Report: Kobe Bryant’s Wife Getting $75 Million in Divorce Settlement

News of the Kobe and Vanessa divorce broke last month, and now we’re hearing that the Lakers’ superstar will have to shell out something like $75 million, while also giving up his rights to some very valuable property assets: “Sources connected to the couple and with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ … the property settlement agreement is signed, sealed and delivered — a done deal. Vanessa is walking away with $75 million, which we’re told represents close to half of their total assets, estimated at around $150 million … It turns out, based on the property settlement, Vanessa scored a clean sweep, snagging all three of the former couple’s mansions in the Newport Beach area. Vanessa gets the estate the couple was living in, the estate her mom is living in, and she gets the new estate that had been under construction for 2 years and was just completed.”

Nobody’s saying she deserves it? Sh!t, I am. Good for her.
Let’s get something straight: nobody should be making $30 million+ a year for playing basketball, or even being involved in basketball, and that includes the billionaire schmuck owners and front office executives, etc. So we have capitalism to thank for that. (Still I’d rather the players make that money than the owners).
We live in a society where it’s possible to make billions of dollars by simply “investing capital.” In fact, that’s how the richest people earn their living, all the while producing nothing.
Then we have millionaires who put balls in hoops and holes (GOLF… yuck), sing/dance in sh!tty music videos, and star in terrible “romantic comedies” or worse, so-called reality TV. When all of this goes on, how is it at all surprising that someone makes $75 million via divorce?

Teddy, you are the man for that perspective.

Um Kobes fault all the way. He got married, cheated, and is now paying the price. Either keep your sh!t in your pants when your married, or do not get married. If he picked either option he’d be 75 mil richer.

drake was wrong, his n*gga only lost 75Ms…

It’s a freaking settlement. There is no legal cap to a mutually agreed sum.

And, to those blaming Kobe for his indiscretions, trust me. I bet Vanessa waited for the best opportunity to divorce Bryant and ensuring the greatest profit for her.

+1 to Fat Lever. -1 to 99% of this thread.

I don’t think the money should bother Kobe. He’s so rich that he shouldn’t have to stress about money. According to some study, people who make 75,000 a year are as happy as billionaires. Cause you don’t really need that money to buy something crazy to make you happy, all you really need money for is not stressing about money.
The whole lockout thing goes to show you tho how some people are just really obsessed about money. Same goes for listening to republicans talk.

Vanessa Bryant Making more in one year than Kevin Love is being offered for 4. . -___- sad. . but real talk. . .Kobe was unloyal to his wife, kobe didn’t have a prenup, kobe pays the price. .

Kobe already served his punishment by getting that tattoo.

Anyone who lives with Kobe for 10 years deserves millions.

    @Teddy – Entirely.
@bike, way up at the top – I’m intrigued that you sat down and worked those numbers out.

I think the whole divorce settlement system needs to be overhauled. Not for millionaires like Kobe, but for working class dudes that lose half to divorce everyday. I just don’t think its fair. It’s not only cheating dudes that get taken. I work in the transfer department of a brokerage firm and it makes me cringe every time I have to slice up some poor schmucks retirement account and deliver it to his ex wife.

It’s not like Kobe’s going to be hurting for money. The fact that half of his assets included $75M and 3 estates suggests he still has the equivalent left.

Can’t replace relationships, family, or children though. Those are priceless.

Anyone who thinks that what is happening here and what is happening to Kobe is fair, than you’re a complete moron. This trick, and trust me that’s all she is, was nothing but a child with a dime a dozen hollywood dream. She rode this guy all the way to the top and is taking away more from this than she would have ever made doing anything else. So don’t tell me about missing out on other career opportunities. Marrying Kobe was a CAREER OPPORTUNITY she knew it then and she’s cashing in now. This has nothing to do with basketball, but things like this disgust me.
