Orlando Magic Yelled at Each Other During Team Meeting

The Orlando Magic suffered a disheartening loss in Atlanta last night, and in the ensuing team meeting, things got a little feisty. Reports the Orlando Sentinel: “It isn’t the first team meeting where there’s some yelling, and it won’t be the last. Magic fans probably were already screaming at the TV watching this one from home or a bar. The Magic held a loud pow-wow after their wretched loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night. They should have held a seance to ask the basketball gods for some help. It’s not as if we haven’t seen this picture before, especially against the Hawks. The Magic can’t beat them anymore, playoffs or regular season, and they didn’t even have a couple guys named Joe Johnson and Al Horford this time. Josh Smith and Hawks’ bench beat them. There was little energy, starting with the opening tip. There was bad shooting, ridiculously terrible 3-point shooting, some hare-brained plays. And one ticked-off coach. ‘I’ve been saying this to you guys…. I come across as negative…We don’t play hard every night,’ Stan Van Gundy said. ‘We’re not going to be anywhere near contenders in the East unless we’re going to play hard all the time – and we don’t.’ The players spoke up. ‘We talked about everybody coming back together,’ Magic forward Ryan Anderson said. ‘We got to keep each other accountable and make sure we play with great effort every night.’”

Cosign bull22. Dwight’s image (in my eyes at least) of a good guy is just crumbling this season. I’m CERTAIN he was one of the instigators in all of this; he doesn’t give a crap about team chemistry (or it seems, winning with the Magic). I know I’m being harsh, but he has NOT given the effort this season. Yes, I’m aware his stats are nice, but watch him shoot free throws, watch him walk down the floor after missing a shot, watch him hold the ball in the post for 5 seconds then pass right out, watch him rip rebounds from his teammates more than the opponent. And, most of all, how on earth do you take 7 shots for the ENTIRE GAME when Zaza is guarding you? Part of that blame lies with the team, but Dwight was force fed the ball the whole game. And what did he do? Kill shot clock, pass the ball right out, and force the perimeter guys into horrible shots. I still like Dwight (have since he was in high school) but he really needs to get OUT of Orlando.

The clock on Van Gundy starts now.

I think I speak for a lot of Magic fans when I say I could give two damns what Dwight stays or not. We don’t want some one who doesn’t want to be here. I’m a Dwight fan but the Magic come first and no one player is bigger then the organization

Howard is a tremendous talent and from what I’ve seen/heard in the past, a pretty good teammate. I’m sure that all of this nonsense with management effects/affects his game and mentality towards the game. (both sides seem pig headed and confused)

We’ve seen these actions before from other players and it’s simply not fair to teammates. Call him what you will but there isn’t a fan on this site that wouldn’t welcome him on their favorite team. (Orlando fans excluded of course). I’m sure a true Celtics fan would love him here.
