Report: Yi Jianlian to Become a Mav


ESPN is reporting that Yi Jianlian will suit up for the Mavericks once he’s recovered from a knee injury recently suffered in China: “The Dallas Mavericks are about to sign a player they’ve long coveted, reaching terms Saturday on a one-year contract with free-agent forward Yi Jianlian, according to sources with knowledge of the deal. The contract is likely to be finalized within the next 48 hours, sources said.”

    Yi isn’t really Tyson Chandler though. Then again Yi is a poor mans Dirk and he could def pick-up a few tips from the Diggler himself.

    Fantastic pick up, Yi can shoot, hes the go to guy in China, they can run him at the 4, Vince at the 3, Dirk can play as a 5 but do whatever he wants.. be nice if he wanted to rebound.

    Mavericks going to absolutely suck this year on defensive end, thus resulting in a lottery-type year. They’ve lost too much mental toughness. Butler, Stevenson, and Chandler. They the assholes you need to have a balanced and highly skilled team. They got less toughness in return. Carter, Odom, and now Yi. I don’t have a problem
    With mavericks. They beat the Lakers fair and square. I’m a Lakers supporter, too. I have no problem losing to better team. Honestly, the Mavericks took two steps back replacing 3 tough minded, defensive scrappers that can play hoops with 3 other weak-minded, defensively, challenged (Odom is okay, though), highly skilled players. They just need live 7footers that can at least be active, I guess. Yi is a lottery bust going from team to team. Too big and too skilled, but soft.
