Boris Diaw’s Agent Asked About a Buyout from Charlotte Bobcats

There’s been recent talk of unhappiness on the part of Boris Diaw in Charlotte, and Bobcats GM Rod Higgins confirmed to the Charlotte Observer that Diaw’s agent inquired about his client getting bought out: “The chances of Boris Diaw not finishing the season with the Charlotte Bobcats are growing, with his agent inquiring about a buyout that would free Diaw to sign elsewhere. Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins said Tuesday that he met with Diaw before the All-Star break about Diaw’s role and his expiring contract. Higgins said he has since had discussions with Diaw’s agent, Doug Neustadt. ‘Boris and I had a meeting prior to the All-Star break, maybe Wednesday before. We talked about quite a few things,’ Higgins said. “The issue with the buyout, it was raised on their side, from Doug. We haven’t gone down that road any further.’ [...] Under a buyout, Diaw would agree to reduce his remaining guarantee by some number, in return for the Bobcats waiving him in time for him to sign elsewhere and be playoff-eligible on a new roster. Diaw would have to be waived by March 23 for that to happen. Diaw is the Bobcats’ second-highest paid player at $9 million, and his contract expires after this season. He hasn’t had much impact this season and briefly lost his starting spot at power forward. He’s averaging 7.7 points, the first time in his three seasons with the Bobcats he’s failed to average double figures.”

He should stay fit though. Here’s a guy that I think/believe that can play 5 positions in this league. He actually knows how to run plays if he’s on top of the key.

well if he gets it, where ever he goes dont be a waste of a roster spot like mike bibby was after his. and i hope he gets into shape too because hes actually a good all around player for his height. great passing skills and rebounding, as well as obviously scoring

decent buyouts always go to the Spurs, Mavs, or Celtics so I expect him to go to one of those teams

Bulls!!! They have the worst GM in the league..he’s missed so many acquisitions this year..Bulls are not any better than last year. Pick up Diaw!

I could see Boris end up in South Beach. Curry will hit the bricks.

@Orange – and then the bricks will crumble while Eddy walks away.

He’ll rot on the bench if they don’t get a trade for him that involves a draft pick and/or a decent young player.
