DeMarcus Cousins Re-Joining the Sacramento Kings

As expected, DeMarcus Cousins will re-join his team as they continue on their merrily dysfunctional way. Reports the Sac Bee: “The Kings maintain that DeMarcus Cousins demanded to be traded. Cousins maintains that didn’t happen.Neither side is budging on its claim following a meeting Monday involving Cousins, his agent, John Greig, and Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie. After the meeting, Petrie decided Cousins would join the Kings on their flight for tonight’s game against Memphis. Cousins was sent home by coach Paul Westphal before Sunday’s game against New Orleans. Westphal said that during a meeting after Saturday’s loss to New York, Cousins asked to be traded, a demand the coach said the center also made Dec. 24. Westphal added that there had been multiple issues with Cousins that had not been publicized. Westphal said Cousins was told if there were more incidents there would be ‘less protection’ from the team in not disclosing them.Cousins issued a statement Monday: ‘I want to address my missing the New Orleans game Sunday. I have not demanded or requested a trade. I don’t agree with the actions taken but will give my sincere effort to put it behind me and compete the best I can for my team.’ Cousins will dress for tonight’s game but will not start, Westphal said.”

I agree that Westphal has little control of this team…but who would work as his replacement? Would this Kings group listen to anybody?

Can we please promote Keith Smart to head coach already?

Let Jimmer’s brother be the coach.

How can the coach come out and say a player demanded a trade and the player say he didnt? That doesnt even make sense. If someone says something along the lines of “if you dont like this, or that, then trade me”…is that a “demand” for a trade? Cousins is young, immature and extremely talented for his position. Too good for his own good. Send him and his immaturity to another team. You could get a mature vet in his place that can get you 10 and 10. Puts the ball in Reke’s hands more anyways.

Watched most the Griz/Kings game tonight. The Kings are a mess. They almost NEVER try to get the ball inside & when they do they deliver the ball so late, the ushers could tell you who they’re trying to pass to. Jimmer just jacks up any shot he pleases. You can imagine why Cousins isn’t happy. Maybe he’s a handful, but that team just plays fundementally bad basketball. That can’t be any fun.

Cousins just kinda lumbered up and down the court, played well on some possessions, but didn’t seem to care too much. Griz played well at times. Tony ‘Turnover’ Allen should have figured out how to make a layup by now. He was like 5-12 from point blank range. Gay/Gasol/Conley looked decent. They could make another playoff run if they stay healthy.
