Are Duncan, Smith, Jennings All-Star Snubs?

According to Total Player Value, a website that attempts to evaluate the financial worth of NBA players, Tim Duncan, Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings were All-Star snubs. What do you think? From TPV:  ”TPV has three adjustments to the rosters released last night. Tim Duncan rates over Dirk Nowitzki for a West backup frontcourt slot. In the East, Josh Smith grades ahead of starting forward Carmelo Anthony, who does not rate as a reserve. Brandon Jennings rates over Deron Williams as a backcourt reserve.  The rosters are still subject to change, based on injuries which may occur in the next two weeks. In the East, TPV rates Josh Smith as a starting forward over Carmelo Anthony, who was selected by a fan vote. Smith is grading at a $ 15.7 million player value, higher than his teammate and All-Star reserve Joe Johnson at $ 12.2, and well ahead of Anthony’s $ 12.0. Jennings  is grading at $ 11.9 million, clearly ahead of Williams’ $ 9.7 rating. He is slightly behind Anthony, but the selection process requires four guards for each team. Milwaukee’s third-year point guard is averaging 18.9 points and 5.3 assists for an 11-14 team, and has played in all 25 games. He has also been instrumental in both of his team’s upset wins over Miami.”

And Monta should be there instead of Nash, no hate on Nash though, Monta’s just a better player this season.

I agree that Josh Smith deserves to be an all-star(more so than many players chosen), but how can you say Dirk doesn’t deserve to be an all-star? He’s had a down year due to it being a short season and a knee injury but he gets a pass since after tonight(he scored 11 of his 22 in the final 6 minutes to beat the Clippers.) Even though he’s having a down year, he’s now scoring 18.5 ppg while the Mavs are 18-11. By the end of the season, Dirk will scoring 22 or 23 easily while the past 3 nights he’s beaten the 3 power forwards who are also all-stars(outplaying two while hitting the biggest shot against Portland during a rough night.)

Ellis isn’t having a better season than Nash… one guy is averaging 14.3 ppg but taking just 10 shots a game while shooting 56 percent and leading the league in assists at 10.5 per game. Ellis has more talent around him but doesn’t shoot as well or get the assists Nash does, how is that? And while Dirk isn’t having a typical season he’s still deserving because of who he is and the fact that he’s coming around now. Plus there aren’t any guys like Aldridge who didn’t make the team because of him. Don’t say Millsap or Duncan is more deserving(look at their numbers)or how Millsap always plays like crap in the second half.
