    Did they amnesty Chauncey?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

‘Cuz if they seriously amnestied Chauncey Billups in favor of Mike Bibby… Wth, Dolan.

  • T-Money

    didn’t they watch the playoffs?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

wow… Mike Bibby… really…? we’re letting Chauncey go and WANTING Bibby…? Let me guess… David Stern had a clause that said Isaiah Thomas could make one more transaction for the Knicks before the start of the season?????

  • http://www.slamonline.com house

Wow, wtf is Dolan thinking? Bibby is worse than Billups at this point and NY already have decent backups for the point.

  • Landry_legend

Don’t any of u understand they’re getting rid of billups to sign chandler, without dropping billups they cant finalize the chandler deal… And bibby for the minimum isn’t a bad deal to add dept, toney Douglas will probably start wen healthy….

  • Louie

Wow, knicks downgraded very much. Going from Billups to Bibby ? Did you see what Bibby did for Heat? NOTHING AT ALL. Don’t get me wrong, Chandler is a good pickup for Knicks, makes them a little bit better defensively but Should I as a Heat fan be worried? HELL NO.

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

Landry’s right – it’s not Chauncy for Bibby, it’s Chauncy for Chandler. Bibby is just what they picked up with the change.

hahahaaaah, Well this is what Knicks fans wanted, Every free agent available.

I’m not mad at the Knicks’ move for Bibby. People get mad when they do nothing, and when they do out isn’t enough. Last year, Toney Douglass sucked playing pg. It isn’t his natural position, he did much better as a shooting guard (let’s not forget all those 3s he made). Knicks NEED A TRUE PG even if it is a temporary move. We need to be able to beat Miami, LA, and Freakin Boston, and we can’t do that without a TRUE PG. *I’m thrilled we have a REAL CENTER that isn’t a “hasbeen”

  • ryan

kwame hame brown or dj mbanged is next…LMAO

  • Monkeyfntstc

    ALLEN IVERSONN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mr21966

Ny knicks stop making the same mistakes over and over again invest your money in young blood, Mike bibby is doneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  • red man

Thank God Pat Riley didn’t re sign him !! good luck with that knicks, another no defense weapon added lol.

Billups had to be amnestied to make room for Chandler. Bibby is a solid veteran point guard pickup for vet min. Low risk, high reward. Knicks aren’t done either. Haters gonna hate cause they know the Knicks are making quality moves.

I would hate to see Iverson in a Knicks uniform, as a Sixer fan, that would hurt. Anyway, this move made me smile, because Bibby has NOTHING left, he showed that last year.
“When it’s time to play D, there’s someone you won’t see, that’s Amareeee”

NY Knicks love to run… I understand the whole Chauncey for Chandler thing. How will Bibby fit with the Knicks? I’ve seen babies crawl faster than he runs. Maybe a change in tempo for them. It would allow them to use more energy to focus on defense. Iverson would look great in a Knicks uniform but I don’t think they can afford him.

  • meloman2.0

Man, Baron Davis is suuuuch a better fit than this, I don’t get it

Anyone who thinks the Knicks amnesited Billups to get Bibby needs to get off the CRACK PIPE and back to FLIPPING BURGERS. LOL!!! And don’t quote me, but according to Marc Stein the Knicks/Mavs aiming to turn Chandler deal into sign-and-trade, thus allowing the Knicks to retain their ability to use their MLE…that would be huge. Knicks front office getting ready to make another splash and likely at the shooting guard position. I wonder who?

Bibby was a mummy in MIA

  • MikeC.

If we pick up a young FA with potential, having Bibby as a mentor isn’t a bad move. Counting on Bibby to play starter’s minutes is foolhardy.

I’m no GM, but can you imagine JR Smith at shooting guard and Toney Douglas at point? The Knicks perimeter defense would be outstanding, and both those cats can feed off of Melo and Stat at the offensive end for 3′s. Maybe it’s JJ Barea the Knicks want to go after with their MLE…I don’t know. I’d be happy with either JJ or JR. I think the Knicks would have to buyout JR though ($500,000?), because he’s under contract in China. As for Muddy Fields, I believe he’ll be the Knicks 6th man this season no matter what direction the Knicks go adding to their backcourt this off-season.

  • lisa

Mike Bibby as a mentor??? Lol.. I mean he isn’t horrible but it’s Mike Bibby. Tony is still there so he will start when he is healthy. No one wants Baron Davis?

  • http://www.slamonline.com aman from arkansas

    I agree Lisa

Lisa, did you know? Mike Bibby is the son of a coach (Knick draft pick) Henry Bibby. Sounds like a good mentor to me.

  • Sherlock

I’d rather the Knicks bring back Nate Robinson than sign Bibby.

Hell, why not even Iverson or even (puts on flame suit) MARBURY! (Dr. Evil laugh).

Honestly out of all of the available free agent point guards, Bibby is probably the worst.

Ideally, Baron Davis is the guy to get, but even if he does get waived via amnesty, the process that follows that would make it highly difficult for the Knicks to obtain him.

In a dream world I would like to see the Knicks sign all of the Denver nuggets currently in China (Keyon, Wilson & JR). They basically fill every last hole the Knicks have on their bench (PF, SF & scoring at SG). Plus I, like many other Knick fans REALLY miss having Wilson Chandler on the team.

  • lisa

@IAMORANGE4EVER… That’s not good enough, like I said he isn’t horrible but, when was the last time Mike Bibby was relevant in the NBA? I can’t remember.. He has improved on his 3pt% but nothing else. The Knicks want to compete for a ring but they are going to have to play defense. It starts with the pg and on up. No one on the Knicks is good defensively besides Chandler. I use to be a fan of Bibby when he played for SAC with Christie and company. The Knicks could do better. I’m just saying.

  • lisa

    I miss Chandler too!

  • chris

they should wait for baron to be cut instead of signing bibby

  • Conoro

    D… what?

  • Hart

its something, i mean …… o who am i kidding, WTF! ( although i loved him on the kings)

  • blakos

    Make it Happen Walsh????

  • O

Aw f*ck! I hate this bird, Bibby! Never liked the f*cker! I hope Baron Davis falls into the Knicks hands…

  • O

For this we should’ve signed Carlos Arroyo. He would’ve played extra hard being surrounded by the Puerto Rican pride population in NY..

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    ORANGE, did you know?
Mike Bibby and Henry Bibby can’t f*cking stand each other.

  • Heals

If I were a Knicks fan I would be incredibly frustrated by the lack of direction/inability to stick to a plan. It seems like they keep getting enamored with the next big name rather than sticking to their blueprint. They went from chasing CP3 or DW to now Tyson and Bibby. Meanwhile, quality rotation guys are getting swooped up left and right, yet NY is inactive despite having inadequate depth at every position. If STAT, Melo and Ty are you’re 3 highest salaries there not winning any rings under this regime cause the rest of leagues elite teams have stars with much more complimentary games…

@2sikh – Iverson is chillin somewhere with Latrell and JR Rider. Basketball’s a team game, and when you prove yourself as someone who can’t play on a team you get blacklisted.
Iverson was an undeniable stud, but he only knew how to be effective one, ball-stopping, way.
