Kevin Durant Replacing Joe Johnson in Three-Point Contest

The injured Joe Johnson will be replaced by Rajon Rondo and Kevin Durant for All-Star Weekend events. Durant will take Johnson’s spot in the long-distance shootout. From the Oklahoman: “Thunder forward Kevin Durant will replace Atlanta’s Joe Johnson (injured left knee) in the Three-Point Contest on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando, Fla. NBA commissioner David Stern named Boston point guard Rajon Rondo as Johnson’s replacement on the Eastern Conference team.”

Love this. These side events need more star power. I’d also like to see Westbrook in the Dunk Contest.

This is gonna get ugly, scorers almost never do well in this event. But if your gonna find a replacement for Joe Johnson maybe Durant is a good stand in, dont expect to see him in the finals just like I wouldnt expect Joe to do well. I had Joe coming in last sad to say I see the same fate for Durant, but if all-star weekend had a 1-on-1 event I’d put my money on Durant without hesitation

WTF!!! Why are the warriors being snubbed. They have like at least 5 lethal 3point shooters y not pick one of them?

Paul Pierce is a scorer and he won it a couple of years ago. I really just think it depends on who is hot at the time. I can see Durant winning it because he shoots the 3 so effortlessly. I don’t think he’ll get fatigued as quick and he can get those jumpers off fast.

I think spot-up shooters have the advantage in this contest. Scorers are typically at a disadvantage because they’re generally used to shooting off the dribble.
