one hand tied behind his back.

Conspiracy: Stern to sabotage Hornets, then retire.

Rasheed Wallace saw all of this coming….league smelling fishy right now….I feel like Mo Williams after Lebron left Cleveland…heartbroken

I have a question: Since the owners are able to buy a team, is it possible for the players’ union to also buy a team? All the players put their money together and purchase the next team that is for sell….

  • discodan

yeah so the nba is either getting assf**ked now or assf**ked in a year when chris paul sues for losing potentially 30 mil.

  • bull22

    @duckaslop, blah,blah,blah,blah,blah,blah…….

  • http://www.2ksports.com showtime

thats the thing paul cant sue, he will loose the money on his on because of the new cba & the freedom to choose and not stay will cost him the 30mill

  • shutup

you have to be approved to get a team and players cant play for a team they own, thats why MJ had to give up his piece of the bullets/wizards

  • http://skjflf.com Jukai

JTaylor: They can’t, because the NBA owns one of those teams…
