Derrick Rose on Dwight Howard: ‘Who Wouldn’t Want to Play With Him?’

Never one to openly recruit players to his team, Derrick Rose nevertheless acknowledge that it would be pretty awesome to team up with Dwight Howard (who also said he’s open to the idea.) From the CSN Chicago: “Rose addressed that Chicago Tribune report before facing the Washington Wizards on Monday night: ‘Me and Dwight definitely have a relationship, especially because of adidas. I know our market and the city speaks for itself, if someone was interested to come to the Chicago Bulls,’ Rose said of the Magic’s All-Star center. ‘Dwight, he’s a great player. Who wouldn’t want to play with him, but you never know what’s going to happen.’”

Um, his current teammates who he sold out on maybe?

  • http://www.leaguelineup.com/tdt Shavon

If Dwight Howard goes to the Bulls they would go straight to the finals and i will jump on their bandwagon lol

  • Jono

If this happens, ECF gonna be war! Battle of the ex-floridian stars, battle of the past 3 mvp holders, Nike vs Adidas..make it happen!

  • Fresh Boirdee

As long as they could keep Deng and maybe Taj, everybody is on the table. And rescue Eric Gordon from NO… chips for the next 3 years! Make it happen Chicago.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeLRym4Q-pg nbk

So everyone who complained about what Dwight said yesterday better come in here and say the same damn thing.

  • http://www.yahoo.com The Fury

Next week, Dwight will say “Me, Russel and Kevin will be great together.”

  • http://sjdfklf.com Jukai

Taj would 100% go in a trade for Howard. Deng would probably go. Let’s be realistic here, Howard ain’t coming for free.
I think Noah, Taj, and Deng for Howard and Richardson is a realistic trade. Even replacing Richardson for Ryan Anderson makes the trade seem a bit unrealistic.

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

Dwight on the Bulls would be epic:
    West: Thunder – Clips
    East: Heat – Bulls

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-Ray

nbk you know that is not gonna happen. Rose is the Jesus of the NBA he can do no wrong.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeLRym4Q-pg nbk

Don’t matter, just proving my point.

  • Darryl

Makes sense, get Dwight as FA or trade Deng and Jokim Noah and sign Eric Gordon and 2 years the Bulls will be a threat better than they are now.
    You’ll Have
    Rose-PG
    Gordon-SG
    Boozer-PF
    Howard-C
    Watson-SF

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-Ray

Yea I get ya unfortunately a lot of slurpers won’t do it.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Oh I know, but they can read, maybe it’ll curb overreacting in the future. lol

  • http://slamonline.com. datkid

HE DID NOT SAY THIS ABOUT LEBRON.

  • Ben

@T-RAY I hope he’s not Jesus, banging a whore would’nt be a great career move.

  • Fresh Boirdee

@ Jukai, very true… but a brotha can wish.

  • http://sjdfklf.com Jukai

Fresh: Hey, if there is a firesale, that’d be amazing, but Taj is gone. It’s not a big deal, you got Boozer who is soft as charmin but you got Howard out of it so it works out.
Losing Deng would be a much bigger loss. There are deals you can sort of work out in your head to keep Deng, I’m just not sure the realistic expectations of that. Orlando wants a lot for Howard. If they didn’t, he’d be gone already.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-Ray

@Ben Kobe did it and he seems fine

  • shutup

@NBK d!ckhead if you cant see the difference I’ll point it out pea-brain, Rose isnt talking about leaving his team, he’s not calling out anybody on his team to the media , actually the opposite he takes blame publicly to the world. Also if you cant see the difference in Rose’s and Dwights approach to the game your blinded by your own stupidity, Rose has very small things that he needs to work on his game, some might say he is as complete a player as he could be, Dwight on the other hand has so many holes offensively, that it hurts his team in close situations and when the team does bad he’s quick to point the finger at the team or coach or everyone else instead of improving himself. Correct me if I’m wrong Orlando has made some very good moves, sh!t the magic made it to the finals only a couple years ago. Thats all for now……

  • http://slamonline.com. datkid

NBK vs Shutup round 2,0000,000 Smh… yo shutup why do you keep antagonizing somebody who casually makes you look stupid every time? your 0-82 here little guy

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard both have holes in their game. Both answer questions that are asked by the media. Dwight has never said to the media he wants to play somewhere else. He has never called anyone on his team out. Or thrown anyone under the bus. Find a quote to back up all that 14 year old girl sensitivity that’s spilling out of you like you just started your first period.

  • Ldub

NBK and SHUTUP have a rivalry like Lakers and Celtics. Both have really good points, but for whatever reason, cant seem to play nice! I think that Roses’s game would greatly compliment Howards. Also, his competetiveness would have to encourage dwight and hold him accountable night in and night out. Ive never heard or seen Rose call out a teammate in public. Seems like he speaks through his actions. Personally I think it would be great to see the 2 of them team up. They both deserve to have that all-star player next to them like all the others in the L. This would be like team adidas on NBA JAM!

Its not letting me post the article by WOJ that just came out but google Dwight Howard lost pass to rip teammates

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance DFrance21

Quote from Dwight calling hsi teammates out:

“I look at guys and they don’t look like they want to play.”

“I told them at halftime, ‘If you don’t want to play, just stay in the locker room, because it don’t make sense for a team who we should beat to just demolish us.’ ”

“If you don’t want to play, stay home. People work too hard. I want to win a championship. I work too hard every night for anybody to not want to go out there and play hard.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

“It’s not the first time I called them out, and sometimes I’ve got to do things that people don’t like,” Howard said. “People hate what they don’t understand, and my teammates understand why I said what I said. They all agree. It’s not like they’re [saying], ‘Oh, Dwight’s wrong for what he said.” – I realize your a p*ssy shutup, but the people in the NBA are full grown men. Criticizing the whole team is not throwing anyone under the bus. If you watched the games where he said these things you would know what he’s saying is 100% true, NOBODY is getting offended. And that quote is from the article shutup doesn’t know how to post.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I think everyone that is getting upset is confusing the media relaying Dwight trade rumors and fake quotes ad nauseum with Dwight actually calling people out and starting drama.

The pick’n roll with Rose and Howard would be insane.
If Howard wants to win and win now Chicago should be his only choice.

  • shutup

Fake quotes? lmao your as stubborn and as dumb as a mule, I posted it three different ways and one is awaiting moderation d!ckhead, your so desperately trying to be right that now even when Dwight is quoted as saying he called them out, that you stand there and try to discredit Woj. Nobody is getting offended? so explain why the team is playing like utter sh!t

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The Magic players are affected by the media. Not Dwight. The Media. Dwight hasn’t thrown anyone under a bus. End Of Story. Guys call our there teams effort all the f*ckin time. Larry Bird called his teammates sissies, DURING THE FINALS – what’d they do? They turned around and played like men and won. Maybe you should be questioning the Magic’s mental toughness as a team. I wouldn’t want to be there either if I was Dwight and they are this fragile.

  • shutup

So now Dwight has no affect on his teammates even though they admit that it does, your a silly bitter man, its ok to admit your wrong, Dwight is immature and lacks leadership, I really question his competitiveness and his drive to get better as well. and I could care less about the magic team, I dont even like the Magic, Dwight is acting like a spoiled child plain and simple, if you hop off his nutz for a sec maybe you could see that

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

They admit the Dwight rumors affect them. Dwight isn’t the guy spreading those rumors. – and I am not defending Dwight as a leader. I said yesterday what he’s saying is dumb. But he isn’t calling anyone out, or doing anything negative to his team. The fact that he wants to be traded was not released by him. — The whole point of all of this is, Dwight is not bad or wrong for telling the Magic he wants to be traded. It helps the organization to know he’s wants out. The rest of what he’s been saying is what he’d say “we need to change our effort” ect is the same sh*t he’d be saying if there weren’t any trade rumors. All he’s been doing is answering questions. Never has he thrown anyone under a bus, or even said publicly he wants out of Orlando. The rest is overreacting, by people like you.

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com Enigmatic

@Patron James – yeah he did.
When asked about playing with LeBron summer before last he basically said the same thing.
I’ll even try to find an article if I can to prove it.

  • http://slamonline.com. datkid

Honestly? Deron williams and/ or CP3 would complint howard better than rose. but whatever.

  • shutup

they didnt say the rumors, they said his trade request, and hes the one fueling the rumors by naming another team day after day that he would like to play for. and again holding a team accountable in the locker room is one thing (nothing wrong with that) but after the game telling the media that you called them out and saying you still didnt get the effort you want is b!tching to the media and throwing your team under the bus. Its really not that hard to understand, deep down I think you know your wrong your just too much of a tool to admit it, being the good christian that I am, I forgive you, lets move on…..

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

JJ Reddick on if the trade demand is affecting them “It is. Yeah, it is. I’ve said since the beginning: As long as he’s here, it will be a distraction because it’s all anybody talks about when they talk about our team. We don’t hear it? Of course we do.
    .
“But we also have to be professionals, do our jobs, and for the first 15 games we did that. And I don’t think that Dwight’s trade situation made us play so badly these last few games.”
    .
You see how he said that’s all anybody talks about? That has nothing to do with Dwight talking.
    .
And please, show me where Dwight is adding teams to his list. Hell, find an example of Dwight mentioning wanting to play for another team AT ALL.
    .
What you hear about his trade demands are ALWAYS from SOURCES. NEVER from DWIGHT.

  • MLK4Life

Dwight is handling this worse than Melo and CP3. Even if he’s not the one discussing teams, he could control his agent and those who are leaking all of this information in his camp. The news that he met with Billy King and the Nets owner. All of this is on Dwight. He couldn’t make up his mind. He can no longer criticize his teammates when everyone, including them, knows that in wanting to be traded, he’s telling them that they’re not good enough. He’s just another player at this point. He can’t lead that team. Whether he’s making comments about his future, or his agent, it doesn’t matter. The whole camp should’ve kept it between them and the franchise. Not once did Chris say anything even after Stern blocked the Lakers trade. His agent was quiet. Handled it perfectly. All he said was “Wow” after that deal fell through. Dwight could have handled this before it got out of hand.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Chris Paul demanded a trade and gave the Hornets a list of teams. Dwight did the same thing. And Dwight never talked to another team. Stop believing everything you read. No player under contract can talk to another team. That is tampering.

Jameer Nelson Blames Dwight Howard Saga for Struggles its an article on this site, Dwight Howard Not Backing Off Trade Demand another article on this site, Report: Dwight Howard Adds Clippers to Trade Wish-List another article on this site. DO YOU WANT MORE?????? this article is him throwing his coach under the bus Dwight Howard on Stan Van Gundy: ‘Relationship Has to Grow’……..its documented that he requested a trade and the fact that he hasnt come out and spoke against it is another proof…..”Silence gives consent.” So runs an ancient maxim of common law, and from that maxim flows a widely applied legal principle: the rule of tacit admission. On the theory that an innocent man would loudly deny a serious charge, the rule holds that a suspect silent in the face of an accusation has tacitly admitted the crime. And such silence can later be introduced at his trial as an indicator of guilt.

Magic May File Charges Against Nets and Rockets for Tampering with Dwight Howard another article on this site

  • MLK4Life

Dwight said he wanted to be traded. Then he said he didn’t. Dude can’t make up his mind. He texts with Kobe about joining the Lakers. Talks with Stephen Jackson about playing on the same team. However the information got out, it came from reliable sources. They don’t pull info from thin air. That’s a direct slap in the face to his current teammates. If I’m Jameer Nelson or any of the other guys, I have a serious problem with this cat acting like he’s earned the right to disrespect his teammates.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

That’s throwing his coach under the bus? damn you are too sensitive. And you clearly don’t have the ability to differentiate drama coming from dwight with drama coming from the media. Dwight adds Clippers to wishlist, without any mention of where that rumor came from. Dwight doesn’t want to talk publicly about trade demand, so he is silent, which is now just as bad as talking. GTFOH, when he’s quiet it’s giving consent. When he talks he’s being “a whiny b*tch” – The only constant here is that you are overly sensitive.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

shutup i showed you yesterday the article from ESPN that disputes that rumor “Magic May File Charges Against Nets and Rockets for Tampering with Dwight Howard another article on this site” – and MLK those are also unconfirmed rumors. You guys believe everything. Which is cute.

  • Red

Honestly? They wouldn’t, Rose can penetrate & he can pass if he penetrates and doesn’t have a decent lay-up he’s good enough of a passer to pass it out to Howard. He can hit the jumper & open things up for Howard too. CP3 can’t penetrate like Rose & Williams isn’t the superstar Rose is.

  • shutup

maybe I just have a different perspective on what a teammate should be, I find this behavior despicable, but if thats the type of behavior you condone i feel sorry for you because fatherhood is gonna eat you alive.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    HAHA you’re ignorant.

  • MLK4Life

Like I said, reliable sources. You can hang onto Dwight if you want. Point is he’s turning out to be more of a diva than any of the guys who managed to team up together. Let’s also point out that he’s not even a go to guy. He will be at the most, second in rank on whichever team he plays for. You can’t give him the ball in crunch time because he can’t make free throws. His best bet is Boston or Dallas. He, Deron Williams and a bunch of average/below average guys would be a five seed at best.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

oh and I find it funny because you are convinced you’re not. Oh and your also a liar, or the worst “christian” on earth. either way.

  • shutup

you see the contradiction your post, yes he’s a whiny b!tch because he keeps talking about where he would like to go who he would like to play with and how his team is letting him down. He’s not silent on his trade situation, not by a long shot, there are reports of him talking directly to reporters about his trade request. why is it so hard to understand that stuff in the locker room between teammates should stay there? or conversations between he and the coach should remain just that, do you want your wife or gf to run to her friend every time you get into a fight?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Who are these reliable sources MLK? And wtf does him being a guy you can give the ball to in the crunch even matter in this situation? He’s by far, the best center in the league. There is nobody even close. If he is going to a different team to win (because the Magic haven’t improved or made a good decision in 3+ years), it would be in the best interest of the Magic Organization to get something back for him, rather then lose him for nothing. So the trade request is not at all a negative, except for this season, when they weren’t going to win anything anyway. How anyone can argue that Dwight’s trade demand hurts the Magic in the long run if befuddling. Can anyone see the difference between Denver and Cleveland/Toronto?

  • shutup

and not overly sensitive- highly annoyed, slightly disappointed, just plain old frustrated that this guy is what represents big men in the league. I think he’s doing a disservice to the legacy of the center position.

  • MLK4Life

Dwight is the best center. But how many true centers are left? Bynum, Chandler, the Lopez twins. He’s the best because of his physical dominance, not his skillset. I’m with you on the fact that the Magic have to trade him. We agree there. Otis Smith would be an idiot to keep him all season. But Dwight knows he could just say that these stories that come out are false. Once you put a trade request in, which he did, calling out teammates is useless because they know you don’t want to be there. And what did you say that has shutup talking about fatherhood? Geez, dude is intense. The Nuggets actually are better without Melo thanks to the Knicks giving them all of their good role players. Cleveland was built around LeBron and his skillset so we all knew they’d be bad (even though Kyrie Irving is special). Toronto was never great even with Bosh because he’s not a guy you build a franchise around. Orlando must get good pieces and a draft pick. It seems like Otis Smith is the only guy who thinks he can talk Dwight into staying.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeLRym4Q-pg Allenp

    NBK is right
Dwight has never publicly expressed an interest in playing for another team that I remember. all those stories have been based on “sources.”
they might be true, but they aren’t him.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    exactly.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

MLK, the point is, it helps a team more to deal with 5 months of drama in order to receive something for their best player, then to go 8 months with a quietly unhappy star player and lose him for nothing.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Wilt Chamberlain and KAJ demanded/requested trades. The Center Position Legacy has not suffered one bit.

  • MLK4Life

My main point is he can’t possibly think it was useful to call out a team he doesn’t even want to play for.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

haha you would be surprised. the dude seems pretty dumb.

  • GC6

Its about time Stan van Gundy held him accountable, Dwight has always complaining how he never gets the ball and in every game I have watched he gets the ball and chucks a brick or turns it over when he on the court he disrupts the flow and sucks the confidence out of the team shows no leadership before I thought he was underrated now completely overrated its obvious in his attitude he wants to leave so just trade him maybe I might start liking him again when he is traded. Orlando need to trade to the nets and get Lopez and get picks the draft is going to be good.

Why not just say “No comment” tho? Yes, he hasn’t actually said “I want to play for so and so” But to me saying, “of course I would love to play for this team, if thats what God wants” is basically the same thing. You’re still discussing playing for another team. Settle on a phrase like “I play for the Orlando Magic and until that changes I will only discuss this team” and use it EVERYTIME a report asks one of these trade questions.

  • buschfire

I’m from Toronto, but a big Bulls fan since the late 80′s I would love to see Dwight Howard on the Bulls! That would be epic. Imagine D Rose and Dwight. Hopefully they can get rid of Boozer and package him in the deal!!

    Go Raptors! lol

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

dfrance – first of all Chicago isn’t even on his list of teams. Second, by saying, if god wants us to play together it will happen, is as much saying he wants Rose in Orlando as it is saying he wants to be in Chicago. – he has NEVER discussed another team. Ever.

  • Red

We have CHA pick, so no false info. And nbk since when did you become D. Howard’s conscience? Lol, who made you his agent to be saying all that?

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com Enigmatic

I think Brian @ 3:54 might be confused.
The Bulls technically own the Bobcats’ first round pick, but it is lottery-protected this year, so if the Bobcats did end up with the second overall pick, they would keep the pick.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

What, taking the words he says for what they actually mean? My life speaking english apparently made me his conscious.

  • Red

Oh yeah it’s protected, damn forgot about that. So then how does that work, does it continue onto next year?

  • Red

So how long have you been an idiotic douche? Last I checked you weren’t a Center for the Magic. You yourself stated that Howard never truly said he wanted to be traded or threw his team under yet all of a sudden you know everything he wants? Lol, k.

  • robb

@shutup I’ll give you an example: Personally, I’m sick of these Dwight Howard trade talks, but I’m not sick of Dwight Howard. See? The same thing happens with jameer. He’s blaming the Dwight Howard Saga, but he’s not blaming DH himself. It’s different. They are pro athletes, they know how the media works and he finds it distracting but it has nothing to do with Dwight directly.

  • Anonymous

Man some of the people know nothing about trading. The only ppl we need to trade from the bulls to the Magic are boozer, either noah or asik, and maybe rip. Boozer can’t play when it counts the most as you all saw against the heat. Noah is one of the top 5 centers so he would be a good trade. Asik is one of the best bench centers in the nba so he would also be a good trade. Rip is getting old and he probably won’t be the same ol rip as he was when he won the nba championship with the pistons so we need to get rid of him. So our starting lineup would be
Pg- Derrick Rose Bench: Pg- Cj Watson, John lucas III
Sg- Ronnie Brewer Sg – Kyle Korver, (We prob will have to get another sg!)
Sf- Luol Deng Sf – Jimmy Butler, Kyle Korver
Pf- Taj Gibson Pf – Brian Scalabrine ( We also have to get another pf!)
Center- D12! Center – Noah or Asik, ( Also another Center)

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Red how long have you been pretending you can read? I have said nothing at all that has anything to do with Dwight’s personal feelings. All I did was clarify factual information that you can check for yourself.

  • Red

Factual information=personal interpretation of what another person has said. Oh well excuse me, so again how long have you been a idiotic douche?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Lol that’s interpeting? Telling someone that adding meaning to a vague phrase like “if god wants us on the same team he will make it happen” means one thing as much as it does another is interpreting what exactly? All I did was clarify that he didn’t insinuate he wanted to be on the Bulls in any way. He said he would like to play with Derrick Rose, and if God wanted him to, he would make it happen. There is no interpretation needed. Those that interpret that quote by saying in other words “trade me” are the people acting like they are part of his conscious. Not me. dummy.

  • Red

Save the endless stories you keep typing because you’re a bum who sits on a thread all day hoping to have something productive to do, in this case defend your stupidity & need to feel you’re Dr. Xavier and know everything a basketball player thinks.

  • shutup

@robb how does that not have to do with Dwight directly, its cause and effect, even if you wanna argue that Dwight didnt cause it, which is laughable, he isnt doing anything to stop it either, quite the contrary hes fueling the fire by saying it would be nice to play with so and so, i could see myself playing in such city and etc, etc…as for the Wilt, Kareem comparison please save it, both of those players were at the top of the game on both sides of the ball and demanding/requesting a trade isnt my problem with dwight, I didnt have a problem with Chris Paul, I didnt have a problem with Melo, its the constant flow from him thats annoying couple that with the lack of respect for his teammates and his either lack of desire to improve the glaring weaknesses in his game, you can try to blame the media for all this as much as you want but i think thats really naive.

  • RedRum

I am not a Bulls fan, but if they get Dwight without giving too much they will win the Chip. It is very rare in the league that you team up the best post player and the best pointguard and a team does not win it all.

The constant flow, were you not paying attention during the Melo drama last season? The players can’t avoid that drama. They get asked questions everytime they show their face infront of a camera. Is Dwight handling this correctly? Probably not. But he isn’t doing anything terrible. He’s doing nothing Melo didn’t do a year ago. It’s just more widely covered and scrutinized because he is a much better player.

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com Enigmatic

Red – the Charlotte pick is protected this year if it’s in the lottery, next year if it’s in the top 12, in 2014 if it’s in the top 10, in 2015 if it’s in the top 8 and in 2016 it’ll be unprotected.
In my dream scenario, Jabari Parker stays in college until his junior year, then declares for the 2016 NBA Draft, where the Bulls win the lottery thanks to the Bobcats’ pick.
The Bulls take Parker and pair him with (by then) 27 year old fellow Simeon alumni Derrick Rose.
    Epic dopeness would ensue…
Soop is still on that Bleacher Report struggle I see…
Also kinda sad that I started to type in “soup” the other day on my iPhone and it kept trying to autocorrect to sooperfadeaway…

Mild compared to some of those before him. But I’m gla I have made an impact on your iPhones autospell system lmao

27, I feel that’d be his prime. But damn I got all excited thinking Rose & Davis, the Chicago duo. Well I think it’d be dope if Rivers declares for Draft in the hopes that the Celtics pick him up but instead the Bulls do lol. nbk I’m not arguing with you bum, but continuously stating who you would sign with or not implies you want to be traded, accepting the fact that the Magic are a choice for re-signing but the direct implication being he is willing to be traded. Now argue with the wall & tell fairy tales most likely beginning with “Once Upon A Time on Slam..”.

WoW so you just type words without havin any clue if they are accurate. Nice

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeLRym4Q-pg Allenp

I think everybody knows Dwight wants a trade because that means he doesn’t lose $30 million.
But he hasn’t demanded one through the media, which was the point. It was reported through “sources” he wanted a trade. I think at first he didn’t want to comment, then he did confirm it.
Anyway, I agree that it seems like he’s been a douche because so many comments have been attributed to him as far as where he wants to play. But to be fair, he’s never said those things. He’s never given the media a list, or brought up another team. He has even asked for the discussions to cease, and only commented to correct certain points.
It seems like he’s being a punk until you actually read the stories and see that people are attributing motives to Dwight based solely on anonymous sources. Those sources may be correct but it’s unfair to blame Dwight for what anonymous sources say.

  • Red

Thing is though, it is accurate and that is what you said.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Really Allen. You make me argue for 3 days before you just lay it out like I clearly don’t have the ability to do. You SOB lol

  • shutup

@allenp that wasnt the point thats not how this discussion started, nbk stated that Dwights agent would disclose this to the media without dwights knowledge or consent and he argued that dwight never demanded/requested a trade that it was just rumors. but of course what he does is try to flip the argument to some moot point that has no bearing on the overall issue of Dwight not being able to keep his mouth shut, and honestly I could care less where he ends up, the thing I most have a problem with is 1)his inability or lack of effort to improve his offensive game,2) his lack of leadership or loyalty to his teammates(displayed by releasing conversations behind close doors to media members)

  • shutup

also I’m confused are you trying to say that the quotes attributed to him in numerous publications are in fact not true? because his “wishlist ” of teams is clearly documented on several publications as well as him admitting to calling out his teammates (which there is nothing wrong with as long as it stays in the locker room)

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Dwight’s agent being an anonymous source is part of the argument that you picked. I only stated the process of how information is leaked because YOU kept saying Dwight was talking about trades and whining to the MEDIA which is completely false. But whatever makes you feel like you won your battle.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Do you not know what a quote is?

  • Fletch213

@nbk your point was too valid sir! Is it that hard to understand that “sources” is so bloody vague. How many times have we seen “reliable sources say…..” and the trade or rumour has never come into fruition. Direct quote from person or GTFO!!

this is from dec from espn “Howard said Thursday that his trade request hasn’t been withdrawn, a day after Magic general manager Otis Smith shook off questions about what offers he’d received and said that trade discussions involving him “could go to the end of the season.” thats a direct quote

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Thats as much as you can find? He confirmed his trade request? That’s bitching and whining about getting traded to the media? LMAO! You win.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Thats as much as you can find? He confirmed his trade request? That’s b*tching and whining about getting traded to the media? LMAO! You win.

  • shutup

@nbk no it isnt I said his agent wouldnt act without consulting his client, that Dwight would have to okay it to be released to the media if it is in fact that his agent released anonymously. And as long as you agree that he did in fact request a trade, I dont see what your point is.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

That’s you talking out of your ass. An anonymous source is anonymous. There is no way for Dwight to know if it even was his agent. The Magic are just as likely to release the news anonymously as his agent. For the reasons I have outlined to you already. Twice. Then you say, “the Magic denied that he wanted a trade so it wasn’t them obviously” and his agent has to “ask him permission” so in tirn Dwight’s “starting drama” – illustrating that you still after 3 days don’t understand what an anonymous source is. Like a merry-go-round of ignorance. smh.

  • Help

Rose and Howard would be a disaster, miami all the way!

  • shutup

omg i was just trying to prove his trade request was confirmed by howard to the media. His b!tching and whining like i said for the umpteenth time is about calling his teammates out through the media (thus throwing them under the bus)as well as his continued expressions of desires to play elsewhere, or his openness to the idea of playing elsewhere, whether it be in NJ,LA or Boston, and now his openness to playing in chicago alongside d.rose

  • shutup

its not anonymous if its attributed to Otis Smith and then is confirmed by Dwight. Anonymity is when it cant be credited to someone you moron. And once again Dwights agent wouldnt risk releasing it if it was against Dwights wishes, because then Dwight would have grounds to fire him and replace him with the countless other agents.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

What openness? HE has never stated the desire to play for any team Not New Jersey, LA, or Chi to the media. Ever. You misconstruing Dwights words, which are no different then Derrick Rose’s right here, except Dwight ridiculously brought God into his quote, which is an irrelevant part of this whole thing, is why your so angry. He has never for the millionth time, talked about any desire to be traded to the media, aside from confirming a trade request. Do you understand? Your inability to read is the problem.

  • Lebron 4 lyf!

@nbk your statemnt makes no sense, you are literally not making any sense, go back to where you belong, a championship!

  • shutup

He has stated that he was open to the idea of playing for said teams so whats the difference? So confirming his trade request isnt enough to count as talking about being traded? what are you smoking? and you carefully avoid touching on the subject of him calling his team out in the media

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

What the f*ck his trade request isn’t anonymous. That is widely publicized. Otis Smith works for the Magic right? So the Magic are the ones “starting drama” right? All Dwight did was confirm his request. Obviously in terms of anonymity, the trade request was not included. Why do I have to state the obvious? I figured you are smart enough to discern the difference between a confirmed trade request and the influx of rumors from sources that are actually causing all this drama. And it seems that’s where the mistake lies. When he confirmed a trade report that’s all he did, he answered a question. When the Clippers were added to his “wish list” that came from a source, which is either the Magic or his Agent. If it was his agent he did it for the benefit of his client, he is a professional agent, those decisions are the ones he is hired to make. If he had to ask Dwight permission to leak information anonymously or not then there would be no point to his job. As Dwight would be acting as his own agent.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

And the calling his team out in the media is a moot point. Your version of “throwing his team under the bus” is my version of giving an observation on how his team played. Basically, I dot take criticism like I’m full of estrogen. While you react to criticism that isn’t even directed at you like a little girl.

  • shutup

you stated his trade request would be released anonymous to get more teams interested, and just because Dwight has to sign off on something doesnt mean he would want to do it himself. and in fact even if his agent wanted it released , he would probably have a PR person do it. and Dwight has been quoted, directly about being open to play in several cities. keep twisting and squirming on irrelevant facts and avoid my main points. I really dont give a f$ck about where he thinks it may be nice to play, whether playing in chicago would be a good fit or he likes how Boston runs it organization, my main issue is with him not knowing when to say no comment or just plain old keep his mouth shut. Things between him and teammates and his coach should stay just that, but it is him who is quoted telling the media how he chastised his teammates and how he and his coach need to communicate better. Its a b!tch move, what goes on in the locker room should stay in the locker room.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Yada yada. They did. His trade request was released to the media anonymously before it was confirmed by Otis smith. And confirmed again by Dwight. His list was released anonymously first. His agents permission to talk to teams was reportedly anonymously (and not accurately)……Get the trend?
    .
    .
And again the rest is just semantics based on how sensitive you are.

  • shutup

Your trying to say he wasnt a whiny b!tch, but yet admit he gives “observations” which have been negative, can we agree on that? and thus if he is giving defamatory or derogatory comments to the press about his teammates, he is thus throwing his team under the bus. I’m sorry if i appreciate good teamwork, good team spirit and leadership in sports figures. and muthaf$KKa why wouldnt i have an opinion on what happens in the nba, isnt that what this site is for?

  • shutup

you keep talking about this trade sh!t idc, it turned out to be corroborated, it was true. Just like his agent being allowed to talk to teams. here is a quote “In another twist, Magic GM Otis Smith told ESPN the Magazine on Friday night that he did grant permission to Fegan to speak with the Nets about a possible Howard deal.” not anonymous and corroborated by Fegans comment to Yahoo sports. go get a spatula and get the egg off yo face, go spit that rhetoric to someone else.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

I have been on a lot of sports teams in my life. Never have I been offended when I hear a teammate tell someone exactly what my team needs to do to get better or to improve on what we just did. Even if it were to a journalist And that is how I feel about what Dwight said. His criticism was constructive. He pointed out clear flaws in the team and the way they were playing. He singled nobody out. And never gave any indication that he thought it was pointless. So I don’t find anything wrong with what Dwight has said during all of this scrutiny. Infact, i feel that if the Magic were struggling without any trade rumors, his criticism of his teammates would not even be newsworthy. and I find anybody that does make a big deal out of what he said to be overly sensitive. If that’s not clear.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Things come out anonymously and them they are confirmed, in that order. And you just gave me a quote from an article I posted yesterday, which showed you a chain of events that proved how the news was released, and that it wasn’t Howard who started all this drama. was that supposed to support your argument?

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

You have egg for a brain. You still don’t understand how anonymous sources work? You don’t get that news of Fegan meeting with the nets was released days before it was actually confirmed? You can’t be this stupid can you?

  • shutup

why do i care when it was confirmed, obv it was confirmed before i posted about it. so how did you feel about TO commenting on Romo, was that perfectly ok too? and as for this whole anonymous source issue you insistingly wanna talk about dumba$$ once an anonymous source is found out or can be attributed to someone it ceases to be anonymous. I always loved that quote “I am just an egg” so thanks for the compliment

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com Enigmatic

I miss the days of typing up long ass comment after long ass comment without worrying bout whether they’d post or having to type it on a tiny iPhone screen.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Well considering the news of Feagan meeting with the Nets also included Dwight, the “source” remains anonymous. Understand? And TO singled out Romo. He didn’t talk about the team as a whole. Which is all Dwight has done – see the difference?

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Enig, if you do it from an iPhone you can press back and it will still be there.

  • shutup

fegan was quoted as saying he and dwight had a phone conversation with the nets. so no i dont understand what your trying to prove. I think its worse if you call out the whole team, to the media. This should be an internal thing, not something that should be aired out in public.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

No he was quoted saying “he had an interview with the nets. Dwight taking part in any such conversation would be tampering.” – your misquoting. And ignorant.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

And like I said. Him calling out his wholes teams obvious issues and your b*tching about it is an expression of how you feel. Which I find to be overly sensitive over nothing significant. I don’t understand what you don’t get about that, I thought I stated it 3 times. Oh nevermind, you don’t understand anything.

  • shutup

Chris Mannix, Ric Bucher and Adrian Wojnarowski all reported that agent Dan Fegan told them the Magic have given Howard permission to speak with three teams, the Nets, Lakers and Mavericks, about a possible trade. not anonymous sources.
Fegan tells Wojnarowski that Howard “did not attend a meeting with Nets officials” and tells Mannix that “reports of possible tampering are undeniably false.” He does admit to Bucher that there was a phone conversation involving the Nets and Howard. GO TO BED, BETTER LUCK TOMORROW

  • shutup

oh i understand what a good teammate is and what a diva-ish cancer in the locker room is, obv I know what side of the equation you fall under.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

And if you haven’t noticed, I don’t try and claim I win an argument, I don’t feel it’s necessary. Doing that shows me that your worried about being judged. But that’s cute your so insecure.

  • http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1042551-dwight-howard-is-wrong-to-call-out-teammates-after-losses shutup

this is from the article you can see by clicking my name
“The only thing wrong about Howard calling out his teammates is that he did it publicly. The team is obviously in a mental fragile state of mind during this tough week. Plus, he has enough drama to deal with between the trade demand and reported request for a replacement for current starting point guard Jameer Nelson.

It is fine for players to express themselves, but they must be mindful of what they say publicly. Dwight was right for what he said; he just has to say privately in the locker room.”

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

“I read reports today of a meeting between Dwight Howard, his representatives and the New Jersey Nets, which claimed, according to the story’s ‘anonymous sources’ that such a meeting violated the NBA’s tampering policies,” Fegan wrote. “This story is clearly inaccurate with respect to tampering claims and other facts. Tampering doesn’t apply once a team grants permission for a player and/or his representatives to make contact with another team.
“The Magic have given us permission to have contact with several teams in order for Dwight to explore his options. I most definitely had contact with the teams I was granted permission. Since we had permission to have contact with several teams the report of possible tampering is undeniably false.”
The saga only grew more strange after Fegan released his statement, as Magic vice president of communications Joel Glass told SI.com that Fegan, though not Howard, would be permitted to discuss trades with the Lakers, Mavericks and Nets. Glass made it clear that the permission was given “going forward” and had not been granted previously.
Earlier in the day, Martins had been more general in his comments to reporters in Orlando. “There aren’t any tampering charges,” he said. “Dwight is under contract with us and our rules in the league are very explicit about when a player is under contract with a team other teams aren’t allowed to contact that player or a representative about them. … If that’s been voided in any way we’ll deal with it to the fullest extent that the NBA’s Constitution allows.”
Howard denied the allegation in an interview with ESPN.com on Friday. “There was no meeting,” he said. “Right now, my plan is to show up to training camp for the Orlando Magic.”

NBK, I really do believe you are blind to everything that’s out there. You are basically saying that EVERYONE is making up these stories and Dwight isn’t saying anything? Didn’t Craig Sager have an interview with him earlier in the year and he kept calling him out on his contradictory statements? I understand you are a fan of his but to just blatantly disregard everything that’s out there and say “We’re being too sensitive”, “It’s not affecting the Magic players” when it CLEARLY is affecting them makes you look dumb to be honest.

You also still don’t seem to get that just because the things Howard is saying about his team are true that it’s OK to do. It’s not! I believe I’ve said this three times now so I don’t understand why it isn’t sinking in. Or maybe you’re one of the 2% that think it’s not being a bad teammate to say these things publicly. I don’t know

Hi there, long-time slam-online observer (basically from the start) and i just want to say one thing: Its funny how NBK is now the Mr.Knowitall of this site. I remember a few years back when he first showed up, talking all crazy and everyone else would just ignore him or treat him like a kid. Now though, he is everywhere, acts like he knows everything, talks like he knows everything and is very disrespectful to anyone that is not agreeing with him. Its funny, really……… Or not, man, i miss the days of russ bengstson and myles brown!! Now we have NBK as the commentors king….. dear lord!

  • hillbilly

@backboard Like Eboy before him, NBK is one of those hopeless, basement dwelling types who only feels “alive” when he’s picking a cyberfight with someone or anonymously trashing people on this site. Now that Eboy’s no longer around to spout his peculiar blend of inflammatory gibberish & thinly-veiled racism, we’re left with the daily dumbassery of NBK. All hail the new King ‘Tard of Slam online! Huzzah!!!

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Justin, I have never said the Dwight drama isn’t affecting the players. I said what Dwight has been saying, with his words, is not what is bothering the team. The media attention and uncertainties about if they will still be Magic players in a couple months is definitely affecting them however. As for what Backboard and Hillbilly wrote, you clearly don’t understand the history behind me and shutup and the vitriol he has aimed at me in the past. Other then that I am not rude to people for just giving their opinion, and I am not picking arguments. This right here is the third page for the third day in a row shutup has picked an argument with me a d then revisited topics I have already explained to him. Like I’m about to do now. Woj and butcher are reporters shutup, yes. Does that make everything they write completely accurate? No. All of the columns in question are centered around the statements Dan Fegan made in the comment I posted above. He never says Howard was on the phone with the Mets, he clearly says “I most definitely had contacts with the teams I was given permission to speak too” – saying Howard took part in that conversation is speculation, in the least. Idk why your so stuck on that part of all of this. Dwight wants to be traded. Dwight isn’t talking about it too the media. Dwight isn’t the one spreading rumors. And that is all I have been saying.
