Carmelo Anthony Reportedly Wants a Trade from the Knicks

As the New York Knicks’ season slowly and painfully flushes itself down the drain, all hell appears to have broken loose. Mike D’Antoni has reportedly lost the team, some in the front-office seem to want Carmelo Anthony gone, and now there’s talk that ‘Melo himself is so frustrated with the state of affairs, that he’s possibly looking for a way out of Gotham. Wow. Per the NY Post: “Carmelo Anthony’s discontent with the Knicks organization became so severe after Monday night’s loss to the Bulls, he told a confidant he preferred to be traded before Thursday’s NBA deadline, The Post has learned. According to a person familiar with his thinking, Anthony’s disillusionment stems most from a belief coach Mike D’Antoni and interim GM Glen Grunwald do not trust him. He is surprised that after all the Knicks gave up to trade for him, he has not been asked for more input on personnel decisions, as Deron Williams has with the Nets. ‘The organization makes believe his opinions don’t matter,’ the source said. However, Tuesday night, a source said Anthony and D’Antoni spoke in an attempt to reconcile their differences and made headway. On Monday night, Anthony only wanted to remain a Knick if he had assurances D’Antoni wouldn’t be back next season. However, Anthony will not make a formal trade request. As The Post reported Tuesday, Anthony was told after the Knicks were swept out of the playoffs by the Celtics last April that D’Antoni would not return for this season. But now Anthony does not believe a decision on D’Antoni’s future is coming soon because D’Antoni and Grunwald, according to the source, are ‘like a couple.’”

Well, let’s not jump to conclusions. Let us look at facts. The Knicks in 2011 were 2 games above .500 and were seeming to jell as a team with the young stars. They were first or second in the league in points per game. They had a PG that was have a great season, Amari was earning his 100 million plus dollars. They had young ballers making a name for themselves. Then along comes Melo. I know on paper people were saying “wow two top 5 scorers on the same team”, it was gonna be great. Melo’s game, is a game of isolation and sometimes over confident wild shots that never seem to fit in this system of D’antoni’s. D’antoni’s system is that of floor spacing and pick and rolls and fluid ball movement on fast breaks. The rest of the team gets it, it’s Melo who can’t adapt. Melo is a scorer and feels he must touch the ball every possession to matter. I mean Melo is arguably a better scorer than Fields, yet Fields thrived in the absence of Anthony and since Carmelo has been with the Knicks Landry’s play has gone down, so if Melo just learns to be a team player and know his role, the Knicks would be unstoppable; however, I don’t think he can and they never will. ~peace

Carmelo is a petulant b*tch, but Knicks’ front office deserves the blame too — they traded away a huge chunk of their team to get him. That sent a message to Melo that it was all about HIM. It basically enabled him to play out his spoiled brat urges.

Mike Woodson now gets to showcase his skills as head coach of the Knicks. Let’s see what you got Wood.

Denver is a better team without Melo and the Knicks were playing better before Melo came back…..hmmm.

‘According to a person familiar with his thinking’ are you serious this is the souurce? lol

With all due respect, Denver was always a perennial western conference threat with Melo on the lineup…last years so called ‘improvement’ really fooled a lot of people into thinking that the Nuggets are better without Melo, the improvement was a result of lackluster play on the part of the team because of the trade uncertainty that then surrounded Melo.

And for people resting their hopes on Lin, such hope is absurdity at its finest. As much as you can love the guy, teams have figured him out and his run was unsustainable at best.

Carmelo Anthony and his wife Lala are all Hollywood. But last I checked they have not won anything. Carmelo is a caricature of a star that does not eye of the tiger or hunger of a Jordan, Kobe or Wade. Carmelo wanted to be in New York and for that alone, Dolan, the worst owner in the league dismantled his franchise to build around a non-franchise player. For all the talent that Carmelo has, he would be better if he had the heart of a Jeremy Lin or John Starks. The Knicks will never win a title with Carmelo.

First and foremost, Denver wouldn’t be where it is right now if it wasn’t for Carmelo.
The focus here should be to make your star players as comfortable as possible, that is, for the coach, to build a system that enables them play with ease and freedom of expression especially Melo, who i’m sure all of you would agree has the hottest hand in NY.
In this respect i regret to say coach D’Antoni has miserably failed to get this done.
For one, Baron Davis should be made starting point guard. Let him get Melo and Stat into the game, and with chandler doing his thing defensively, trust me, we will be definitely be on our way to a championship. Must love Melo despite his shortcomings.
