Derrick Rose Says He ‘Never’ Asked Bulls to Trade for Pau Gasol

Derrick Rose denied published reports that he had quietly urged the Chicago front-office to go after Pau Gasol. Per CSN: “I heard it after the game [on Monday] and that’s something that I wouldn’t say to anyone,’ said Rose. ‘It was all false and that’s something I’ll never do. I’m good with the teammates that I have. I’ve always been saying that. We’ve been winning games and we’re not in the position to look to trade anyone right now. I talked to [Boozer] a little bit, but I think he already knew that [the rumor] was false,’ continued Rose. ‘It’s something that I wouldn’t do to anyone. It was all false.’”

shutup, you were going solid, but slowly going off the deep end. Bulls are a playoff team without Rose I don’t know how anyone can say otherwise now without a mental handicap. The Bulls roll with or with out D-Rose. Thibs is the second MVP of that team imo.

  • shutup

not the same thing, i’m trying to educate you. and its a fact any human that play outdoor more than in an open gym will have a darker complexion, never mentioned race, but I see where your mind is. Once I mention poor you assume I mean black, tsk tsk tsk

  • shutup

@Lakeshow I tried but its hard to keep interest in arguments like this.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    ^HA!
You know you were talkin’ ’bout Black folks. lol

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

no it isn’t a fact. people that play inside more than outside can work outside, and have a darker complexion then anyone. But still, cute try.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

if you don’t want to be in these arguments that expose your personality then don’t get in them.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

As is such, nbk grabs back the win…

  • shutup

lol listen Puerto Ricans and Dominicans are dark tooo, and as a counterpoint being poor would put you at a higher risk to have an outside job thus not having funds for the cost of a gym.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Rose wants Gasol, but he’ll never go on record with it.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

I go to gyms that are free…

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

And I have plenty of money.

  • shutup

and to be honest this persona that I have on this site isnt even the same one I use on other sites let alone in real life, you have no idea what my personality is like, but the bits and pieces you expose tells so much about you.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

lol “this persona that I have on this site isnt even the same one I use on other sites let alone in real life – but the bits and pieces you expose tells so much about you.” that is rich.

  • shutup

I too have been to gyms that were free, but the majority of basketball that I have played has been outside. If you have plenty “Can I Borrow a Dollar?” sorry couldnt resist throwing a Common reference out there, seeing as this is a Chicago thread and all.

  • bike

It’s about time for a parable. Anybody got one?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Gyms where I live have free runs constantly (multiple times a week). There are about 3 parks where you can find good hoop in my whole city. And they are only busy about 6 months a year.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Depends where you live, if there is a difference between the playground and gym. Only someone who is completely ignorant would assume that the way hoop is where they are from is how it is everywhere. And only an equally ignorant person would even bring up complexion. Especially if they are talking about sun-tans.

@NBK not rich, comfortable, a step better than I was brought into the world, but then again momma didnt have no monies for a fancy nbk education. the name NBK is rich lemme tell you if that isnt posturing I dont know what is, or maybe the correct psycho-analytical jargon would be over-compensating, when I address you from now on I’ll be referencing you as peewee

    Shutup
Looking at assist numbers to determine passing can cause you miss facts.
Dwight hits shooter in scoring position from the block, he makes the correct pass from the double team and he makes it at the correct time. These are all learned skills and important ones. He rarely over dribbles. He rarely gets those ridiculous charging fouls he used to get all the time as a younger player.
He has shown the ability to hit a bank shot from the post since last year. He said he worked on it with Ewing for years, but always lacked the confidence to use it in a game situation. He does now.
I mean, I’m watching dude play. He’s so much better it’s not funny, and the biggest leap was last year. At this point, it’s obvious you’re invested in a certain position and that’s fine, I just disagree vehemently.

shutup you realize that the bulls made the playoffs with a lot of the same people 2 years before rose came right? they beat the defending champion miami heat…. and while rose was out with toe turf the bulls beat the celtics, a playoff caliber team. also pau is on the decline. Everything I just said is a fact.

  • shutup

Seeing as I have played ball in NYC the majority of my life and now live in Vegas, which is comparable to your Arizona (I think) I feel I have a pretty good idea. 24 hour fitnesses and midnight runs are the norm out here but nothing and believe me when I tell you compares to mid-summer playground run in NYC, or for any other urban area, heard Chicago is tough and same for LA. and I would hope that the gym in your gated community would have open runs as a matter of fact what gyms do you play at?

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    @shutup:
Sure, I’ll give you some money. I’m a charitable kind of gentile.
As for a parable, I used to come up here often with a quote.
    As is such, it goes like this;
“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, I used everything you gave me”.
    -Erma Bombeck

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Look you don’t know me. Your assumptions are ignorant. I’m not going to tell you about my life, the last time I did that you proceeded to comment with ignorant hate like it was diarrhea falling off your fingers. So just wallow in your assumptions, play some MW3 and continue to think your not an idiot.

As for the teaming up argument…
    Magic teamed up.
    Kobe teamed up.
Rose got drafted number one by a team that was only like a year removed from the playoffs and had made multiple top ten selections in the past decade.
Durant got drafted number two, by a team that then had multiple lottery picks in subsequent years.
LeBron and wade both got drafted high. They were both so good that their squads were playoff teams quickly and no longer had great draft picks most year. Sadly, their front offices did a poor job of assembling talent.
Look at Wade. Number five pick, makes the playoffs in year one, ECF in year two, Finals in year three, playoffs in year four. Sucks for a year, then gets a group of scrubs to the playoffs multiple years. Has his team use the second pick on Beasley.
LeBron joins the Cavs. Wins 35 games a rookie. 42 games as a soph. 50 games in his third year. His success meant they didn’t get the best picks, and then to compound the problem they draft cats like Luke Jackson, Stephen Graham and random Euros.
The year before the Bulls got Rose they won 33 games, but the year before that they won 49. totally different situations.

  • bull22

@shutup, at some point you will realize that these clowns love to gangup on
others who dont share their views or their bull. anytime i blast the knicks or heat, or give props to the bulls my little children nbk and allenp are there following me. i give you props for expressing you opinion to these
ridiculous children who either rant or curse to try and get their points across.

  • shutup

@Allen I dont disagree that he has improved, but I still see gaping holes in his game that by his 8th year in the league should have been fixed. He is also a transgressor of the rule never follow a great man , carve your own path to success, it was unfortunate for him to be drafted by Orlando and even more detrimental to embrace the Superman moniker. @Dat Pau isnt on the decline his numbers are on par with his career avgs and if the Lakers were better his numbers would be up. The Celtics are in shambles, and there is no way to defend Rose’s MVP if you believe his impact is so minimal. and you do realize the Bulls were like the five seed in a very weak eastern conference. So I contest that which you call fact I call opinion, which your entitled too, by all means

With a name like THE PHILOSOPHER i would hope he could bless us with parables and maybe even a well tuned soliloquy, but I would settle for a literary recommendation the pages on my Steppenwolf have become ragged and I have begun to highlight my underlines in my 48 Laws. @NBK did you say that in a black girl voice while having your hand on your hip and moving your neck back and forth? “Look you don’t know me. ” You is a non-factor b!tch LMFAO @allen again lol I dont disagree with the teaming up, but I dont think Rose or Durant would complain either way and maybe my perception is off about them, Durant could abuse puppies and rose hangs cats from atree in a burlap sack and beats them with a mop but until I read otherwise, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, thus the earlier post with the Stephen A Smith line shutup Posted: Feb.23 at 12:53 pm
sickest line I ever heard from Stephen A. Smith “benefit of the doubt gets replaced by presumption of guilt”

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

There is nothing new under the sun.
Many great men have followed in the footsteps of others. It’s not about Dwight trying to find some great man to follow, it’s about him disliking where he’s at, particularly him not really like Otis Smith.
Look, who have the Magic drafted that was a legit player since they got Dwight? Jameer? Reddick? Travis Diener? James Augustine? He has them in the playoffs by year three, and they can’t figure out how to surround him with talent. Go back and look at those rosters.
Let’s look at Dwight’s career. He comes out of high school and is completely raw. Averages a double/double on talent alone on a putrid team. Year two he’s averaging 15.8 and 12.5. At 20-years-old! Year four he’s averaging 20.7 and and 14.2! Those are the numbers that made Kevin Love a media darling last year. Since he hit the 20 ppg plateau, he’s only had one year where he dropped below it, and that was still his most efficient year as far as field goal percentage. The next year he’s at a career highs for scoring.
I agree that dude is somewhat robotic on the block. That he whines to the refs. That it felt like it took him forever to develop. But, when you look at his numbers and team success, it’s obvious that he was a game changer almost immediately.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Making a playoff team the best team in your conference is anything but minimal impact. Nobody is downgrading how important Rose is to Chicago by saying they are a playoff team without him. it’s just true.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

exactly shutup, you keep it up sport.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

Shutup is as cool as hell, man.

  • shutup

oh hell yeah I’m ignorant as f%ck, thus I possess great knowledge, booyahh how you like me now???

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I’m not presuming guilt with Durant and Rose. I think they are stand up dudes and like I said up top, I respect the hell out of Rose’s demeanor.
But, I’m reminded of how SHOCKED some people were when they saw Durant without a shirt on and realized he was tatted up. It went against the little fantasy image they’ve created in their minds.
Durant and Rose have both been blessed with situations where they were either immediately competitive, or were quickly surrounded by high caliber talent.
That was not true for Bron or Dwight. I think that’s just a fact.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Anyone who thought differently of Durant after seeing he has tattoos is an imbecile. Rose, Durant are good dudes, they always will be. Even if they make mistakes you can tell they have a heart of gold. Neil Young reference, how you like that shutup?! They are solid peeps though.

  • shutup

But the Magic have traded for so many different types of players or signed them, but it doesnt really make a difference; I listed them earlier, and that was just off the top of my head, they made it to the finals. I dont give players a pass for jumping to the league, if theyre successful more power to them but if theyre slow to develop thats on them, they chose that road. As for Dwight he has to man up and take responsibility for his choices, coming out early landed him in Orlando, he could have shunned the superman out of respect but he embraced it like an over sized swagger-jacker. Look the other day I watched the end of an Orlando game, not sure who they were playing against but Magic lost bad and this dude is still cheesin, like ish is kosher. Same ish Stephen A said about Lebron after they lost, this dude is smiling like they won the chip. I bet Durant was in the gym the day after they got bumped and I put money that Rose was too. Look at what Durant did during the lockout, meanwhile Dwight is dunking on a 12 foot rim in japan like a clown.

Dang philosopher with the dope quotes. @Nbk you’re an idiot the bulls don’t go to the playoffs without rose. Who would lead the Bulls? Deng? He tried that already he can’t do it. Noah can’t because he’s no Howard and Boozer is can’t either cause without Rose splitting Ds he can’t get opened as much. Boozer has always been good cause whatever team he’s on already has someone who attracts double teams. You’re an idiot Nbk stop trying to argue Rose with Bulls fans you moron.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Shut up
So, you’re honestly saying you haven’t seen Dwight’s development as a player?
Moreover, considering how absolutely raw he was coming out of high school, you honestly don’t believe he’s developed skills?
Seeing as how I don’t think you’re ignorant, it’s almost like you just don’t like Dwight on a personal level. That’s fine, your choice, but it can’t be justified with the fact that he hasn’t improved enough as a player. He was just an athletic blob when he came in the League, he’s a complete player now. He’s not an all-time great, but he is very, very good.
Durant and Rose both were in China during the Lockout. And Durant played for hundreds of thousands of dollars in the Phillipines.
Like I said earlier, every superstar in the League puts in work in the offseason. I mean, do you think Durant goes harder in the weight room than Dwight? Before this season, did Durant work hard enough on all of the aspects of the game not related to scoring?

  • bike

Philo, awesome parable. I also hope God isn’t too harsh on blokes who spend an inordinate amount of time on basketball sites.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I don’t know what you think constitutes a playoff team in the East, but right now, 15-17 is the 8th seed. Whether you think I’m an idiot or not, the Bulls, with how they played without Rose (7-2), would still be a playoff team.

  • shutup

dammit, I was gonna print up a diploma from the school of idiocy put it on my fridge and show my mom. Its cool still got my SOHK shirt with my diploma from the streetz lmao

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

The only reason why I think NBK is wrong about the Bulls as a playoff team without Rose is because right now, the number eight seed in the East is Boston, and I can’t honestly say that the Bulls without Rose are better than Boston, and would be better than them over the course of season. They can beat Boston in a game, but I don’t know about over a season.
Nor are they better than the Knicks, Atlanta or Indiana, which are the other teams in the bottom half of the conference.
But, even without Rose they would probably be over .500 in a season.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

You take Rose out of Chicago, each team moves up a seed. Which leaves an opening at number 8. Unless what your really saying is, without Rose the Bulls would be worse then Milwuakee. Or well yeah, Milwuakee. Currenty #9 in the East at 13-20. Pretty much, think about it Allen.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I think that without Rose, Boozer is your best player. And a Boozer, Deng, Hamilton, Noah nucleus is enough to be around .500.
Mainly because teams would prepare differently for the entire system for the Bulls and the Bulls players would be able to shoulder on knowing that they only have to pick up the slack for a short amount of time. It’s different when you know you have to do something every night compared to having to do it for a short period of time.
I don’t know about the Bucks being better than a Rose-less bulls, but I would say Cleveland is for sure.

  • http://www.nba.com Red

How? Who would lead the Bulls? We were ok without Rose because of a weak schedule. Again Nbk you’really wrong but you won’t admit it cause of internet ego.
