Polladaday: One Star to Start a Franchise?

This exact question was asked in the NBA GM survey, and now we’re bringing it here so you can weigh in. You’re starting a fresh team—who’s your first pick?

If you were starting a franchise and could sign any player, who would it be?

    No Kobe?

    List invalid.

  • @blac_jeebus

    Lebron cant close games
Wade is good but over rated
Durant doesn’t know how to lead against Westbrook (who’s team is it really?)
    Howard good pick
    Rose also good pick
Kobe (when healthy), is the franchise guy.

  • kweloper

    Austin Rivers

  • logues

  • alejandro duran

    i would acquire Michael Jordan

  • LA Huey

While in Boston, Thibs actually developed his defense schemes in response to Scalabrine’s dominance in practice.

LBJ is no good. You can’t count him on when you need him the most. Not consistent. During the lockout, he should have join the football ball team. To answer the question, I will choose Dirk Nowitzki. I truly Salute that man. ^^

I hate seeing D.wade on these type of polls cause I know he’s going to be last. He’s just as good as everybody on the list but he’s 4-9 years older than everybody. You gotta go with the hot whippersnappers!

  • DeeDre

Durant. He’s had the most consistent growth out of all players in the list IMO and he really wants to win. It would be interesting to build around Rondo as well. I swear that’s not a biased opinion

  • Otero

All good players but It’s either Dwight or Lebron…….dummies

LeBron – He puts bums on seats, garners INTERNATIONAL attention and is the face of the NBA. If I wanted to start a franchise, I’d want someone who can earn me some money.

  • YOLO

gained six makes alot more sense, since he did win 6 championships.

  • YotBull

    lol off topic ^^

  • BigMoney

IT WOULD BE THE BEST ALL AROUND UNSTOPPABLE OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE GAME; CARMELO ANTHONY!!!!!!! Who Else Can Compare. And whoever the idiot who made the poll should have hands down added him.

  • Mike Jones

Carmelo Anthony now, if any player in their prime Allen the answer Iverson

  • unrel

for this list (besides other).. it’s bron.. hands down.. he stuffs the stats and can average the triple double.. he doesn’t have to take the last shot.. he can dominate with a little more work.. just think.. who would you draft if you had the first pick in fantasy ball?.. i’d go with bron.. 7-8 stat cat guy

This one is obvious, I am by no means a magic fan but in order to win championships in this league you need a capable big man to win it with. Look at the past championships, in fact look at this past decade… it was a decade where Tim Duncan and shaq were present in the majority of the finals, and the years they were not there was another team with a all star big man. Dwight is the obvious choice here, this is not a question of who is the best player or.most athletic, its a question of who would win you a championship.

  • Yesse

Probably KD. Kobe would be too old for a new franchise and LeBron is a great player, but i would rather build around KD.

    Tyreke Evans

I’d take one of the three players that have led their own team to the Finals. And of those three, I’d take one of the two under 30. And of those two, it doesn’t matter. So, for those of you who don’t follow, either LeBron or Dwight. To the people saying Durant, justify taking a scoring small forward over an all-time great talent in LeBron. Cause Durant is not an all-time talent.

  • Ryan D.

    The White Mamba Brian Scalabrine.

  • Kenn

Ricky Rubio! Because…………….. There are so many reasons why, if you already watched him play you will know it.
If MJ the G.O.A.T is still playing I would choose him.

  • $$Ca$hmoney$$

    Kobe B. is the guy!!!!
