LeBron James Says He Relates to Tim Tebow

Say what you’d like about Tim Tebow, and say what you’d like about LeBron James, but there’s no doubt that both understand what it takes to handle an insane, overwhelming amount of media coverage. So it isn’t much of a surprise that with the Broncos big game against the Patriots coming up, Bron was asked about the rookie quarterback, and he told FOX Sports Florida that he relates to the kid: “Could LeBron James get out of Denver without talking about Tim Tebow? Not a chance. James, the Miami Heat star forward in town for Friday night’s game against the Nuggets, was asked about Tebow both after a Thursday workout and following a shootaround Friday. He sees some similarities between himself and the Denver Broncos quarterback, who has had success despite often hearing criticism. ‘Honestly, I’ve been paying attention to Tebow all year even while I was watching the Cowboys,’ James said Friday, referring to his favorite NFL team. ‘So I love to see what a guy can do when his back is up against the wall, when everybody counts him out.’ James says he’s in the “same boat” as Tebow, whose Broncos play at New England Saturday in an AFC divisional playoff. He’s not necessarily talking about talent, but about scrutiny. ‘I can relate to him a lot,’ said James, who like Tebow, is one of the most talked-about athletes anywhere. ‘I see how the media plays it sometimes and how the critics go at him and to see him continue to prove them wrong. If it’s a good game or a bad game on his part, he continues to stay positive and move forward. And that’s a great sign. It’s a great leader. You respect that no matter if you’re in that same sport or not.’”

If I ever see LeBron James ‘Tebow’ I will know the apocalype is near lol

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

You respect him and compare him to you because you’re impressed with what he does when his “back is against the wall”? Because you’ve always performed so well in clutch situations. Stupid comparison.

is it just me or does lebron sound conceited here, talkin about how he can relate because people never stop talking about him? and thats a good one albZ!!! and JTaylor, why are you a tebow hater? i dont see why anyone has any reason to hate, except for the religious aspect, but if you believe in god then how could you not want to spread the word? if you believe that non believers are going to hell and dont try to help them you arent a good christian. i dont see why him kneeling makes anyone mad and if you dont want to here him talk then dont watch him being interviewed. its a free country and you can change the channel and he can say what he wants, just like you can here

    ^hear*

  • james aka…

They are almost the polar opposite of each other. Tebow succeeds in spite of substandard skills at his position, and shines brightest at the end of the game with the pressure on. LeBron is an all time physical great who has had success in the clutch but seems to becoming less clutch over time. The media speculation is almost literally the only point of similarity.

  • lisa

No comparison at all. I respect both of these men, but they are polar oppisites. LeBron just needs to shut up now.

    *opposites

So he loves being a villain so much….that he is desperately looking for company to take the pressure away from him. He can’t even be alone in his hatred, he needs a buddy to help him!

Say what you like about the best, but they turn the vitriol against them as a personal attack and go to prove the naysayers wrong. This chump? Is trying to make out it is the fault of the media, and that he is just another ‘victim’.

I am not a Lebron fan or a Kobe fan, but you have to admire Bryant for stepping up and demolishing his critics himself, not whimpering about how they treat other stars like him.

I dislike him because the clown can not even complete 50% of his passes yet the media talks about dude like he’s the second coming of Joe Montana. During that Den/Mia, all they kept on talking about was tebow this, tebow that and showing tebow jerseys. Shows you just how far sports reporting has fallen when a bum like tebow is the most talked-about athlete.

^^I feel that… Willis McGahee is the real beast on that team… and they really should have been talking more about the Cam Newton show all year… QB rushing td record rookie year.

    Tebow is a winner.
Nothing else matters. He wins. That is what is important, no?
    Forget about statistics.
    Forget about everything.
    Except wins.

Co-sign JTaylor, I just don’t like how Tebow gets all the credit for what are entirely team wins. People don’t even talk about prater, or how great their defense has been playing, and they really don’t give enough credit to McGahee. I don’t really hate tebow, I guess I just hate the media.

  • meloman2.0

What? this makes no sense… Tebow is the complete opposite. Bad in every quarter except the forth

  • kz

    tebow isnt a rookie

  • The Truther

    james aka is 100% right!

  • KING

Tebow delivers in the clutch. lebron doesn’t. end of story.

  • j-nuggz

JTaylor…. I can respect your hate now, its just most people hate him cause religion, but his stats are horrible. i am a fan though, i hope he makes tom brady cry tonight

    @JTaylor…blame ESPN

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Tebow is very overrated and people hate him because he sucks as a qb. I remember players like Charlie Ward and others not get their just due in NFL, because teams would not want to create a system around them. But a white qb, who professes his faith out loud-no problem with it, can’t pass better than Brady Quinn-his back up, but gets love like he is Micheal Jordan’s love child. I blame ESPN, Skip Bayless, his haters and Florida football team for this. I remember Chris Leak won the 1st title for Florida as the starting qb and he did not get shot in NFL and now Tebow won that championship as the qb now. Tebow does get hated on, but at least Lebron has stats to back up his skills. Tebow comes through in 4th qtr, because of their great defense. WILLIS the real MVP-running back and WR’s who catch bad passes and still are able to make something after the catch. BOOK IT!!!

  • All Day

^^agreed. Don’t hate on Tebow…hate on ESPN for all the nonstop Tebow talk. All ESPN does is talk about Tebow. You can’t fault Tebow for that.

  • shutup

So all the Tebow hype pisses people off but I’m the only one offended with the Rubio hype, smh. Tebow isnt overated, all the news coverage is kind of insulting, I havent seen one report that doesnt include a some sort of slight, every compliment is paired with an insult. If people cant see the comparison between Tebow and Lebron then your very short sighted, both are the most hated players in their sport, Tebow for overachieving and Lebron for the opposite. The media has both players under a microscope and every thing they do is magnified and dissected, point and case, Lebron makes a comparison and it becomes a headline @ slamonline and out of 28 comments so far 90% are of people hating lebron or tebow or both.

Lebron: “I relate to Tim Tebow because I know what it feels like to be THE CHOSEN ONE”

  • matt

tebow just got blown the f out today. I guess you could put lebron and tebow in the same sentence, both get their asses handed to them in the playoffs

  • AQWORD

^^ Until they win & (unts like yall will head back under the rock. REPTILES ! Props to the Seed.

  • robb

Stupid comparison. Tebow is an untalented but gutsy player who plays his best at the end. James is an übertalented player who disappears when it matter most of the times. And you are a Cowboys fan Lebron? Lame.

  • http://www.t-mac.com/tmac/index unf*ckwitable

Lebron wishes he could get it done in the clutch like Tebow does. Honestly i dont see any similarities at all.
