Tyson Chandler Concerned About Left Wrist Injury

Though Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni isn’t worried about it, center Tyson Chandler sounds less sure about the gravity of his left wrist injury. From Zagsblog: “I’m gonna talk to the doctor today,’ Chandler, the Knicks’ defensive anchor at center, said Tuesday. ‘Like I said, I was hoping that the time off and the rest would help me out a little bit, but. …” Chandler injured both wrists and his tailbone in a Feb. 19 win over his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, but X-rays that day were negative. ‘They say it’s a deep bone bruise and some swelling around the nerves, which is causing my hand to kind of get the weakness and all that,’ he said. He added: ‘I thought the break would do me some good and help me heal a little bit but coming back and just today in practice and just trying to catch the ball and everything, it’s still difficult,’ Chandler said. The 7-footer said he planned to play Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks don’t play again until Saturday in Boston. ‘He’ll be fine,’ Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said. ‘He can rest in the summer time. He’s fine. It will hurt his 3-point shooting, but he’ll be alright.’”

I think it was Jeff Van Gundy that said…Unless players are hurt to the point of not being able to play, they should play. Fans pay top dollar to come and see their favorite teams/players. And when they are out with minor injuries, it sucks. Especially the fans who save up and the one game they go to, their fav player is out with a sore thigh, or split ends or something crazy like that. I agree with JVG! Chandler should play unless he is physically incapable of playing. Fans pay players salaries and deserve to get what they pay for.

half the knicks players are like injury magnets.

@Ldub, so what you’re saying is, with both wrists injured, Chandler should still play even if he can’t catch the ball…He would literally be a moving pylon…

Tyson needs to maintain and rest up. We got a game tonight and the next one on Sunday. Cavs don’t have a dominate Center, so the Knicks can go to Jared without having to marry the thought of him being the starting 5 forever, but come Sunday, we’ll need Tyson to check KG. Rest up homie, try to get better for the C’s.

if tyson is not healthy, the knicks chances of doing anything this season
goes kaput because of no interior defense.

what im saying is, as long as he is not a liability to the team, and can go…he should go. If its too much pain then obviously he should sit out. as someone who balls frequently, you know what you can handle and what is too much. if the wrists are too much of an issue, then he should rest. but if he can go…his motivation for winning and the fans should be enough to play.
