  I think this is a tad different from Mamba. Though the Lakers ship is sailing on rough waters, it aint sinking like the Nets. It’s about priorities. If a player’s team sucks (especially a player of Deron’s caliber), you should only have two focuses righting the ship and taking care of your family. No time for leisure when you got big dreams and stuck in a nightmare.

  But I guess the reason why people ask this is because anything with Lins name on it sells their papers, magazines, tv station etc. And helps market the NBA ie when Lebron and the heat beat the pacers and was asked about jeremy lins game winner (and receiding hairline). Totally irrelevant to the teams win. No one raved about Kobes or Chris Pauls game winners.

  I hate reporters asking other players about Lin for no reason, but I also hate people blaming Lin for the media hyping him up. Dude is just going out there and playing ball, he isn’t calling reporters to come follow him right after.

I get that people want the opinion of the elite players, but what do they care and should they care about someone who isn’t on their team?   Williams was tired of being asked about Lin by the beat writers, he wasn’t trying to dis Lin. It’s not surprising to see SLAM trying to create fake news, your sh!tty magazine hasn’t been credible for years now. Instead of trying to generate bootleg controversy, why not spend time chasing after some 8th grader and proclaiming him to be the next god of basketball like you guys used to do back in the day?

  The media hype around Lin is smothering news about the rest of the league. It’s really starting to turn off hardcore NBA fans who would be otherwise rooting for the guy. But don’t hate Lin for it — its the media that creates this hype. The same writers that are calling him a “possible all-star” and a “legendary” point guard are the ones that are going to be calling him a bust or a fraud when he has a bad game.

  i will give credit to lin for being better then some of the scrubs (except the lakers) he is playing against. dont get to exicted yeah. new jersey,utah,washington,la lakers,minnesota,toronto. 3 of these teams have not even reached double-digit victories. one is barely 500 and another is a double-digit win team one game under 500. iam so looking foward when lin plays hardcore defenses and see how he does.

  NBA’s Tebow, kind of dumb. Wouldn’t be nearly as much hype if he weren’t asian. I think he is a good player that has a lot of upside due to his lack of years and experience, but nothing to drool over, I can name at least 12 gurads that would eat him alive on the court. Not to mention Lin cannot play defense against elite guards, he’d look like Jimmer guarding the likes of Rose, Rondo, Westbrook, Jennings, Paul, Wall, etc Anyone not named Fisher or Calderon. How many turnovers did he have against the lowly Raps? I counted 2 in the 2nd alone!

  On DWill’s fatherhood: one of the reasons he doesn’t watch TV is that he’s got a bunch of young kids which–because he’s a solid dad and not a deadbeat like some other ballers–takes a ton of time to look out after. I don’t blame him one bit for being steamed about talking about a Knicks player at all. Athletes are competitive–do folks expect non-Knicks to give two figs about Lin playing 6 games?

  It is too bad the media is going so far over the top with this guy. The real story is that Lin is playing at a level unheard of for a guy that went undrafted and then let go by another nba team. And the fact that he is Asian and a Harvard graduate to boot just adds more to this feel good story. But he hasn’t done anything to get the respect of many nba vets. Not yet anyway. I’ll bet that there is some resentment slowly building among some players and they know they have to be very careful what they say about the guy.

  Deron Williams just wants to focus on his 8-21 team. Nothing wrong with that. I imagine he’s frustrated with losing. Can’t say that I blame him. The Nets beat reporters should just wait to ask him about Lin when the Nets are 9-24 and set to face the 17-15 Knicks at MSG next Monday. That would be a better time to broach the subject, in my honest opinion.

  I am lowkey anxious to see the Knicks when Melo returns. IMO Lin is able to do all of this because the Knicks can Run and Gun which is what coach MD wants. Melo and Stat both slow the pace down. Argument can be made they ran last night. But that was with just Stat. Melo will change the dynamic of the game. That is his game, always has been. Takes his time to get his shots. Lin wont get 20 shots up with both Melo and Stat on the floor. And he has definitely got to work on those turnovers. Dude is ballin right now, no argument about it. However he is doing it without the 2 main stars in NY. And I agree with Dwill. Cant be concerned with what another team is doing when they are 8-21. If that record was switched, maybe there would be cause for concern with Lin coming in, or them going up against the Knicks for a cross town rivalry. But not now.

  @Cool dude. Oh how right you are . The Knicks fans should worry about themselves. Cos while we all like him now, what’s gonna happen when everyone starts to hate on Lin. When DRose turns all those TO’s he has into fastbreak points. When he drives to the lane and everyone does the “Jordan Rules”. When he loses a critical game cos he missed the jumper with 0.3 seconds on the clock. When DWade and co press him full court then run him thru hard screen after hard screen cos you know they know what’s going on and they wanna show the young kid what its really like in the “NBA”. The media will hate on him more because of that. While its awesome to see a young kid brimming with confidence and playing like Mike has possessed him, soon (and it will be soon) the hate will come. What’s everyone gonna do then???? @Jlin7, if you read this, play smart, get your team involved at every opportunity, play both ends of the floor. When you do this you’ll win every game. On another note, would he get the same hype if he was playing on another team? Like the Bobcats or Hornets? Would he be some guy getting stats on a losing team (don’t wanna hate on him, just a question that’s all)

  lin has three big litmus tests coming up this month against excellent teams-
  dallas,atlanta and miami, everyone else is just bottom-feeders. but that is not even the biggest test, that will come in beginning of march when 5 of the 6 teams will include boston,chicago,san antonio,philadelphia and dallas.
  he goes 4-2 against that tough stretch he is the new man in ny, anything less then that and he is just another cat on a learning curve.

  I’m so tired of this Lin hype. Leave the dude alone. Yes, I know he’s doing very well and I’m glad for him. But, can we please cool it with the Headline stories about Lin? It’s getting to be very annoying. While, he has been doing well, I want to see him go against a defensive-minded team i.e. Heat, Bulls, Thunder kinda. Put him on that stage and see how he does then I’ll agree that he is a very good player. Until then, I’m not on his bandwagon.

  Also, he has played against some of the teams that don’t even see play-off action. I.e. the nets, kings, raptors, jazz, wizards. The Lakers are the only decent team Lin has played against and they’re struggling this year.

  While everyone is busy over-hyping lin, I would be a little more concerned about “what this stretch of games, by a player whose seeing his first real minutes in the league, says about the quality of today`s game?” It seems like about two-thirds of the league is either under or hovering around the .500 mark. Because of this, there is an exceptionally high probability of playing a mediocre, bad, or flat-out horrendous team from one night to the next. Even the teams with nice overall records (well over .500) like orlando, lal, philly, san ant, and so on … have major issues. Orlando is totally dependent on the 3-point shot (as they proved in the 1st round of last year`s playoffs) and they`re still dealing with the dwight dilemma. lal`s backcourt is beyond repair (fisher, blake) and their offense has been at a stand-still since the first game of the season. philly is a good team with no explosion, a questionable frontcourt, and an inconsistent offense. And san antonio is a good regular season team with minimal playoff potential – probably 2nd round knockout. There are no “great” teams and the greatest-talents are concentrated in just a few organizations. The remaining talent is unevenly distributed among the rest of the league resulting in bad quality.

  I remember when players in the NBA hated each other because they wanted to win. It would’ve been impossible to put together “big 3′s” back then. Today, you have players hangin out w/ each other like Lebron, rudy gay, chris paul and other dudes who are supposed to be rivals. the game has changed quite a bit.

  The first time Williams met Lin he got the better of him the second time it was a different story.After Miami played physical against Lin other teams started doing the same thing.
