Polladaday: Trouble in NYC?

The Knicks have gotten off to a less than stellar start to the season. Why?

Who's to blame for the Knicks' struggles?

James Dolan. This shouldn’t even be a question.

  • RunNGun

Agreed w/NBK. It’s James Dolan. Though we might differ on this view, “firing” WALSH and trading for MELO were the first steps in the WRONG DIRECTION.

They need a point guard who can create n set up shots for amare n melo in an efficient manner. Hopefully that can be baron davis. In my opinion, dantonis system will never win a championship. Defense at the end of the day, always wins championships. They do have the talent to win but not the system.

Dolan first, but if we want to point fingers about RIGHT NOW, it’s gotta be Pringles.

    Other: Dolan.

    Dolan.

Dolan. They had a good team then they went for a marketing pitch. key pieces, scorers, a good point guard, bench, they traded that all away for a player who creates a stagnant offense. Melo cant fill the role of (felton, chandler, and gallinari) no matter how much he scores.

  • nyos

The “coach” and they should trade amare with KG

  • Ellis Giaz

The Knicks do not have a true point guard. Iman Shumpert is a shooting guard he can not pass the ball, he is not that type of player and Tony Douglas wants to come from the bench. Mike Bibby does not have the stamina in his age to lead the Knicks.

D’Antoni + A’mare + Melo = NO D, or even a semblance of it, nor rebounding for that matter. Did they think Chandler was going to come hold guys accountable for defensive lapses? He ain’t no KG & dallas was a veteran team & that’s why they let him go!

ALL OF THE ABOVE, as well as their dumb owner and their naieve and overenthusiastic fans.

  • RunNGun

D’Antoni is the right coach IMO, but outside of STAT and CHANDLER, he doesn’t have the right pieces (like MELO) and he doesn’t have a point guard. I hear MN has a gazilion point guards that are attainable not named Ricky Rubio.

these guys dont know how to “jel” together as a team. any team with any players “jelling” together will become a top team. knicks need to learn that and i think the whole team is to blame^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • jone

management… the should have never traded away chandler, felton and gallanari… the team was fine until that trade.

MANAGEMENT (Dolan)…Dantoni’s play style is run and gun how can you do that without a passing point guard. Dolan gave away a NBA finals MVP point guard in chauncey for a center.

    Knicks current Playbook:
Give the ball to Melo, press right on the directional pad, then press X (iso)

Lol nice 2k reference. Nobody is to blame, they have enough talent to figure it out and at least be a 500. Team. Now, to improve .. get a true pg, if b diddy doesn’t come thru than find one asap.

  • Zoom

I agree everything ,but they need to get Amar’e more involved! He’s a great player being put to waste.

  • bobbyD

All of the above and Chandler too. He cost too much both in financial terms and the loss of a true point guard (Billups).

  • random

Melo is an easy scapegoat, it’s all of the above

  • Joe

Management! Melo and Amare worst pairing ever. Both great scorers in their own right but together?! SMDH

Melo did best with 2009 Nugs when he had a bunch of shooters (Gallinari woulda been perfect with him), a strong pg (felton woulda been great) and some tough rebounders….everyone is gonna blast me here and tell me well duh knicks had to trade something for him…NO! If Melo wasn’t greedy (demanding max) he coulda signed for less as a FA. This woulda allowed the knicks to keep their core.

Ok lets go another route, say Melo had taken less on his extension after the trade, well then the knicks coulda been a major player in free agency this summer!

I guess to be fair I could go back to Amare too and say he coulda taken less as well. He claimed to want to open the door for other stars to come to NY but took up way too much $ to let that happen!

    Bottomline is

    1. If you commit to STAT build around his strengths get him a strong big (props for chandler), a pick and roll pg (missing) and floor spacers that keep the ball moving. Oh wait they HAD that before the Melo trade.

    2. I don’t buy these players saying all they want is to win, if so they would take less than the max to allow teams to actually build legit supporting pieces around them.

    Blast away folks

  • IamHonestNow

Drafting Fredric Weis and not drafting Brandon Jennings. I blame them not drafting Ron Artest and Lamar Odom. Walter McCarty SUCKED! The Knicks never make good draft picks.
