Kobe Bryant on Jeremy Lin: ‘I Don’t Even Know What He’s Done’

Linsanity may have hit New York City and the rest of the NBA, but Kobe Bryant has never heard of it. When asked about the Lakers’ showdown with the Knicks tonight, Kobe claimed to not be at all aware of the exploits of NYC’s new Harvard-bred point guard sensation Jeremy Lin. Jimmy Toscano of the New York Post has the story: “”What? No idea,’ Bryant said last night after the Lakers’ 88-87 overtime win over the Celtics. ‘I know who he is but I don’t really know what’s going on too much with them.’ Pressed further, Bryant said, ‘I don’t even know what he’s done. Like, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I’ll take a look at [the tape] tonight though.’ … All Bryant could do was laugh when asked if he would cover Lin if need be—’I appreciate the question, though,’ he said before walking off to the shower.”

These are the list of excuses that people will give if Lin plays well against the following treams:

Bulls- they didn’t have Rose to guard him or the Bulls isn’t as solid defensively as when Bogans was starting

OKC- he did it against a mediocre defensive Thunder team and Westbrook isn’t known for that

Heat- “insert bogus excuse here” just wait till the playoffs!

Celtics- the Celtics are old man, Rondo can’t do everything (this coming from a Celtics fan)

Mavs- JKidd isn’t the player he used to be so he has trouble guarding him, and their overall defense has gotten soft since Chandler left

Pacers- they’re a young team with no real guard play, not a surprise. You guys are overreacting

Lakers- “insert bogus excuse about how Pau played too soft and how they need to trade Fisher here” just wait till the playoffs!

Of course it would come down to everyone blowing up. But how many times did KOBE actually guard Lin last night? I can only recall a few (will have to go back and watch the game), but Lin passed every time I saw him with KB on him. And how many times did Lin guard KB last night? Its not a typical KB vs Lin matchup…and all the posts after the game seem to be favoring Lin. IDK. Kid has played 4 great games. If he can keep this up for 13 seasons, then he is worth talking about. And someone did mention Melo and Stat were both out. How many shots is Lin going to get with them 2 back in the lineup? I HIGHLY doubt it will be enough to drop 30. Unless he gets to the line.

Lakers do know who he is now. Fisher and Blake made Lin look like the second coming of Zeke. Its sad to see a guy who was cut twice, I felt Lakers should have give a chance kill my team. Lin played well and I give him the credit. He can play, but when Melo and Amare get back, the ball will stop and Lin numbers will go down.
